MadMonkey: I haven't seen anything strange with my clocks. I did notice that in quite a number of games my opponent timed out the last few days. But in all those cases, they are players who make it a habit to only move if they have a few hours left to move. The past hour, 3 games where I made the last move in June 29. And earlier this week, a handful of games against a famous player who was spending a fortune buying vacation days. So, *I*'m not complaining. If the side effect of a few hours of down time is that snails are timing out, I can only wish for more down time.
Fencer: Better not name it 3.0, all releases named 3.0 tend to have so many bugs in them they have to be followed up by a 3.1 soon after. Notable examples are MS word, MS windows, Firefox. If I were a release manager I'd treat a 3.0 as a 13th floor, something to be jumped over
MadMonkey: yes weve all been thou the same problem i had over 500 games all with the same time other day over 200 this morning but now ive moved on them they should go back to normal timings
pauloaguia: I think the one that caused your problem is already fixed. This one is probably a consequence of the recent short downtime and BrainKing's automatic attempt to compensate the time loss. Well, it's another thing to improve for the 3.0 version. Anyway, it is always recommended to change vacation days after playing all games, not before.
tinksbell: Did you happen to change your vacation days? I got that, some time ago when I removed a vacation day from the end of my vacations. Many games of mine (the non Fischer clock ones) went suddenly from 3 days left to -8 or -9 days left. Since that day was already marked as a vacation day I ended up not timing up on any of those games, but I got quite a scare.
MadMonkey: Its particularly depressing as I was going to finally win some of those hard to win Pente & Keryo Pente games, they were in tournaments. :-(
tinksbell: Yesterday (or was it the day before) i got here to find i had 120 games ALL with the same time on and they were all timing out 35 minutes after i got here. I tried my best, but still had time outs
I presume this was something to do when the site was down the other day, i can not see any other way to end up with all those games having the same time
Bernice: I am not sure if any of them were, but it should not have changed from 14 hours to move to -4day. It is impossible to fix that on the users end...
I just got timed out on 6 games, an hour ago I had 14 hours on all the games. Very confused on what is happening to the system... & disappointed. Not sure what to do about it...
For those who do not read BrainKing.info blog. I have started a BrainKing page at Facebook and it is the recommended place to join our discussion about the upcoming new version of BrainKing. Everybody is welcome to add own suggestions or opinions.
beach: It's a side effect of the recovery system in case of temporarily disabled timeouts. It tries to balance the time left but does not count with weekend and vacation days. It will be self-fixed when you make a move.
I think that I will announce the BrainKing Facebook page soon, because I want to use it for instant and quick messages of this kind.
2 days are now being added as of this morning last night all my 3 day games were over 4 days 23 which is what they should have been this morning I log on and all those games are 2 days 23 hrs so I lost time not gained time, talked to a couple of other people and they have the same thing, and all games should not have had the same amount of time this morning, they are all played at different times
beach: Well, I have noticed that 2 days have been added to all of my games. Maybe you should dig a little deeper in the list of your games to find those. :)
anyone else notice the times for games moves changed on the games today, 3 day games that should read 4 days 23 hrs changed back to 2 days 23 hrs also when I make a move in these games it goes to 2 days 23 hrs, my weekend days are Sat and Sun so they should go to 4 days 23 hrs, something has to be wrong with the clocks, when I logged in this morning all my games were at the same time 2 days 23 hrs
Due to a broken optical link (somewhere in Prague) BrainKing is currently not accessible for the most users outside Czech Republic. Game timeouts have been stopped until the problem is solved.
Czuch: Well whatever, lol. I wasn't thinking it all the way out. Her point still was that games aren't played out all the way, if they don't need to be.
If you haven't read the whole thread, you will see where she is coming from, if you do.
I'm as American as any other American, and I have certainly resigned games that are mathematically impossible for me to win, and I feel comfortable saying that probably most others do as well. It was an inaccurate generalization on the part of tfra11.
awesome: Right, her point was that in baseball (considered the "American sport") games DO end when there is no mathematical way for the team to win. This was in response to tfra11 who is trying to say that it is "UnAmerican" to resign a game that is definitely lost.
