I have two female dogs and they are as different as night and day. My ShihTzu is a very laid back gentle little lady but has a temper when she doesn't get what she wants as fast as she thinks she should. Then I have a MinPin that is hyper and very possessive. As for getting along with cats, they are not good examples because they have never been around them. They like to chase them and play but would hurt a kitten because they play too rough. Guess they think they are like those squeaky toys I buy them. If I had gotten them and a kitten all as babies, they would have learned to get along together. I think they are like people and get a bit grumpy and hard to get along with as they get older.

Papa: I agree that Ellen carried the whole situation too far. Granted she is a very popular celeb but that doesn't give anyone the right to break rules. When I adopted my little MinPin, I signed an agreement that said she goes back to the shelter if things didn't work out. Am quiet sure that Ellen signed the same type agreement.

Nightline tonight is going to be about pets and treating them!!

My little dog got stones in her bladder and had to have surgery from drinking tap water. There are so many minerals etc. in tap water so mine get that Brita filtered water too!

srnity: I Googled Natural Balance and it appears that is the brand name, The technical name is Dick VanPatten's Natural Balance Pet Foods.

Rose: Yes, I do put the calcium in their food. They get 1/2 a pill a day.

Rose:True, it can get expensive feeding them people food. I couldn't do it if I don't hit a good sale.
I bought a big bottle of calcium at the vet's and I think WalMart also has some supplements.

Rose: Thanks for the heads up Rose. I don't think feeding that food once would hurt your kitties. It is so sad that they keep adding more foods to that recall list. I don't buy much dog food anymore. Have been cooking ground turkey or hamburger mixed with rice for my dogs. Also got chicken quarters on sale so I boil that for them. The only thing is they don't get all the vitamins and calcium that way so I have to give supplements. I will be glad when the recall is over with..

Rose: Thanks for that info Rose! I will certainly be more careful when purchasing any chew treats for my babies!!

Tuesday:I didn't know that, have given them to my little dogs before! I won't do it again if there is a danger to them.

ScarletRose:She is ok now but was a sick widdle girl all that night. Know those frogs eat bugs and are good for a garden but I wish they would stay out of my back yard!!

I discovered recently that the common garden toad is also poison to pets. My little Shih Tzu bit one and she was frothing at the mouth also. Was sick and throwing up all night!

anastasia:Thanks for that info, I have been checking online and could only find that the tree frogs are poisonous. Those we don't have but do get lots of toads. We have been watching the dogs closely when they are outside. Hope they don't get hold of another one!

Lamby: Thanks, she seems ok now but they found another big frog in the yard today. I had to go out and get it out of the yard..don't want to kill them. There is no way to keep them out!

anastasia: it was a toad..we get them in our yard a lot, especially after a rain. my ShihTzu bit into it but didn't eat it..within just a few minutes she was gagging and had froth on her mouth. she vomited several times during the night but seems ok now..I am in Oklahoma!!

Had a storm last night and when my dogs went out after rain stopped, they got hold of a frog and wound up very sick. Does anyone know if those toad frogs are poison or what?

Thanks everyone..she ate some today and even wagged her tail..that's an improvement!!

Just called to check on her and they told me she is fine and was sitting up in her kennel. We can pick her up after 4 this afternoon.
I cried when I left her this morning and they assured me she would be ok but I asked if they had a waiting room. Would you believe they told me no...I just can't imagine such a thing!!

Thanks girls, I will post here tomorrow as soon as I know how it went. I do appreciate your concerns!

Took my little Punkin (a Shih Tzu) in to be groomed this morning. Also ask them to check her because I have been finding some stange little rock looking things on the floor. She has kidney stones real bad and will have surgery in the morning..the vet says that is the only way to get rid of them since she has so many..he showed me the x-ray. I am very worried about her but am praying she will be ok!
