plaintiger: that has grown to 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide and I have to battle to get in there and when I do it says "Feed Me" and won,t let me out untill I agree!
Foxy Lady: yes Ma'am - spider plants. the hanging plants with the cascading leaves and the tendrils that send off more little spiders...they can reach from the ceiling to the floor, kind of like weeping willows for the indoors. :)
WatfordFC:
I have had spider plants for years and grown others off them, they are supposed to have a calming influence, don,t think it ever worked on me though lol!
Foxy Lady: yep, same here Ma'am - or it was the same here during the day (it's nighty-night now). we were supposed to have rain...well, in the afternoon, and it did cloud up and sprinkle just a teensy bit - misting, really - very briefly after dark. but i went shooting with a photography group today and it was sunny and beautiful the whole while!
You are right...today we had a surprise visit of the sun. I was able to plant up some things in my mother-in-law's garden in between showers. Lucky!
And she loved it. I pulled out 3 overgrown rose bushes and transplanted them for her to another area. Then I put in 3 trellises with clematis, along with blue salvia, rose pentas, tricolor sweet potatoe vine, pink shades gazania and white sweet alyssum. It's going to be very pretty for her all summer
ajtgirl: same here, Ma'am - what the Fox said. but that's to be expected...the three of us aren't all that far from one another.
evidently we're expecting T-storms tomorrow...and i'm supposed to go shooting (cameras, that is) with a bunch of people down on the south shore. hmm...
Just in time for Mother's day and planting season, those of us in the northeast are looking forward to over a week of rain.
I really dislike gardening in the rain...but, the plants actually love it. In fact, optimum conditions for planting anything is during cloudy weather. There is less shock to the plant when the skies are grey.
ajtgirl: We did get the garden tilled today,a load of topsoil added.Got the peatmoss, and pearlite in.Hopefuly we can get the compost tilled in tomorrow its ripe. Were too early to plant anything been running in the 30's and 40's nites.
I broke my own rule because the weather has been mild
I have planted verbena, begonias, osteospermum, diascia, geraniums, lobelia, ageratum, nierembergia, scavoela, alyssum, browalia, coleous and dusty miller.
I don't forcee another freeze here in NY and the plants have been hardened off enough they should be ready.
Yet to plant: Gazanias, madevilla, wave petunias
They're a little more tender
My grandpaents took me to the NY Worlds Fair in 1964, and Disney had an exhibit of It's a Small World... with the boats and singing figures from all over the world. It was so enchanting when I was 8 and my grandmother loved it too!
We were all so innocent and secure back then...I guess
i've never been to disneyworld, so i couldn't tell You. i should go. i really enjoyed disneyland the three or so times i went.
*sings* iiiiit's a small world aaaaafter all! iiiiit's a small world aaaaafter all! iiiiit's a small world aaaaafter all! it's a small, small worrrrrrlllld!
When I was at Disneyworld 10 years ago they had a tour through a gigantic greenhouse where everything was growing in water. I wonder if it's still there.
Foxy Lady: If you do make sure they pour the growing medium into the base in a well ventrulated area, preferbly outside, it is very dusty as you pour it out.
Mousetrap: Hey i may get my oldest one of those greenhouses.I saw a TV program where they had tomatoe plants growing in water. It amazed me how big they were.
