Imsoaddicted: Well Tanein created THIS POLL awhile back which is suppose to end in about 9 hours about weather people wanted August team tournaments, and looks to be a yes - so possible she might be creating some here soon.
We usually take turns - each of us creating them every other month..... so I will probable create some September ones sometime after my "last batch" of team tournaments start.
has you know im always under the impression that we have to many anyway esp when they seem to take years to get to next round and then you find half your team has left the site but thats just my input
Imsoaddicted: Well we have "slowed" down in making them - I know for myself, I usually only make 4 a month (where I use to make 5-6 a month) - plus of course always try to spread it out to games which haven't had a team tournament for awhile - and spread it around to different types (like 1 chess, 1 lines, 1 gammon, etc...) that way hopefully at least one of them will be liked by someone who may not play many types of games.
Plus I've been trying to make a few "no days off" and now Fischer clock games & the gammon tournaments set to use autopass - so I'm trying to do things to help speed up the tournaments.
..... plus I always take suggestions if anyone has any (on type of game, time per move, etc...) - best to send it to my private message to I can more easily keep track of it.
coan.net: yes i know you've been really good at sorting the problems out but take this one Jan 2008 Clone Wars started over 18 months ago that's waiting for one game to finish and move on and i see that one team will be at a disadvantage because of the long wait has one of there players left the site over a year ago
what im trying to say wouldn't it be better to finish the ones we have before starting more it just seems really stupid to be in something for 18 months or longer and still waiting for it to move on
or wait until the new version of BK is released
of course you could have team tournaments with 20 teams in one section players would get a few extra games but on the other hand once they finished there games that would be it they wouldnt have to sit around for another year or more for it to move on
Imsoaddicted: On the face, it sounds "good" to wait until it is finished before starting new ones, but if you think about it - 99% of the players no longer are able to play - so it might be good to start a new one so everyone can play again.
Of course the real solution would be for Fencer to program it so next rounds (like in this one) could start since we already know which teams will win.... WITHOUT waiting for all the game to be completed. Having that in there won't help every situation (since sometimes the slow games are the ones that will decide who will win), but will help out a lot and would be very welcomed if Fencer could put that in the "new BrainKing".
coan.net: well if i counted right theres 64 team tournaments already running so surely a line has to be drawn somewhere ppl lose interest in them esp myself because who knows what im going to be doing in 18 months time and im sure more knights and bishops would join teams if they knew in advance they wont have to wait x amount of years for something to finish
Imsoaddicted: It would also help if teams were allowed to have "alternates" that the captain can substitute in the event that they lose a person due to the long drawn out tournaments.
Imsoaddicted: The Tournament you mention i 100% agree about.
Is what is annoying, although there is still a game to finish, there is NO reason the next round can not start, as this last game will NOT effect who goes through to the next round.
This should be sorted in ALL Tournamnets so to speed them up
Clandestine 1: yes that be good but only in new tournaments it shouldnt apply to ones already on the go and i agree with Vikings the alternates should be known before hand to stop ppl leaving one team and joining another that looks like winning
it would gave a new twist to them has it is team tournaments are fast becomming a REAL BORE
Clandestine 1: This is already on Fencers list, hopefully it will be part of BrainKing 3.0
I have just had a Team Tournament start, yet one of the player has not been here for a week, and is already timing in in normal games. Even though they have not made a move in this Team Tournament i can do nothing about it, so ALL those games are lost. Hence, the Tournament is lost already, and a waste of time for the others involved. It would be worse if any players were Knights / Bishops, they would be stuck there
