Hrqls: I found it!
In the settings - general there is a little thing under the style setter which says sort game by and I had it set at time left descending. I changed it to ascending and now it works how I want it to! I kept looking further down near the "Submit move actions" LOL
I am referring to the move buttons in the game. I have 2 buttons in my game after I have moved on the board.
One is Move with a drop box next to it and I have a few options selected like go to msg box etc but if I tell it to "move and go to next game" or "next game of this type" it always goes to the game with the longest time left.
And the second button has Move and go to with a drop box which always displays the game with the longest time and I have to drop the menu and scroll right to the bottom to get to my shortest time game.

Can anyone tell me how to make the game list in the "move and go to" box appear in the order of game time ascending instead of descending? I constantly have to pop up the complete list and scroll to the bottom to get to my shortest game because the one that comes up in the box is automatically the longest time.
And when you click move and go to next game it automatically goes to the longest game as well. I always play my games in time order when I first come in. It would be good if I knew how to switch that around too so that it goes to shortest game time left instead of longest.
am trying to end this game as a draw because neither of us can move anymore, but my opponent keeps sending it back to me. I have asked my opponent to accept the draw but they wont. Please can somebody advise me. Or Fencer please can u draw the game for us. Many Thanks
When I accept an invitation to a new game and the opponent has the first move, I am taken to a screen that shows the game board and a moves list showing "pass" for me -- but no button to click to submit a move or go to another game, except for a link to go to the next game of the same type. This seems to be new so I assume it was introduced accidentally in the new screens.
Me again lol: in this Minishogi game of mine against jerom (black) has just played, and put me (white) in check, yet on the screen its saying black is in check.......some a miss there i reckon
Fencer: I do not know if this is something missing off the new style or not. If you play a move and 'Stay here' there is normally a link near the top of that page where you can just click and goto the next game. I have just played a couple of last moves in games and used that option to check it was the game end, but that link is not there in a finished game. As i say i ca not think if it used to be there on the old screen, if not could we have one please, it very useful
I like the new screens, Simple(like me lol) seems the nicest to me Thats until i can get my head round these .css things i downloaded
Radiant2007 :-): Look at the top right corner of any message on this board and you will see the date and under that "show this user post|show thread|link" click link and you will see what alanback did.
He posted that question a couple of days ago on this board so all your replies appear on this board because the message is part of this board
Radiant2007 :-): the board where his old message is on .. is this very same board (you can see 'bc=1' in the link)
its an old post buried a few pages in the past .. but on this board when you reply to an old post on this board .. it will appear as a new post on this board
if you want to take it to another board you can start a new post there (and add the link to his post in the message to make people understand where the post is a reply to)
Hrqls: When i reply on that board it brings me back here automatically. Strange! I don't want this conversation to be private. I like it that Alanback took it off this board; now I only need to find the code to respond to him there. All my messages that I tried to respond to him there are ONLY on this board readible, like you can see. It seems i am not allowed to write there?
Alan, how can i respond to you here? When i replied to you i was redirected back to the main brainking.com board.. This subject is worth the discussion, but NOT on the main board, i agree. So, where i can find that board you put up the link for a couple of messages back?
alanback: WOW! You have seen that page too? (btw... how do i to respond to you on that board you sent me.. it seems that i am responding on the main brainking.com board?) In find your question VERY VALUABLE and THANK YOU! I would say: Ban banner ads!
Assunto: Re: Commercials on this site makes me decide to leave from here!
KotDB: Unless you want to make this a public debate, please message Fencer directly about your complaints because I don't want to hear about it.
If you do want to make it a public debate, then you've actually talked yourself into a hole. The fact is, the site is free - yes there are ads unless you want to pay. That makes sense to everyone here. If you want to be cheap, live with ads. You get what you pay for.
Assunto: Re: Commercials on this site makes me decide to leave from here!
Fencer: Your response to my post is troubling. Rather than address the substance of my remarks, you've resorted to an unprovoked ad hominem argument. Nevertheless, I will reply, at least this once. I will try to keep the discussion civil, and I hope you will do the same in the future.
You made four statements about me:
"never spent a cent to support the site" This is true. But it does not negate the legitimacy of my opinions, nor is it cause for you to complain. You have offered a product for sale, but that does not obligate anyone to purchase it. Individuals will purchase it or not, as they see fit. Just as BrainKing is yours to develop as you will, my money is mine to spend as I will. (If I remember correctly, you yourself have stated more than once, although not recently, that you don't expect every user to buy a membership.) At present, I do not consider BrainKing membership to be worth the price. I have fairly concrete thoughts about what changes might make me reconsider; if you're interested, I can share them with you at another time.
"uses its services for free" This also is true, and this also does not give you cause to complain. You have chosen to make BrainKing available, with some limitations, at no charge. If you don't want anyone to use BK for free, all you have to do is disallow it by discontinuing the Pawn membership level. It is your site, and you can grant or deny access as you please. As long as you permit Pawns to use the site without paying, it is inappropriate to criticize them for doing so.
"has no idea about the work behind it" This is false. Of course I am not privy to every detail, but I certainly recognize that creating BrainKing from scratch and developing it into its current form has required a monumental amount of labor -- from designing the initial concept and structure, to painstakingly writing and debugging many thousands of lines of code, to dealing with endless demands from very opinionated users. Perhaps I don't agree with every decision you've made along the way, but that does not mean I think your role is easy.
"has absolutely no idea about the real purpose of all this" Well, if you're not making money from the ads, then what is their purpose? Please enlighten us.
BrainKing has a lot of potential. I would very much like to see it become the kind of gaming site that I could pay for. When I first joined in 2005, that seemed like a possibility. Now it seems unlikely. But you may yet surprise me. You've done so before.
I really miss the pink shading behind the games in which it is my turn.on the main page. I used to be able to walk past and with a quick glance get a good idea of how many games are waiting for me to move in by the size of the pink box. Now I have to stop and have a proper look. Not cool when you are trying to vacuum the house. LOL
I've noticed that on various chess games (at least corner chess, fortress chess, dice chess and maharadjah chess) the border is white, while the game is played on a white background. Other chess variants do have the boundary in a non-white colour.
Now you cannot see you're playing a different game than normal chess by just glancing at the border.
I also note that he colour of the border isn't controlled by a style sheet.
nabla: I already started doing that. Not because I liked the old style better, but mainly because I want to read other statements than "I want the old style back" again There has to be made a small change to the site, which I already told to Fencer, and a little more work has to be done by me, but nothing impossible. The state of what has been done so far can be viewed here. Some font sizes aren't correct, and the list-of-games-where-it-is-not-your-turn is in the wrong color and without border. But that will be done in a few days I hope, and then we can get back to business
