Thanks to all at this site who are being so diligent in their work on making this a great site. I am new and very well pleased. The Gothic Chess players are accommodating; the play is strong; the features are helpful; the programmers are doing a solid job. I am happy to come and play these wonderful chess variations--it is the only place online I have yet found that allows for this. Naysayers often get their airtime. This is a "Yeasayer" who is pleased with what I have seen here. Prosperity to you.

It would be nice to get 1 more player to join these games(all 3 remember) to make a round 10 players and we will have 2 equal numbered sections :o)
Stevies Checkered reversed Line of 5 Join in and enjoy the games :o)

In honor of the KM fellowship's "adopt a pawn" program, the winner recieves a 1 year rook membership to BrainKing.com.If the winner is already a paid member, they may sponser a pawn,to become a member.Have fun,and pawns please remember to leave enough openings for the tournament. :)
20 players have joined and we have four groups now.All have a rating above 2000 BKR and 16 of them above 2100.If all agree I will start this tournement now ealier,on Monday,22.12.2003.If everybody disagrees please send me a private message.
As stated in my post and on the tourny, if you have signed for any of the tourny games, you need to sign for all 3 games, not just 1 or 2. When it comes to starting the tourny, anyone who is not in all 3, will be removed from what they have signed up for :o(
Have fun, Steve
When I set up single game tournies, I tried to get it as 5 players per section, this means 4 games, so you get 2 in each colour, making it more fair :o)
Well in that case it's either 2 white and 1 black, or 1 white and 2 black (and some people will get each). I'm not sure exactly how it works, but i read somewhere it's done using "Shurig tables". Not sure what those are though! :-)
In a tournament where there is only one game played for each 2 players, how is it decided who is which colour ? for example, in BBW's 5 in line tourny, I am playing white in 2 out of 3 games.. surely that's an unfair advantage ? (not that I'm complaining ! LOL!)
NoMeansNo: What is suppose to happen is the tournament creator is suppose to start the next round. (And a tournament creator is just another user on this site). So because this ONE other user who did not start the next round of the tournament after 2 weeks, instead of just asking for it to start you start to blame the whole site!
At time like this, I guess I would have to agree with what rod said.
you do not need to beg, just a polite ask helps.. and also fencer does not get paid! otherwise he wouldn't have a job as well... this is a relatively new site, so all the membership money goes into running the site!
Obviously with it being a new site, there will be glitches, but there again, what site DOES NOT HAVE ITS FAULTS!!!!???
instead of putting fencer down, you should be thanking him! he and liquid run and maintain this site by themselves, inbetween working! and what other sites give non members so much!!! NONE!!!

I guess I'm too spoiled and am used to the numerous other, professionally managed sites, where all these things happen automatically (or are done by people who care even if they are not paid), so I did not imagine I was supposed to beg for the new round to be started. My mistake.
I've just started the second round.
However, I don't understand why do you complain? You pay nothing, you can use a free service on this site as you can. If you don't like it and want to take advantage of more features, upgrade your membership. That's what everybody does.
1st - In THIS TOURNAMENT, before all the games were finished, you asked in here about the next round - where you were told that all the games had to be finished in each section before the round 2 starts.
2nd) Looks like the last game in round 1 was complete at the end of November (couple of weeks) - and since you mentioned it on this board before this, you expected Fencer or whoever to be watching VERY closly for the last game to finish so the 2nd round can start?
3rd) The second round is ready to start - This has to be done by either the tournament creator or Fencer (Fencer does it when the tournament creator does not). Hopefully when Fencer signs on, he will see the messages on here and start the 2nd round (Since now the games ARE finished and the 2nd round CAN start)
4th) Your friendly game had nothing to do with the tournament games.
5th) There will be 3 players in round 2 of the tournament which I'm sure will start tomorrow since you have now brought it to the attention of the site owners (A nice message asking is prefered, but whatever)
NOTE: All games in round 1 NEEDS to be finished before the round 2 starts. Fencer does not have time to keep an eye out on all tournaments that round 2 does not start - it is usually something for the tournament creator to do, the down side is sometimes the creator forgets to start round 2, or leaves the site. In that case, Fencer is always happy to start the 2nd round for people AS LONG as he is told about it AND AS LONG as all the games are complete in the first section.
I hope this helps - but if you are leaving anyway, good luck and have fun!
I resigned my one friendly game to get over it, I even got the "You resigned your game against..." message, yet it still shows up as a live game with my opponent's turn to move. Is that normal?
I'm sure all you had to do was ask Fencer to start the next round, which no doubt he now will. Obviously it was an oversight by the creator of the tournament.
It's a known fact non-paying members are only allowed to play in one tournament. I was unfortunate enough (several months ago) to join the one that will obviously never end (round 2 was completed several weeks ago), it will just hang there forever between round 2 and 3, so I am leaving this sucky site. Congrats Tragedy on your win!
Cheers,

P.s. The tourney in question: "Join mine I joined yours" or something like that, abandoned for good,
