As long as the chowder is New England style. :)
The bet is on.
Pittsbugh, well, lots of ethnic foods here, But you just listed one of my favorite menues. We'll go for the same thing. :)
Well, here in Pa. they are in to Halupkis, Halushki. I like it but it just doesn't rank with your menu. But, being a native German, I could make you a real good German dinner.
Wine
Rolladen
Real Mash Potatos, homemade gravy.
Desert...Home Made Cheese Cake
Then a good movie or Football game with some
good German Beer.
BTW Hen....
When I am not dining gourmet, I am a meat and potatoes kinda guy anyway, so that meal sounds great!
Plus I got it mixed up girls.... you can continue to Henelores house as the LOSER of the game has to host the party, so we will only be in Maine if the Patriots lose ;)~

Ingredients (serves two):
2 chicken legs
1 tbs corn starch
2 tbs sherry
1 cup chicken stock
2 tbs soy sauce
2 gloves of garlic
2 slices of ginger
0.5 tbs of chili paste
1.5 tbs of curry powder
1.5 cups of vegetable oil
Divide the chicken legs in small pieces - avoid splintering the bones. Mix the corn starch and the sherry, and marinate the chicken in it for 15 to 20 minutes.
Heat the oil in a wok, and fry the chicken till golden. Don't fry it all at once, but in three to four batches. Remove oil from wok (if cooled and sieved, this can be storen in an airtight container - I use glass jars - and reused).
Chop the garlic and ginger very fine. Heat 1 tbs of oil in the wok, and fry the ginger, garlic, chili paste and curry powder for about a minute. Add the stock and the soy sauce, and bring to a boil. Add the chicken and simmer for 8 minutes. Thicken the sauce with a bit of corn starch.
I didn't think we would win, but I had to stand by my Steelers. Many here feel it was the coaches that lost the game for us.
Let me know when you are coming thru and I'll start cooking. I love to cook.
Make sure you have 4x4 or snow chains. I am on a very high point and it always snows here on SuperBowl.
Hannelore: I have a 4x4 with chains and a plow, so I should be all set! I am getting hungry too. Maybe I will be nice and drop you off a couple of fat lobsters anyway :)
Steelers are a great team, but I agree you were out coached, we have been doing that to other teams for a few years now!
ScarletRose: Sorry! I dont think Wyoming is on the way from Maine to Florida ;)
When I get back from the Super Bowl, you are more than welcome to drop by for dinner though..... I can ghet them for $2.99 per pound, prolly a lot more out there, I bet! I will even throw in some filets and asparagus, with corn on the cob and roasted potatos, maybe a few steamers and a couple of nice bottles of wine?
I made the German dinner and ate it. It was in your honor. Boy was it good. Hadn't made that in years. Forgot how good it was. Yumm.
I love to cook German meals. Oma taught me well and Mom sure helped. Anyone need a recipe, just ask.
