Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
Fencer: Would it be possible (well, i know it is, just if you have time lol) to have RSS Feeds for our Fellowship Discussion Boards please ?
I use Thunderbird to access all my email accounts and RSS Feeds (need Thunderbird icon lol)
For those who do not know, Thunderbird is Mozillas (who bring us Firefox) email client, that, like Firefox is awesome as well. What is more useful is having access to RSS Feeds from it is as well
Its nice to login in and be able check all my email accounts and RSS Feeds in one hit, one page all in plain simple Engilsh lol (especially if i am not staying and do not want to get caught up anywhere).
I have the Brainking Board and other Main boards on RSS, but it would be great if i could catch up on Fellowship posts as well
That, along with our Message Box on RSS would make it perfect
coan.net: and optionaly put the last point somewhere in the middle of the others so that the whole process can go faster and more people get to be interviewed
coan.net: Dont forget to add: Take votes on who people would like to be interviewed.. To make it fair so that not just your favourite friends are interviewed first..
The task of interviews was always a user started and ran "job" which harley started as a way to find out more about some of the other users. After about 2-3 interviews, Fencer then made a place on the site for them.
The job tasks:
Choose who you think should be interviewed. (make sure they are OK with it.)
Accept questions from people for a set amount of time.
After you get the questions, try to "Orginize" the questions if possible. That is if there are 5 "why did you pick that name" questions - you can remove 4 of them so they are only asked 1. Plus any other type of "ordering" you would want to do - may put BrainKing related questions first, and "personal" questions towards end of interview. Also edit out "mean" questions and foul language.
Send questions to person being interviewed.
Once the questions are answered, they should send it back to you.
Do any last editing if needed - possible make sure no foul language or personal insults are hidden in the answers.
Send a copy to Fencer, and he will post them where they need to be.
Tuesday: well, he never edited any of my questions Don't worry, if some editing ever becomes necessary, it will be discussed with the author... assuming I get the job, that is
pauloaguia: I can just about say she wont want it back...her life is so full I dont think she spends all that much time on here anymore....but that is only from PM's I got that impression.
Rose: It doesn't seem an hard task... if nobody else wants it, I can take the job Of course, provided harley doesn't want her old job back again, now that she's returned...
So anyone who is interested in helping to keep them going please speak up. It would be great to have them back on track again. They have been lacking for months..
Bernice: i think the ending statement on his profile says - "As for the interviews, well, I bet there are many other volunteers out there."
So - as they are a part of this board - at least advertised here - who knows how King R was selected to begin with - maybe interested people could send me a message and ill give it to fencer? or maybe just ask him yourself? why let the interviews die? anyone interested?
I know it was requested a while ago that once you hit 'delete', you would get a popup to confirm that is what you wish to do. It is a great idea and would solve these problems of deleting posts by mistake, maybe Fencer has not had chance to write the code yet (if he agrees that is lol)
I did not know that I deleted the post. I have a problem with the delete button. I explained it to Tuesday. The delete button is right on top of the reply. It looks like this. delete reply edit I pushed the wrong button. I did not know until it was drawn to my attention. I would have posted that it was deleted by mistalke. Now is there any way that Fencer can put the delete button away from the reply? I am on webtv and that may be the reason it is like it is. Thanks and sorry this happened. BARB
Purple: I was going to say, much like it is bad form for cops to disagree and not show unity in public, the same credo can easily invade the global mod world.
It's a volunteer position, you're going to attract two types of people (and I've encountered both)One type is someone who just likes to help and be involved(the vast majority) the other tye is power tripping.
Jim Dandy: In theory they answer to Fencer but he takes little notice of complaints about them. They answer to each other and cover their backs quite well. It is a lost cause.
Eriisa: naw,but I was interested if it is requred for global mods to follow this stated order of procedure,or can they just bypass it without needing to be accountable and respectful of the moderators duties.Respect is a two way street
coan.net: I honestly don't know what happened to the post Tuesday mentioned. I'm afraid it was accidently deleted but have no idea by whom. Either way I'm very sorry that happened.
Tuesday: .... it is also WAY TOO EASY to accedently remove a post also. So not always is someone trying to be mean - but might have been an accedental hit of the delete button... and sometimes without even knowing..... since how this site loads, it is "funky" how the page will shift over while loading different parts - and if you line up your mouse to click on someting, and the page shifts and you then press the button - it could then be over the delete button..... and if the person is not paying attention, may not even know then done it. (I'm sure I've done that before on accedent) Of course only the moderators & global moderators see that option - but a request to have a second "confirm" page would be very helpful.
If the moderator does not know what happen to it - you could always try to repost it.
Tuesday: Yes I'm a global moderator, but I don't take issues here in the public boards.
If you have a question about something being moderated, you need to first talk to the moderator of the board.
If you feel they are wrong, or something else is wrong - a private PM to me (or another global moderator) can help by stepping in and trying to help resolve the issue.
If you feel you need my help, send me a private PM - let me know what you posted (if you remember exactly) and I can then see what I can do to help.
Tuesday: Did you pay for a 6 month rook membership - it is already in there in your profile - but is set to start after your knight membership expires.
If you want it to do something different, then you will need to send Fencer a private PM and let him know - since the automatic system will only "add on" the extra time to your existing membership.
Pbarb2: You can find the BugTracker on the main menu, it's one of the last options, between Contacts and Links. Or you can just use the link: http://brainking.com/pt/BugTracker

coan.net: OK I understand it now. I never had it like this before.. I am in Florida. I was going by 2 p.m. Maybe my time is set wrong. It just happens on Thursday. That it takes two days. Oh well..Its not that important.. But was wondering what is happening. I am on webtv so I thought maybe was because of that. I can't use some functions. Thanks Coen
Pbarb2: For the time, it like you said it goes by server (Fencer) time - here in the USA, Central Time zone that I'm in - 5pm is midnight for the server.
So if I have a game use an auto vacation at 4:50pm - it will use todays auto-vacation. If I then have a second game use an auto vacation at 5:10pm - it will use tomorrows auto-vacation (since the server is already on "tomorrow")
Eriisa: Where is the bug tracker? I don't see that either. You gave me an addy now so can get there. I thought it was a board. I had this 0 thing about 4 times with games but never in the first time without playing a move. I know its only a game but if it is fixable it should be looked into. Is there anyway to check on vacation time? I know when I have to use it on a Thursday the Friday comes up too. Usually a few hours after. I know we go by Fencers time. I don't think that is the problem. Just would like it checked out if it can be. Been going on a few months now. Thanks for your help in this..Eriisa BARB
Pbarb2: I put it in the Bug Tracker for you. Lets see what others find. I've had that were there's suddenly a 0 entered, but I had just assumed I clicked the wrong box previously. I'll watch closer myself.
