Beren the 32nd: I agree. I have opponents timing out for the 8-10th time in a row in the same match. A match should be one unit when it comes to timeouts.
How about adding the piece names as tooltips when we hold the mouse over the shogi pieces? So when I hold the mouse over a pawn, a tooltip pops up saying "Pawn".
I thought about it because I have a hard time distinguishing some of the captured pieces, since they are smaller. But it would be useful on the pieces on the board too, for people switching from westernized to traditional pieces.
This could perhaps be optional, and it's also possible for people to turn of tooltips in their browser (well at least in my browser) if they don't like them.
Sometimes I overlook single black checkers on the purple fields. Would it be possible to have a few options for the field colours, as we have in chess?
Hrqls: I wasn't really thinking about tournaments when I gave the suggestion. In non-turnament games you can start if you have x or more available slots, and the number of games will never increase during the match - only decrease. So the limited number of game slots shouldn't be a problem.
For tournaments it could start as many games as possible within the membership limit, and fill it up as game spots becomes available.
Or simply limit the feature in tournaments to certain membership levels.
Btw., the suggestion is meant as an option when creating the match, not as a replacement of the good old way.
How about an option to start the least number of required games in the x wins/points/games match at once?
So when the match starts, we will get x games at once. And as the games are ending, start new ones if the remaining games are less than the least number of required games to finish the match.
Example 5 wins match:
-Start 5 new games
-Player A wins a game. Score is 1-0. The remaining 4 games might be enough to end the match, so no new game started.
-Player B wins a game. score is 1-1. The 3 remaining games are not enough to end the match, so one new game is started.
-etc.
This suggestion is of course not suitable to the ordinary backgammon matches(with doubling, gammons and backgammons) which are planned.
EdTrice: The captain choose the required number of players from the the team when signing up for a tournament. The rest of the players are still members of the team, but are "sitting out".
Sort games by last move time, ascending, cycles through your games. Came in handy when I came back after a 5 day leave the other day. And I've kept it there, so the games with longer time limits aren't neglected.
How about separating the 5 extra checkers from the checkers that are hit? Either by giving them different appearences, or putting the extra checkers elsewhere.
pauloaguia: Yes, I've made lots of mistakes, but I've never repeated them 80 times in a row during a few minutes......
ughaibu: Nice idea about replacement games in the waiting room.
Anyway, I guess it was silly of me to post so many games at one time. It kind of messes up the waiting room. I just wanted to get games going without thinking about it too often..

How about setting a limit for how many games we can delete a day, or something like that. Just got 80 messages saying leonr (http://brainking.com/game/Profile?u=9394 ) had deleted my games which he had joined.
