diogenysos: thats one of the sites i have tried and the different Passwords i have tried is crazyyyyyyyy
I do not think in the end its a BIOS Password, its either a Power on one OR something that they may have installed when it was in the shop as a display
diogenysos: Nope it says at bottom of screen <f2> to enter setup & <f12> to enter boot menu.
<f2> does show you set up, but as it does, the 'Enter Password' box comes up again <f12> does not appear to do anything <f8> will not work well in fact i have tried all of them and the other normal ones Esc, Ins etc....
A friend of mine gave me a Advent Laptop he had a problem with. It was an ex shop display one that used to have shop software running. Anyway, when he brought it they unlocked it for him and removed anything of theirs. It has been running fine for months, then last week it just froze, so he switched it off. Now when it starts it jumps up with 'Enter Password' Now he has not set one anyway. So the question is what is this password ? I am guessing it is a Power on Password or BIOS related anyway. Either way i can not get past it. It will not let me into BIOS, so can not alter boot sequence to goto DVD first. I have removed CMOS battery for 12 hours and its not helped. There are no jumpers on the Motherboard, so thats not an option.

The finalists have been chosen and voting has begun! We received close to 2,000 submissions from a growing global community of over 3,400 members on the Flickr contest group. Picking the top 5 was a very challenging task as there were many amazing designs to choose from. But the final decision is up to you!
Please take a moment and help us select the official Firefox 3 t-shirt by voting for your favorite design on the Mozilla Store. Voting will end on Sunday March 30th at 11:59 PM (PST). We’re excited to see which design wins!
Snoopy: I know, this is the first version they have recommended for general users though (yet its not said on MozillaZine yet), although it is not the final release
I got this update from PC Pro this morning, Firefox 3.0 will be out in June
I am trying it right now, and boy is it fast
This has not been announced yet by Mozilla, even though that PC Pro press says they are going to. It is not the final edition and many Extensions do not work with 3.0 yet. If you would like to test it without losing your current setup (as normally it would over right your current one) download this HERE and run it on its own
I just downloaded some more FREE software that comes with my monthly Windows Advisor update (well worth subscribing if you live on your PC like me).
If you like the Vista start menu set up, but are running XP, then why not download Vista Start Menu
The Windows Advisor itself is great. You can learn absolutely everything about the inner depths of Windows itself, and how to modify your Registry to make your PC work for you
volant & Erissa: The spider lol Here he is Spider, he just follows the cursor , i added the Tree frog as well, he does the same and eats the flies you give him as well ......oh little things please little minds lol
I think it has some great games there i have Chess, Poker, Frogger, Space Invaders, Helicopter, Hangman, Suduko at the moment, but there are hundreds
volant: I started with 5 Tabs, but then got carried away and started adding pointless stuff
Now i have just two. One for important stuff (News, Sport, Weather, RSS etc.....oh and the Spider, he is great), and one tab with a few nice games on for when i can not get on here lol

Christoph Daum: That looks pretty neat, just looked it up on ebay, only $9.50
Seems cheep for such a useful gadget. So, you plug a keyboard, mouse and one monitor in to it, and up to 4 base units, then you can switch between them ?
I subscribe to a website called Lockergnome, and amazing place that keeps you (well me anyway lol) in contact with technology. Most the stuff i look at on there, or via there free newsletter is Computer related. Just a thing that i got in todays newsletter was an article about a problem i am sure many of you multi-computer users come across.
I repair and build computers, so when i am sitting here i have at least 3 PC's on and obviously keyboards to access them. So this short article Attention Keyboard designers was quite interesting and very true
If you find that interesting, why not subscribe to the newsletter, it very interesting
diogenysos: Well i think we have found the problem It seems if she boots without her printer connected, its fine (but still slow), but why the printer should be causing a problem i do not know Anyway, i have to go to hers to sort a few things today, so i will have another look
coan.net: Snap, thats the only conclusion i could come up with, thats why i told her to unplug the Ethernet cable. The only other thing she has is a printer, just waiting for her to call back. Crazy things these PC's
Now i think i am quite good with Computers, as i spend all day working and repairing them BUT todays problem is a good one i may have to look at tomorrow AGAIN, even though i have just spent 2 hours sorting it out (so i thought)
My sister has a PC with XP running on it at her home. She rang me to say when it boots, it gets to the select user screen, but when you select someone it just sits there, shows egg timer for a bit, then nothing, just stays where it is. It will not let you go past there
She brought the base unit to me today. I managed to get it to boot past there BUT very, very slowly. She had not run a disk clean ever and it had just about 2gb of rubbish on there which i got rid of.
Anyway, after that i downloaded CCleaner & Auslogics Disk Defragmenter so she could run these 2 great programs every so often.
I connected it to my cable, booted it up and logged in as normal, it was fine, just a bit slow if anything, but she does not have much RAM so thats ok.
It worked fine......Now she has taken it home, plugged it in, AND it stuck in exactly the same place. It will not let her get past that select user screen (With or without cable connected).
Problem............Why is it doing it over her house and not here ???
ellieoop: Never seen the problem before, but i had a look about for it (Google is great for finding errors answers lol) Have a look at this page ip address conflict in essence just follow this start > run > type cmd from the command prompt type ipconfig /release then hit enter.... when that finishes hit the up arrow and make the "release" into "renew" then hit enter, exit from cmd
coan.net: When i downloaded it i also downloaded the Web Security which runs in the background as the article i read does recommend it (but i guess that for people who have no such software installed)
I also have the software that runs with my Broadband package, thats running all the time as well, but i do not trust it. They want me to upgrade to a paying version.
Thats partly the reason i was interested in the review in the first place
coan.net: I thought about that, but i have changed nothing lately. What makes it funnier (or worse to try and sort) is today it is as fast as ever, yet i have altered nothing. Process of elimination says that it may be something one of the Add-ons is getting hooked up on OR something else is taking up the RAM that Firefox needs, but when i look at all the running processes there is nothing and Firefox has all it should need. So whats the problem lol

............has my Firefox started running so slowly ? It is taking between 30 & 40 seconds to load a page. I know Firefox uses a lot of RAM, but this is getting crazy. It just seems to stop when loading a page and i get the dreaded (Not Responding) at the top of the page. I have no clue whats causing, it. I have tried cleaning old files etc... out (but i do that every day anyway), but no effect. There is plenty of room on my hard drive and i have nothing else running. The WORSE thing is that I.E. is fast as hell, when i just run it. Its just Firefox, when ever i run anything else this system is fast as anything. Anyone any ideas why it is on go slow ???
Onderwerp: Re: Monkey XP tip of the day (year....whatever)

This Fellowship is here for uses on brainking to discuss anything at all about Firefox and other Mozilla products. It will be kept up to date with all the latest happenings in the world of Firefox, the latest releases, new extensions & themes and any other information about it.
Also, for the member here, we can talk about any problems you may have, advice can be given or found out (via MozillaZine), advice on altering your about:config (Configuration Console) and hopefully creating your own Extension in the future (i am working on one now).
Oh, and as we are on brainking, we will have the odd few Tournaments
Is anyone else here using/or know anything about Extension Developers Extension for Firefox used for creating Firefox Extensions (Add-ons) ?
If so, could someone tell me what information is needed (and what can be left out) in Extension Builder when editing the install.rdf file ? (GUID and Version number are already there)
I know i have to make sure Firefox (not worried about T'bird & Mozilla suite) is ticked & Min / Max versions are included, but how much of the rest of that info is really needed to create the build .XPI file ?
I think i may create a Firefox Fellowship to discuss Firefox and all its different aspects.
Family Man: Well, i do not know what could be causing it then, Accuweather is running fine, but you could try to make sure you have the latest version or uninstall and reinstall it.
Have you got a decent virus scanner ? If not you can download AVG from grisoft for free from HERE
Family Man: Well i have exactly the same set up, and mine is loading fine, so presumming you have all the latest updates etc the problem is not that. I guess its your PC, is it only effecting accuweather or anything else ?

-------------------------------------------- As to why i have started getting these Error messages. It happened a couple of times yesterday, and lots today. Seems to happen more the faster i try to play. As far as i know i have not changed anything, apart from updating my virus scanner lately.

Being curious by nature, I thought I would take a look at Firefox 3, the next release of Firefox which is in Alpha stage 2, and not ready for public testing. But since I have a test box to throw the latest Firefox on, I thought why not.
Note: Alpha release are development software and are not meant for the general public to play with. So wait until the software is released to beta.
Well as the website states, the interface is Firefox 2. And nothing more, nothing less so far. But there is one thing I noticed right away. Whether it is planned or not, this browser is fast. Very, very fast. And during use, the memory problem that has effected other versions seems to have been tamed. I opened multiple versions of Firefox 3 and and multiple tabs and there was not that HUGE memory burst and cpu thrashing that I have seen before.
It seems that the developers are making some efforts to improving the overall performance of Firefox 3, and not just some cosmetic changes. Good job Mozilla team.
I’m looking forward to the beta of Firefox 3. Estimated release date of final version - end of 2007. Bring it on
For those that keep up to date about things, just a very little article about Firefox. Also, the site lockergnome is a great one to join (for free), you get a newsletter most days full of computer/internet stuff
Seriously, why is the space on my C: drive shrinking by the day, even though i am even deleting programs off it now to try and get some more? Got rid of emails, temp files, you name it....... Defrag wont even run now as i have less than 15% free.
clueless36: I know last night the site went back to giving me white pages after submitting a move, but no error messages about like before. Its as if the lines (maybe the site) were too busy. I have broadband and dont normally have any problems, or when i do at least others do. Last night after submitting a move. the game would go and done would come up in the status bar, then it would just sit there. Then after 10secs, 30secs or more it may carry on. In the end it stopped coming back, but if thats a site or line problem i do not know.
xmas is soon: Firefox is great. The problem is with less than 512 Ram you may get problems as more things run. XP uses alot of Ram itself, in fact if you have less than 256 i dont think it will even install.
"Snoopy": What size memory do you have ? It will struggle to run properly if you have Windows XP running it & only 256 of RAM. Also try to keep to only one window, with a max of about 8 Tabs. That helped me.
"Snoopy": It was me that told Rose about it, after you told me you used it. I thought it may solve some of her problems.
If she is having problems with Seamonkey (wonder if they are related to ME lol) as well, i wonder if it could be anything else. Thats all her browsers that she has hassle with.
Hrqls: It was not me that had the dice/boats problem. I kept getting game where either one or both dice were missing. Seems ok today (at the moment). I was getting parts of a Ludo board beside mine & my opponents name in games, where the little graph is. That was the latest thing. I look after my PC, clear it virtually every day, scan it & defrag it weekly, and my virus scanner and firewall are working fine. Funny enough, it only happens on this site, no where else i go. So as much as people say its not brainking, will someone tell me why it ONLY happens on this site ?
Hrqls: I use my Compaq Presrio, Windows XP home and use Firefox mainly, but do use I.E. sometimes. As i said it has only started last couple of weeks, since others have mentioned it as well i know its not just me. Maybe as it is others as well its microsoft, lets blame them
