Sam has closed his piano and gone to bed ... now we can talk about the real stuff of life ... love, liberty and games such as Janus, Capablanca Random, Embassy Chess & the odd mention of other 10x8 variants is welcome too

If gothic chess is to become the new standard, than it stands to reason that future variants would use it as their starting point, rather than FIDE chess. I'm not sure if the gothic patent would allow that, though?
Onderwerp: Dark Gothic...wouldn't that sound cool?
oh, for sure it would! Just like chess variants today, it doesn't matter that the pieces are all the same, just as long as some rules are different. Gothic chess itself is based on Bird and Capa chess, GI himself even acknowledged that when filing for the patent. The patent protects the game of Gothic chess as his intellectual property. I was thinking, though, based on Walter Montego's suggestion, that maybe Janus extinction is better than gothic extinction because of the two Januses? I would sure love to try both though.
Although it is an exciting variant,I am very sure that "Gothic Chess" will n o t become a new chessstandard in the next hundred years. And because we have so many good and original variants at "Chessvariants.com" I am against intermixtures of variants...
For myself I would have nothing against such a developement, because I like this game. But I think it is completely unrealistic for the next 20-30 years. The future will show it...
But interesting : Does your patent include such "Gothic variants"?

Okay let`s make an experiment: You can send me an article with the theme "introduction in Gothicchess" and the title "The future of chess" or something and I will publish it in the known German Chessnewspaper "Rochade Europa". Perhaps we can add some of the best played games here or eleswhere. And then we wait for the comments of the great German Chess Community with many experts and topplayers. But the article should be in German,if you have someone who can translate (My English is not so good).Perhaps we can get at least some better (curious) players here in the future as now. :)
I think the article could be so big as you want,so much content as you have.Normally the "Rochade-Europa" publishes scientific articles about all themes of chess.Games and diagrams would be very good and the Microsoft Word format also.
After the article was published I will inform over it and about some reactions of the readers.
Play a game with me of Gothic chess, no bets no nothing, just a straight forward game, I will definately lose, but what the heck, its a game site isnt it?
Why would you leave the site? There is a lot to learn about Gothic from you. If you want to popularize the game, surely this is an ideal forum of labile minds. Don't let minor personality conflicts dissuade you.
I think the leaving the site was a "chucking the dummy" scenario, didnt get what he wanted when he wanted it.
I think the game would do better if he was still here, but he threatened to leave before, but came back anyways.
As Dano says , its a pubity rights thing "I got bigger and better than you so do as I say" sort of thing

a ludicrous ex who obviously can't get over it ? eh bleh - btw it takes
mastership of social skills to stand ballistic board-lives like you for so long
while your whole pity board-life will be not long enough to grasp I'm comfy ... ~*~
PS: belated fiddling in of the word 'gothic' doesn't make your fixative humbug noteworthy
Well, what makes this board so interesting is the cast of characters :)
As an outside observer I can try to classify them.
Ed Trice - smart person but sometimes with childish way of thinking, "I am the best, you will never beat me, you are nothing compared to me, get out of my eyes; or play using my rules and be always polite" now acting as a chameleon, his fear of losses in all areas is very visible, strange and unusual
Caissus - pragmatic, smart, always acting friendly, the type of person we all are looking after
Danoschek - rarely seen, hard to decipher, seems smart but lately bound to repeat always the same type phrases, trying to irritate observers and to get them to his side, but may be its just some kind of hatred what leads his steps, may be he would like to be the best, but someone is in his way, there are some similarities with Trice person model possibly
Stevie - "let me have some fun, I like to provoke some nerds :P"
ScarletRose - long lost love? :P jk
Good there are still few notices about the game itself here and there on this board :D
Pity after developing engines like vortex will offline games turn into "my program against your program", "my computer against your computer like in chess", so some fans will seek for online competition in faster games instead.
Ugh, little feature request, this message editor is waaaay too small...
