Jim Dandy: I've never quite understood covering songs without adding anything to it. Of course doing covers is good for beginning artists, but Dream Theater does not really qualify for that :) In my opinion if you do a cover you should add your personal touch to it and not just play it just like the original.
DT is great band with lots of talent in all instruments and they do MOP flawlessly in here. Even too flawlessly for this song :) And i think LaBries voice is not really suited for this..
puupia: I'd have to agree, the Grateful Dead were masters at adding their own special spice to covers.Dream Theater is a band I have been aware of for years, but have never really explored, though I know they have very dedicated fans. Was this a covers tour?
Jim Dandy: I'm not sure where this was from. Anyways DT has done a LOT of covers and all the time they do it just like the original version. Actually they have done whole Master of Puppets album live, also Number of the Beast album from Iron Maiden and also the full Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.
I like DT a lot but i don't see the point in doing all those coversongs.
baddessi:If you go to the UTube page, on the right of the screen you will see a box with a description of the video, and under that to links, one is the URL and the other the Embed. Just click inside the Embed box, and copy that link, then paste it here
MadMonkey: hm..I tried that and it didn't work. I will try again! Thanks!
Tried again and copied the link (it's a looooooooong link right?) and when I come to paste it here, it won't give me the paste option...yet I did the exact same thing with the link and it worked...it's probably my computer...I'm using chrome, would that make a difference?
Korpiklaani is one of my favourite bands nowadays. Their live shows are insanely good! Go and see them if they come nearby.. They are touring US and Canada now.
Nirvana: Can't believe that Norway actually won with such a big difference to the next competitors. It was same crap as most of the others songs in there too.. But then again i almost never have liked the winning songs in ESC. Nor most of the other songs entered either.. And still i watch the show almost every time, maybe i'm a bit of masochist :P
The second placed entry from Iceland seemed more like a winning material to me. And my absolute favourite was Patricia Kaas from France, very strong performance!
WILD-TURKEY sent me this along with this description:
Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering work I think I have ever seen. It is a composite audio/video of song whereby additional tracks were laid in by different singers and musicians from different places around the world. The finished product is tremendous!
The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters. This composite version is a real toe tapper.
件名: Re: Total Eclipse of the Heart: Literal Video Version
rod03801: Yes, as far as i know that is the original video for Total Eclipse, only the lyrics were changed. I don't know if its done to other videos, i just got that link minutes before i posted it here..
More than 200 dancers were performing their version of "Do Re Mi", in the Central Station of Antwerp. with just 2 rehearsals they created this amazing stunt! Those 4 fantastic minutes started the 23 of march 2009, 08:00 AM. It is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role, in the musical of "The Sound of Music".
