Please say hello and a word of welcome to our new moderator. I'm happy to have him aboard. All my help left, and good help is hard to find. But, we found him.
Best of luck to you, MadMonkey. I must be a tyrrant chasing off all those other people. But, the truth of the matter is I wanted you here all along. Make yourself at home.
When looking for that, I also found a George Michael version of it, which was really good. (I don't often like someone else doing a classic great song) http://youtube.com/watch?v=8c7x2JD_j-0
awesome: That was,...well...awsome,love The Nuge!..........while we're on the topic, this is my fave tune of his,it's about respect! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3J-XYnZHfU
TexasToest: Ewe: I try and have appropriate stuff on hand for all occassions
MadMonkey: a dj back in the 80's,cool,so was I,6 hours a night 5 days a week with a bunch of regulars, that's alot of music to fill.I remember playing this song,it was the numero uno dance tune at the time, but not a soul danced LOL,a finicky crowd
I had to get my local record shop to get the 12" imported version of that as i collected them. In fact i still have that along with nearly all my 12" collection. I gave nearly all my 7" vinyls away years ago , still have the limited editions though.
MadMonkey: I absolutely LOVE 80's music! Come On Eileen is one of my favorites too! I don't remember much of it when it was actually popular, but my big Sister was my hero, and I listened to all her older records all the time.
Culture Club... Duran Duran... probably my 2 favorite groups from that era.
Andersp: That was a great one! Released 1957. Do you remember it????? I do. Hahaha! I heard this on my way home from work tonight, made the drive worth it. This is a tribute to Bon Scott, rest his soul. He's been gone since 1980, but I still have to shed a tear when I hear him.
TexasToest: Oh yes i remember the music from 1957 :)...but to be honest i didnt "discover" At The Hop until i saw the movie American Grafitti 1973 (google) :)
Andersp: You're KIDDING! I might have been watching that American Bandstand show, unless it was previous to 12-58, which it probably was. That song was still big when we got home from overseas.
TexasToest: Yeah,Devendra Banhart reminds me of very early T REX,prior to going electric,.............my second selection was a combo of Python and Hawkwind, kinda trippy.
This tune was a fave from 1999,especially the chorus

TexasToest: As you know, I have had trouble accessing this board since the addition of embedded vidoes and my internet problems, plus due to my workload now and having limited time on the site these days, I was unable to keep up with this board and give it the attention it deserves. That is the reason I left my position here and I thought you understood that. It wasn't because you were a tyrant.
I think you have done an exemplary job of being the Main Mod here. You have brought this board to life since you took it over. You have an amazing love of music and have an incredible knowledge of it, and have added to this board a vast array of different musical styles and tastes. That's why I suggested that you take the board from me in the first place.
To be honest, I was a little upset and hurt by your post.
Also, the way you worded your post, it almost gives the implication that we didn't agree with you wanting Mad Monkey here and that is simply NOT true. You never even mentioned adding him as a mod to me. I would have wholeheartedly agreed!
I enjoyed being a part of this board for the time I was involved here, and I thank you for having me here.
Mad Monkey: Welcome and congrats on being a new mod on this board. I'm sure you will make a wonderful addition and be a good support to Texas Toest and give this board the attention it deserves. Thanks for stepping up! </b>
baddessi: Texas was joking I am sure and it was not meant to be taken seriously at all. It is easy done to take something out of context on these boards.
Ewe: Interesting you brought in Patti Smith. There were some interviews last week on National Public Radio in which she interviewed Bob Dylan. I thought they might be up on their podcasts, but the NPR website doesn't find them. Something else to check into.
