actually, it is almost pointless now to set vacation days as you may waste them by playing on those days anyway but because they were set, they are gone when the date is reached.
Under the new systems, may as well never setvacation days and just have the auto thing working for you all the time, in which case it would be handy to see a little number showing how many vacation days someone has left.
I, like Steve, would be a little disappointed thinking I was about to win and then bam, another 24 hours.

Emne: Hide sidebar menu option
There is a lot of options on the left sidebar that many people simply do not use. It would be nice if we had the option to hide any menu bars that we dont use.
"Polls" spring to mind as the first one I would hide, but others such as "winners" "brains" etc are rarely used and we dont really need them taking up space all the time.

Is this possible Fencer?

actually I kinda think it is cute and if left, it can sorta be classified a "feature"
I like it anyways, just thought I would let others know :)

Emne: Great Feature
dont you just love it how when someone is writing a message it says "browsing waiting games"
LOL
I think it is a bug Fencer

I think even better would be to allow the user an option of sorting any way they wish.
The current way is quite handy also at times depending on preference so if the user has a sorting option, this would be preferable

unfortunately the removal was requested by another member.

30. juli 2004, 03:10:38

that is what I currently do
unfortunately, it has to be when the person removed is not online
not a very good solution. Both people can fight the luck of the clock

Emne: remove players from tournaments
Fencer
is it possible to set up a ban feature when you remove players from tournaments so that when you remove them, they cannot rejoin?
Thanks

how about a list of "average moves per day"
This would give new members as much chance as old members.

harls, I think you know what a joke the music board has become without trying to defend it.

Fencer, seems a little unanimous.
We are just asking for a change in moderator to stop this idiocy at the moment.
Thanks Filip

Emne: Feature Request
Remove Kam/Bill from moderating the Music Board.
This is absolutely ridiculous having to wait for your post to be approved on a PUBLIC board such as that.
There was never any problems on that board until Bill started with his drivel.

Fencer, please return normality and pick a decent moderator for that board.
Thanks

Emne: Last 10 Games
It would be nice to see who the winner was on the "Last 10 Games Finished" list.
Is that possible Fencer?

can it be sorted by date signed up for the tournament instead?

10. juli 2004, 20:32:31
LongJohn
Fencer
just out of curiosity, what order is the list that shows people who have joined a tournament?
I caanot work out the order as it doesnt seem to be alphabetical or by order joined.
If it was sorted by date/time joined, that would be best as it would make it easier to check who are the new joiners.

also, is there any way to stop certain people from constantly joining a tourney after they have been removed. For example, in my tourney, I will remove all pawns who have created their accoutn after june 28th. What is to stop them from joining up again minutes before the cuttoff and then they are in?

Fencer
I was only joking as I posted only moments after you suggested it was a good idea :)
But I tend to disagree somewhat, I thinnk some of the features can be considered somewhat miraculous. I notice the bug extermination is coming along well so keep up the good work

is it implemented yet fencer?
all the pawns/rooks etc still look the same colour to me?

another site, although rather pathetic at most things, makes all your online opponents appear BOLD.
This might be an option Fencer

sounds like a good alternate plan
otherwise, maybe as a screen background instead of the brain ?
LOL

I would have thought the profile would be most logical though

Can some select people, lets say 10, have bigger pics, lets say 250 x 200
We could all vote on the ones we would like to see bigger.

I would like to vote for ScarletRose Please. She is worthy of a bigger pic :)

seems to be a good idea having last 10 games on a persons profile
however
seems a little silly if it doesnt show who won?

Emne: accepted
my bkr is 1983
I will send a number of invites and lets see how many you win.
10 games enough? Or do you want an odd number so that there is a definate winner?

exactly my point, it shows the rating system does not work well IF somone is allowed to play higher rated players all the time.
If this ability is changed it would make the rating system for BG more reliable

13. juni 2004, 16:24:38
LongJohn
That wasnt the point steve.
I am referring to if I DID match the criteria.
for example,
If I had a backgammon rating of 2700 and I was ranked #1 and the #2 had a rating of 2400. If someone then put a game in the waiting roon and was sneaky and set if for +2600 rating for example, then it would be only me that would see the game waiting. However, I wouldn't know that it is only me that could see the game, and would not know that it was set up to only be available to anyone over 2600. If I knew this, and also if it had an extra stat there saying for example
*played 100
*against lower rank 1
*against higher rank 99
this would then allow me to judge whether or not it is fair to give this person a chance at extra bkr.

12. juni 2004, 21:21:41
LongJohn
lly missed the point.
It doesnt matter if you lose to higher players, your rating doesnt drop much because they are higher.
Re read my message and you will understand the meaning

Emne: Criteria for waiting games
I think it would be fair if we could see what criteria the game creator has set for waiting games.
A good example would be currectly IMupChucKing and zockerdotcom have got heaps of backgammon games visible in the waiting room to those who are a higher rank than them (ie if they lose, their rating goes down very little but if they win their rating goes UP a lot more. RISK LITTLE GAIN MUCH)
I remember a time on yahoo where we only used to play those who had a greater than 40% down games for instance. That is, they play at least 40% of their games against lower ratings.
Currently on this site there is no way to tell that and hence players such as those mentioned above can simply play as many UP games as they want and of course their BKR will skyrocket.

Lets get it fair and show the up-down stats.

I am in no way at all suggesting IMupChucKing and zockerdotcom are doing anything wrong. ON the contrary, they are being very smart in the way they are trying to achieve a higher rating.
