bwildman: um....er....refer to my earlier post (way back) about being a little foggy on the 70s....
and in case you missed the "draught relief" ask Tuesday...we got it raining for her..
I recommended playing "Riders On the Storm", followed by "Riding the Storm Out"...I've since decided "texas Flood" is a good follow-up....you must play then repeatedly and if you need further assistance, refer to the list of rain songs we posted a page or so back
nobleheart: nice memories, huh?
what do you mean wasn't that ccr?
Tuesday: yepper, I think you're right- I think he was based in Wisconsin, but I could be wrong about that- Chicago is about an hour south of the Wisconsin border...
Tuesday: On Grand Funk's album 'Closer to Home'- the last song is I'm Your Captain
On my Grand Funk Railroad 'Collector's Series' CD, the song is combined, listed as Closer To Home/I'm Your Captain so now I get the pleasure of listening to them both again and seeing if there's a difference
My brother-in-law sings the song to me every Sunday night- especially the part "I'm your captain- listen to me.."
He's the captain of our bowling league...I'm not very good at listening to him
red dragon: Yes, we know the Hollies- loved them- they gave us Graham Nash, who left them to join David Crosby and Steven Stills to create one of my favorite group. Crosby, Still and Nash...and later CSNY, with Neil Young...Deju Vu is aa classic!!!!
Andre Faria: thanks- I know I've found some of the things you've posted in the past- I'd have to go back pages to find out who they were....thanks for the link : )
Wasn't it you that posted a link to a live radio over there? I listened to that one for quite a while - I've got it saved somewhere
Andre Faria: you've opened up a whole new world in music for me..many of these I didn't know of- you've got me looking them up and giving them a listen : )
nobleheart: I retract my earlier statement about letting you all have that fun..I tried it and it IS fun!!!LOL
How about "Summer" songs...
or at least till Tuesday gets back and gives us a better idea?
Tuesday: there was a song on the late 70's called "Shannon" that's about a dog..and I dare bwild to show me otherwise...probably can't cause it's not a well known song, but I liked it 'Shannon is gone I hope she's drifted out to sea...she always liked to sail away..." LOL
The Rain Song-Led Zepplin
Rain On the Scarecrow-John Mellencamp
Chase the Rainbow-Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Rain King-Counting Crows
Rainmaker-Kansas
Cold Rain & Snow-Greatful Dead
Let it Rain-Eric Clapton (don't know if
it was his solo, or with Cream, or Derek & the Dominoes)
A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall-Bob Dylan
Rainy Day Women Nos 12 & 35-Bob Dylan
Rainy Day People- Gordon Lightfoot
Rainy Days & Monday-The Carpenters
nobleheart: great list, and good addition, lucky cat...
how about:
She's a Rainbow...Rolling Stones
Over the Rainbow...Judy Garland
The Rainbow Connection..Kermit the Frog
I also thought of "Who'll Stop The Rain" by CCR, but I didn't think Tuesday wanted to hear that
forgot about November Rain..one of my favorite Gun N Roses, but I think my all time fave of theirs will always be "Patience".....love those Monster Ballads ; )
Tuesday: and I take credit for breaking the draught here by repeatedly playing "Riders on the Storm" followed by "Riding the Storm Out" ...may be just a coincidence, but I don't think so
ok, a few more legitimate ones:
"Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" Willie Nelson, "Another Rainy Night" Queensyrche
"Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"...not sure the artist...but it's from Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid...for some reason all I can think of is who wrote it, Burt Bacharach (sp?)
