There is a board specifically for jokes, please post to the correct boards, thanks :o)

I didn't say it was fair, just that that is most likely the reason.

I would think its because the moderator of the story board is a pawn, so unable to do her job if she can't post there.

Of course I agree :o) Its by far the best site in my opinion. But I don't think it does the site any good if new people come here and the first board they visit is full of crisicism about a site they may consider pretty good. They may not stick around to find out what a great site this really is. I'd like to think that the players here are above bashing another site to make this one look good. We all know BK is a wonderful place, with wonderful people. That will shine through without comparing this site to others :oD

1. februar 2004, 11:25:38
harley
How about I re-phrase that then?
People do no want to come to BrainKing to see the players here throwing insults at another games site, particularly one where they may still enjoy playing games there.

31. januar 2004, 21:40:54
harley
I know its tempting to compare BrainKing to other games sites, but I would ask that you don't make insulting remarks about other sites. They are not here to defend themselves and it isn't helpful to BrainKing. Thanks :o)

Thanks, and a big thank you to noholdsbarred who took the time to visit me and brave my troop of kids and pets to do the interview! He's spent a lot of time on that, and I'm amazed by the result. Thanks, noholds :o)

Bernice, I sometimes look at archived games if I'm trying to remember a conversation I had with someone - but I have so many now I often give up very quickly! I also look at what games I have played with other people, I think thats a nifty little feature on other peoples profiles!

....Chattytea!!

Get your questions in to me for this high moving, chatty lady!! Let me know if I can use your name on the question, and don't be shy, if she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to answer it!

21. januar 2004, 08:41:14
harley
Bernice, thats only possible if someone has access to your account - I very much doubt thats the case for you so I suggest you contact the tournament organiser and ask if they have changed the name.

Lythande, I don't think there have been any changes in anti-checkers. I never use other windows when I'm playing so I'm not quite sure what you mean. But thats more likely than a change in rules!

19. januar 2004, 21:59:42
harley
Hi Bernice :o)

I had a look at the tourney games and they've all made a move today. It seems they are just moving more slowly than the other players. It happens :o) As long as they move in the time allowed they won't time out, and the tournament will stay as 'running'. It shouldn't be long before they're done, but there doesn't seem to be any problem with the tourney that I can see.

19. januar 2004, 08:57:14
harley
Are there still ongoing games in these tournaments, Bernice? If there are than it will show as being a running tournament until a winner is declared.

If you didn't get a blank message from me, ughaibu, I don't think they went. It would have said 'message sent' anyway, I'm sure.

16. januar 2004, 18:14:59
harley
You're right Rose! It threw me back to 'write new message'!

16. januar 2004, 18:12:40
harley
I've never tried, I'll send you a message with subject line only, see if you get it :o)

16. januar 2004, 18:08:06
harley
Did that make sense? I just re-read it and it sounded complicated!

16. januar 2004, 18:01:48
harley
If you put someone on enemies that is on your friends list, they will disappear.
And if you are on their friends list, and you put them on enemies, you disappear off their friends list.

But, if someone places you on their enemies list, its possible for you to place them on your enemies list, so they cannot contact you.

16. januar 2004, 17:45:29
harley
Thats right, ughaibu.

LOL! Patience, Lythande! Bumble sent me his replies today, I asked him to check a couple of things, and then I'll pass them to Fencer to be put at BrainKing.info. It should be very soon :o)

This isn't the board to argue/discuss about this. Like it or not, he's banned. That won't change by filling this board with discussions about his behaviour, past or present, especially when he can't respond.

Any last minute questions for Bumble before I send him the interview questions? you have about an hour!

Linda's post... Boost a pawn
There is a program here at brainking where a needy pawn can get an upgrade to member status for 6 months free of charge.
Pawns must play here regularly. Be at or near their game limit and cannot afford to pay for membership. If you are a pawn or know of a pawn that fits into this category please message me for more information to be considered into this program. Membership is for 6 months only.

Please only those that qualify should apply. Thanks.

harley
MM, its Linda's fellowship, therefore down to her who is allowed.
Steve, why am I 'stirring'? I didn't start the club, I didn't announce it. I'm just asking that you give LINDA a chance to develop HER idea. In what possible way is this 'stirring'?

3. januar 2004, 13:45:55
harley
Do you see something wrong with Linda's idea, Steve? I think its very generous and kind of her.
The Sultan of Brunei has lots of personal wealth while all the people around him are very poor, I think thats what Ughaibu is referring to.
MM, you're right, if any rooks or knights had financial problem, nobody would offer to help out would they? Now you know better than that. This programme is a different thing completely. And its JUST started, so give Linda a chance to develop it, maybe to include people who are already members if its successful. But don't give her a hard time while she works out the details.

I think its just when various countries have changed to 2004.

If your game has timed out without reason, send Fencer the game number and I'm sure he'll re-instate the games when he comes online.

Thanks for doing the link again, Rose! And don't forget, Bumble is the next interviewee! Send me questions for him!

That discussion is going on at the fellowship discussion board, sLaM - but the idea of limits is about how many you run, not how many you belong to.

26. desember 2003, 22:47:47
harley
LOL she knows I'm kidding Steve! (Although I will probably tidy this bit up before long!)

ROFLMAO, now you know I'll have to delete that, Bernice!! Not on topic at all!! LOL! :oP

Well I know Fencer had a day off on Xmas day, but nobody said the calendar could too! Sheesh, while the cats away....!!!

26. desember 2003, 22:14:15
harley
Are you sure? I could have sworn it said Brian on Xmas Eve. I could be wrong though!

26. desember 2003, 22:02:27
harley
Mine reads like this... "The most active users
This list displays the players who made the most moves yesterday (24. December 2003)."

That should read 25. December 2003 shouldn't it?

26. desember 2003, 21:33:19
harley
I've just noticed that the most active player list wasn't updated yesterday. Is this normal on every public holiday, or is it just because its Christmas? (Or is it a glitch?!)

26. desember 2003, 20:17:16
harley
Fencer is dealing with that issue after Xmas, even he needs a break! You know he will do what he feels is best for BrainKing. :o)

Yes, there are people who care. Nobody likes cheating. Tournaments are run by fellow members and as much as they can, they do seem to check as much as possible. Some members remove people (usually pawns) who have not played X amount of games, or don't have an established rating. But this is best said at the tournaments board. My point is that members run tournaments how they see fit. If you think there is a cheat in the tournament, write to the creator about it, or just don't play in that one yourself.

25. desember 2003, 09:02:37
harley
MattJeffrey, you can't play against a computer here, they're all real live opponents! Either go to 'waiting games' and choose a game & opponent, or put your own game in with 'waiting games' by clicking on 'new game' and following the instructions there.

24. desember 2003, 23:13:03
harley
Ahh yes, sorry, Steve is right! It does include vacation days! So if you were playing a one day per move game, and it was friday, it would show 3 days remaining - because of Saturday and Sunday being normal vacation days.
Go to 'settings' and 'calendar' and it shows site holidays, like Xmas day etc. You can't time out on these days so it adds it to the time remaining for your opponent :o)

24. desember 2003, 22:30:08
harley
Unbeatable, do you mean a tournament just for your team members? If so, see the big boss, they can arrange it.

IMupChucKing - I think the 15 days left are not including vacation days, if you look on your opponents profile it will show you when they have set their vacation for, and I have also seen it on the game board notes (under the board).

Come and add your birthday to the Birthday Board!! I have just bought a birthday diary that needs filling up with BK birthdays so I will remember to wish you a great birthday/nameday/anniversary etc each year :oD But please write the month in full since a birthday on January 2nd could be wrote 2-1-03 or 1-2-03, depending which country you are in!

Also, please send in questions for BUMBLES interview! I'll be giving you a bit longer to get questions in because its Xmas, but be thinking of what you would like to know about this fine man!

And lastly, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

I'm having a lot of trouble too with server not found pages, and pages not loading in properly.

22. desember 2003, 11:06:36
harley
100degF, I found a great way of finding paying members is through the 'most active player' list on your main page. Where it says who the most active player is, next to their name will say (more). Click on that and you get a list of every member who made a move yesterday! :oD

16. desember 2003, 21:17:12
harley
From the FAQ page...

"Each player has a BKR although it is not displayed. Players start with BKR = 1300 and the BKR is not shown until he/she finishes at least 4 rated games"

So if your rating was a lot higher than that, Steve, a draw would make your rating drop quite a lot.

16. desember 2003, 20:54:07
harley
If the BKR's are significantly different, a draw will affect both ratings. If the ratings are similar anyway, it will hardly touch them (if at all), which is probably why they appear to change with some draws, and not others.

15. desember 2003, 19:52:01
harley
Ummm, thanks, Linda & noholdsbarred! You have the job, noholds, IF I ever become interviewee!! LOL! But theres a whole load of interesting people I'd like to see interviewed before me!

15. desember 2003, 18:31:28
harley
No, I think it would be fairer to remove the questions. That way there won't be any chance of people getting on their backs about why they didn't answer 'such a question'.... Does that sound OK?
