Onderwerp: Re: Gooner's GAYP BK Championship. Invitational (Checkers)
I agree Ed. I was just trying please the masses. Its a minority of people who have actually played 3-move checkers. Its a shame it isn't incorperated into the site like IYT.
This is simply a reminder to those who are participating.
The tournament will start later this weekend & please remember that all participants have agreed to play each side of the following opening in all games, through all rounds:
9-13 22-18 10-14
This is known as THE INFERNO opening, a very difficult one which has only been recently approved by the ACF for the 3-Move Restriction Deck, after extensive testing via Mail-Play.
If there is any confusion remaining about which move or moves to make to begin your games (to ensure The Inferno is being played), please contact me or Nomad & we'll do our best to set you on the right track.
I wish you all great gaming & sportsmanship in the tournament. :o)
Just looked at the checker ratings for the first time in a long time and I see the number one player is Nomad. WTG James. Poet, great guy and member of my fellowship and now the top checker dude.
Espie isn't it sufficient that you teach me humility on the checker board? Our latest game on GT was a massacar where my checkers jumped off the board like popcorn in a microwave. At least give me the satisfaction of being able to pick on a peace loving young lady.
Hey, Purple, are you picking on a peace loving young lady? That's terrible! You, the reincarnation of checkers champions past, should be totally ashamed! ...except I don't believe in reincarnation. Well...cut it out anyway! You big purple smother!
Maybe. I find that reading a road map keeps me from going wrong sometimes, too. Ooooh, this may be off topic. Ah! But I was travelling to an important checker game. [Whoops. This post is a product of a sassy, silly sense of humor and was not intended as an editorial one way or the other regarding any editing or deleteing that may or may not have occurred now or in the past from the beginning of time until the end of time. Anything outside of those time boundaries...well, I'm probably guilty]
i applaud fencer for keeping this DB strictly checkers....now....i need to some pointers on how to beat people at the game...when i dont time out that is LOL...this DB is for checkers only...not for personal attacks or negative posts of ANY kind :)
seems that someone is posting messages that are not here?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe my system is acting up or something.
Maybe I have a corrupted FAT32 file allocation table.
Any suggestions?
I may be drawn to the Single Corner because as a child I too often was placed in a little chair facing the corner and make to sit there until I learned proper conduct or language. Instead, there in the single corner I plotted how to defeat all life's future opponents for their unfair treatment of me. Maybe if I had been allowed to take my doll, Smother Wilther, with me into the corner I would be a different player today!
Whew, with all that to choose from you'd think I could find an opening that would fit my style of play. Alas, haven't really discovered what my style of play is. Anyway, I want something that fits. A woman can't step in front of a mirror without a good fit.
The Wilther 11-15, 23-19, 9-14, 22-17, 7-11
Variation of the OLD Faithful Opening 11-15. There are at least 35 variants of the 11-15 openings published.
You inadvertantly transposed the "She won 50" numbers. The numbers for "She" are 05. Hmm, what you have seen as mercy is probably just incompetence when I failed to make the best move. Apathy is probably descriptive of my lack of proper study, but apathy...well, I don't care. :o)
LOL. Never claimed to read. But no modesty Espie. WAY UP on the IYT Ladder. We have played 150 games. She won 50, me 50, and 50 draws. She is one part mercy, one part apathy and one part sudden death. :)
Smother Wilther? Published? You actually read? No wonder my game is bad. About Smother Wilther, I had a doll who answered to that name. I didn't speak too plainly in those days so it just sounded that way to everyone. I've forgotten her real name. Sorry.
you may say that now, but take my word for it when I tell you my total checkers games is about to dramatically increase by a whopping 50% if you count Gothic Checkers after Steve beats me :)
It seems to me that he is progressing pawns to become kings which would also suggest to me progress is being made, no matter how small as GI stated.
Another question is, has the 40 move rule been called for officially? What happens if the opponent never reads these boards? The only way it should be called for is to have Fencer or someone notify the opponent that it has been called for. I wonder if this has officially happened yet? Even if it has, pawns progressing towards crowning in my opinion should be considered "showing progress"
