Ok... So, I guess what stops alot from being is created is that there aren't alot of brains out there yet, which means not many will even sign up for it.. I bet somewhere down the line there will be alot more brains and most tournaments will involve brains.. not that that is a bad thing.. I was just thinking "out loud". :-)

What is the "cost" of setting up a brain prize tournament??? The link on the server news doesn't mention this (unless I missed it!) I'm sure it must cost something, otherwise everyone would probably make all tournaments this type? no?

And they go beyond when that person's current membership ends, which should not be allowed, in my opinion..

Assunto: Weekend "Live" Tournaments!
I have created this weekend's "live" tournaments. These tournaments will start every 4 hours, so that there should be a convenient one for any time zone or lifestyle. Each player will have 1 hour total, for moves. So this tournament will be over within 2 hours. (A bit longer possibly, as the system doesn't check constantly for time outs)

Obviously, all games may not be playable within these time constraints (Anti backgammon, for example), so choose carefully. If there ends up being interest in 2 hour per player alternate tournaments for these longer games, I will start those. Just PM me.

So, any weekend that you have a block of time available and feel like a quick tournament, check out the tournament list and maybe you will find one, convenient for you. Or go to this link to see all my "live" ones in one place:

http://brainking.com/en/Tournaments?trnst=0&u=3024

Any game with at least 4 people signed up (maximum 5), will be started at the listed time.

Have fun!

REMINDER!!!
The games will start up to an hour after the closing time!

It is important to remember, that after changing the start time on the tournament, there is still another hour before the games are actually started.

Assunto: Re:
BerniceC: Personally, I don't think it should be allowed. (It should AT LEAST be limited to when a person's paid membership ends). My theory is that they like seeing their tournaments always advertised in that green box at the top of the main page. I believe it randomly advertises tournaments on the list, and of course, the more tournaments you have in there, the odds of it being your tournament advertised, increase.
I don't understand the need to have the ability to set up such huge numbers of tournaments, so far ahead of time..

He didn't cheat. He was unrated right before getting that high rating. He most likely didn't even KNOW how high his rating would end up being when he got one. There is no cheating involved!

2nd in average BKR of the team, actually..

It is ordered just like regular tournaments, Clay.. and as myfawny says, the team with the most wins, wins..

How long has it been there? It may be in the set up process right now, and probably starting any minute...

15. Agosto 2005, 12:28:23
rod03801
Actually, the game would be over in 6 hours. (Each person has 3 hours for their moves) Though, it doesn't check for time outs constantly, so there are actually a few more minutes allowed at the end...

4. Agosto 2005, 02:42:32
rod03801
Thanks, Fencer! That's awesome...
But shouldn't someone only be able to create tournaments only as far ahead as their current membership?

Assunto: Question...
Why is it necessary to create tournaments not set to start until the end of 2006???? 557 tournaments??? The whole page won't even load for me. (And what does load takes quite a while to do so..) Thank goodness only a few people have done this, or we could have thousands of tournaments on that page.

Just curious what the answer is.. My first thought is they just like seeing their tournament featured in the little green box on the main page that advertises tournaments to sign up for.. The more you have, the higher the odds of it being yours listed there..

or is there an actual reasonable reason??

20. Julho 2005, 04:37:09

No, one day is NOT taken away for each game that would have timed out.

I'm not sure I have the best way to explain how it works though. (I understand, but not sure I would put it into the best words.) BBW is good at explaining this stuff..

Basically it saves any game from timing out, 24 hours from the time the first one would have... 24 hours from then, if you are still timing out, another day is taken to cover the next day.

So, if I have 100 games going.. and i have 10 of those games about to time out today, all 10 games will remain safe, and I will lose 1 vacation day.

As each one is finished, the winner is notified.

Yes, if the round is only 1 section, the tie is not broken. If an advanced round is created with just 2 people, it is a 3 win match. And if an advanced round is created with 3 or more people, it is a regular round.

Ok, I'll try one more time... What Major problems with BK are you experiencing?

LOL.. I'm not understanding your attitude, at all. I am a member of Brainking's customer service team. You mentioned "Major problems with BK", I asked what problem you have.
I'm not sure what you aren't understanding, and getting mad about.

Um, you posted on a public board. One where anyone can respond. I am not experiencing any "major problems with BK", I am also a member of customer service, so it certainly isn't out of line for me to ask what you are talking about.

23. Abril 2005, 18:32:07
rod03801
Yes, Thad has a good idea. Maybe limit the tournament to 1 or 2 tie breaking rounds? then if no winner is determined, it is a tie..

23. Abril 2005, 10:37:56
rod03801
True..

Doesn't seem like it would happen that often though..

I just hate ties! LOL...

I wasn't taking into consideration more than 2 people involved in the tie.. The 2 win match to break the tie, obviously wouldn't work in situations with 3 or more people..

23. Abril 2005, 10:25:52
rod03801
I agree. I hate tournaments ending in a tie..
Why would they be endless? Wouldn't it be possible to have those people remaining play a 2 win match to decide? (I think the 3 win matches when there are only 2 people, are too much)

Luke Skywlaker, it is because the tournament itself is still going on. Since there is no way that you will be moving on to the next round, you can PM Fencer, and he will make it so that you can enter a tournament..

13. Novembro 2004, 15:05:56

LOL...
Prizes just tend to make things more exciting.. I was thinking of when/if team tournaments are ever created by players.

13. Novembro 2004, 12:40:56
rod03801
That would be cool.. but pretty expensive (depending on the size of the teams) .. I was thinking of something not TOO costly..

13. Novembro 2004, 02:29:12
rod03801
I think a Prize Team Tournament would be cool.
6 month or 1 year rook prizes for each member of the team would be rather steep, I think. So maybe if the team size were 6 people, each member could get 2 months added to their rook membership...
Just a thought!

Just make shorter rook memberships for those who do not want to spend as much money..

I doubt "most" people are "tired of listening to steve whine"... You always do that. You feel a certain way, and try to make it sound like a majority feels the same, even though you have no idea, LJ... There is NO reason for Stevie to be banned! (not this time anyways.. LOL!) :-P
