O2i: I don't know what you mean by multiple windows being open (ie. for what and how?), but I made a mistake about the accounts. I've just reread the rules page and seen that you can get referrals for new guest accounts, in which case, yes, someone could register 100 a day... My bad.

02i: Guest accounts are not memberships. You don't get anything for referring a new guest account. That would make no sense.

Looks like I underestimated the usage of discussion board points. 6 is too much, 1 would be better.

Is there going to be a chart on the people with the most points as it gets higher every month?

02i: Then I'm not sure I understand what the problem is with someone creating 100 accounts and referring to themself - 100 subscriptions is a lot of money to pay for some points in a competition! Or are you talking about something else?

Assunto: Re:
pawnme: well , there can be provisions for that too. people who share the computer can say that they do and then they can have their accounts separate but registered as a family or friends or group or whatever and not be allowed to refer one another or play against each other to prevent giving more than normal points or wins to someone. and playbunny i am talking about new registered accounts not guest visits.

02i: but.... (to play Devil's advocate) what if there were 2 or more people playing from the same computer, let's say at a college dorm or even from a family computer. Should a family only be limitted to one account?

Assunto: Re:
Vikings: as far as your explanation goes , maybe thats it but that matter can only be resolved if the site is modigfied in a way that only one page of brainking can be opened at a time from 1 computer and if that can be done , it would also solve the problem of people having multiple accounts thats is if the coputer id is stored for each new account registered , that sort of thing is present on other sites like iyt.com where you can only create 1 new account from a computer. uptil now we are talking about illegal points from discussion boards but whats to stop someone from reistering 100 new accounts everyday from his computer and referring him/herself for all of them and right now there is no way of checking in as to who is legit and who is not.

... not that I think I deserve it, as I've only earned 7 points from moves, but I opened every available message I could and I have 823 points... most messages I couldn't even read as my language skills are limited to english and broken spanish :o)
... just to show there is a slight flaw with this theory of "board points"

02i: If you set your page to only display a certain amount of messages (I can't remember how low you can go) then you can review each page separatly, rather then having all your messages on one page. You may have 100 pages to review (equaling 600 points), and that is just for one board. You may even have more then 100 pages to review! I guess you would have to view them from oldest message to newest message and set the display to a minimum. As for me, mines set for the max and I only view the newest messages because I can't be bothered to go back 3 years in time to review old messages (or at least bring the page up).

whopper:ok, so I read it, play a few game moves, see more "new" messages, read them and get 6 every time I view a "new" message? seems fishy to me if someone hovers the discussion boards waiting for new messages... as many do waiting for an opponent to move...

1. Julho 2006, 06:21:03
02i
...as long as there is atleast 1 new message ... not if i visit every time a new message appears , i get 6 points for every one but if i visit after 12 hours with 10 new messages , i still only get 6 points for all 10 instead of 60 points.

LionsLair: You get 6 new points for reading this, since it's new. If someone else has replied as well since you last visited this board, you still get only 6 points.

..ok, so that threw that theory out the window, but I just got 6 points for reading vikings message, then went to main page, checked online opponents, saw a new message in my fav boards area(this one I am replying to, and got another 6 points... so as well as making available moves it looks like it pays to read every "new" message that hits the discussion boards... correct me if I'm wrong...

ive had many unread messages as i dont regularly read messages but when i open page with 2000 new messages , i still only get 6 points for all on the page or next so i dont think that this flaw is present or if it is theres another trick to it and not just having lots of unead messages.

Assunto: Re: scam or flaw?
LionsLair: it's only a flaw if people set it up to be. otherwise they would only get 6 points no matter how many messages there are on the board.
by the way, I'm setting the over-under at 200,000

1. Julho 2006, 05:57:28
LionsLair
Assunto: scam or flaw?
...nothing scientific here, but it seems all top action points winners at this point have gotten the bulk of their points from board points...
... the flaw with this is that someone that reads boards regularly is at a disadvantage, as they may only have say 10 "new" messages to read on the "brainking.com" board, and a user that never has read the board has 18,000+ "new" messages to read... thus creating a very large margin of points for such...
...is this a scam or cheating?... no, just a minor flaw in the tallying system for said "action Points"...
...I'm sure Fencer will fix this problem...
...just my two cents worth... as always, "happy Gaming!" >^.^<

it's simple, set messages per page to minimum and set it to read oldest messages first, I had over 4,000 messages alone in flame pit, that would have added up to quite a lot
