If you like Clash, listen to Theatre of Hate. Features Mick Jones on guitars and production, Billy Duffy (The Cult on guitars) and Nigel Preston (Cult) on drums... Kirk randon (Spear of Destiny) is the singer...
Well Ramones, you have to clean up your ears to listen to Theatre of Hate... Besides that, I think I´ve seen Theatre of Hate in the music list you have sent to this DB...
Let the ripper free EIHN ... some of these latest comments (IMO) are over the top for a public board. Andre, if you want to carry on with this banter you need to become a member and do it in a fellowship where the posting rules are more relaxed.
I know you asked Slam but since its a Tallica topic I gotta jump in. Saint Anger was pretty disappointing really. Any metal head must love Master o Puppets but even Load an Reload are awesome CD's
Hi Kitti. I didn't realize it was that widely disliked. I Dont completely dislike all songs on Saint nNger but it was a definite departure for them.
Bob Rock had a ton of influence on that one (Bob Rock also was the cause of the demise of Sound Garden so in my books he aint so great)
Maybe i was exaggerating a bit, but lots of people i've talked to are not very fond of it. And i've read many negative reviews also. Anyways st. anger seems to grow on me, i like it more and more everytime i listen to it. And in my book that is the definition of a good cd :) I'd rank it among their top three albums with Master of puppets and And justice for all.. Sure its different from before but there's no need to do the same stuff over and over again.
About Bob Rock, i was quite worried what would happen when they first started working with him. They've survived for ten years without him completely destroying the band, so maybe he should be given some credit ;)
kitti: I will put in Saint Anger tonite and have a nother listen or two to it. I do think And Justice for all was likely their best works. Only my opinion though!
Do you think Bob Rock has helped the band since he has been with them?
Sure he has, although its only only guesswork on my part. He's very professional and good at what he does (== making money, isn't that what music is all about nowadays). I doubt Metallica wouldn't be as big as they are now had they never worked with Bob.
That being said, i don't exactly like the influence he has had on their sound over the years. Allthough its quite hard to say what comes from the band itself and what from the producer. And its almost impossible to try and think what would have happened with another producer..
Well.. The sounds are a bit shallow, lyrics are quite cheesy and James sounds like the kid he was when that was recorded. And despite all that its a great album :) Its the record that really got me hooked into metal. What do you think of it?
