Sir! Please Fencer Sir!

A player from A WHAM BAM has timed out in all his backgammon games in the first team tourney but they're not registering either in the grid table or in the total.

What is the record here for the longest overall time to play a game ?

22. Julho 2004, 13:14:05
Jason
ha, i tried that on one of longjohns 1 day ...oops change that to 30 days , tournament and lost loads of bkr ,only works for normal games .

You cannot cancel a tournament game.

Under two moves total or two moves each?
Didnt there used to be a cancel link too, for games under so many moves?

Fencer.... how about Spider Line 4 1st team tournament? :)

22. Julho 2004, 12:55:52
Stevie
Assunto: upchuck
just resign them.
If they are under 2 moves the bkr is unaffected I think.
You are now a rook, so once your games are ended, you dont necesarily need to be removed because you are not restricted by knight type restrictions

Ha! That's a nice one :-) Thanks bumble.

Spider Line 4.

How about Arachnophobia? The quality of some of the players here have made me scared to play it. :o)

Fencer
Yes, if you resign all games or if it's obvious you cannot continue to the next round, I can release you.

Thanks Red Dragon....
I just found another person in my draw, Cardinal, who has played one move, and he is on vacation, and is due to time out on September 2nd!!!! Thats 2 months from the start date of the tournament.

What are the consequences for resigning these games? Do I lose BKR? Since so moves made already?

If I resign them can I be removed Fencer?

Also please hurry up and impliment the no vacation rule for tournaments, thanks :)

IMupChucKing, Stinger has just returned from a vacation.
He is probably catching up with his games now and I presume your game with him is way down on his game sheet due to the length of time per move.
I have played him many times and he is a fast player.

Does anybody have a good name for Spider Line4 team tournament? :-D

22. Julho 2004, 08:28:58

IMupChucKing: You cannot be removed from a running tournament.

Thanks for the help Kevin...
But the last move was already 20 days ago, and now is at 36 left, thats 56 days, and I looked at his profile and he is not on vacation either!!

22. Julho 2004, 05:08:28
Kevin
21 days = 3 weeks. Each week has 2 days off, which really makes it 27 days. It is possible to have 10 days off (5 weeks of days off) during that 21 days, which will take it to 31. The only way it should be at 36 should be either site holidays or vacation days.

But I dont even see any vacation days... I dont know why or how there are so many days ...

First: 21 days is too long. What were you thinking joining the tournament? lol. Mind you I did once as well without thinking.

Second: I think we have too many 'vacation' days. Surely we don't need to take vacation from the site every time we want to take some time off work. In fact I would often play more during that time. I only use vacation days in extreme cases where I am going somewhere with no internet connection.

Now I am really confused.... LOL no comments BBW... :)

I just looked again, and of the two games with Stinger, the one with zero moves is at 26 plus days, and the other one, which has only had me make the initial pass of the dice, which i did on the first day, is at over 36 days left to move!!!!!

Why the differences? 56 days with only a pass of the dice as a move? How does it happen? I do not see any vacation days for Stinger either... What am I missing here?

Assunto: Can someone please get me outta this tournament!
It is a backgammon championship tournament with a 21 day limit.

It started in July 2nd. almost 20 days ago.

I have one game with Stinger who has not made one move yet, and still has 26 days 10 hours before a time out!

How does a 21 day tournament turn into a 48 day tournament?

At this pace it will take 8 years for a 30 move game!!!!!

How realistic is it to play a tournament where one game can last 8 years?

I guess if you are young, and you make it to the third round, you can count on your competition to die for your win. Plus look at the potential for Fencer to gaurantee no one ever leaves :)

I know it doesnt matter to many, the slow pace, and I should simply not worry about it, and play when my turn comes around.

But this is silly to the extreme... What would a 30 day tournament be like?

please fencer, for my sanity, remove me from this tournament. Thank you very much!

Assunto: Re:
I think it is going to be difficult to find 8 players for a team in 5 in line tournament, with so many already playing in the backgammon tournament, if knights cannot play in more than one tourney at a time.

Is there any limit planned for rooks too?

thanks ;)

You can change the date to a time that has already past, then wait an hour (or longer if server is busy) (no more then 2-3 hours I have every waited) - then the script will start it.

21. Julho 2004, 20:25:39

Manual starts used to cause many problems in BK 1.0 :-) Now is the emergency button available for me and Liquid only, in case of automatic start malfunction.

21. Julho 2004, 20:23:24
Artful Dodger
And is there no way to start it myself? (I'm guessing no) :)

thanks in advance

21. Julho 2004, 20:21:43
Fencer
All tournaments start automatically in all rounds.
The script is performed once an hour. However, due to overloaded servers, it refuses to run sometimes.

Artful Dodger
Assunto: It's probably been covered but there are so many helpful people here... ;)
Do tournaments now automatically start (in the first round) or does the creator of the tourney have to push the 'go' button??

;) Thanks

Tournament. Not team tournament. I will have to update that page.

As I said, it was only my interpretation.

21. Julho 2004, 17:49:08
grenv
The player is limited by max. 50 started games at once and 20 vacation days per year, can make unlimited number of moves per day, can join only one tournament of each kind of game, can become a member of BrainKing fellowships, can participate in Brain Knight referral program (see Brains page).

21. Julho 2004, 17:44:49
Fencer
Contrary to what rules? Team tournaments are new to this site, they have nothing to do with normal tournaments.

21. Julho 2004, 17:43:46
grenv
By the way is it true knights can only play one team tournament? This seems a little restrictive and contrary to the rules as stated.

I would interpret the rules to mean that knights can play in more than one team tournament if the game types are different.

Relaxing this constraint would get more teams into the tournaments I think.

21. Julho 2004, 17:39:07
grenv
Why not set up a bunch of them and see which ones get filled?

21. Julho 2004, 17:16:23

Sounds like a good Polls question - "What team tournament would you like to see next?"

21. Julho 2004, 17:14:18
Dolittle
That's a good one..maybe Dark Battleboats or Battleboats Plus could be next???

21. Julho 2004, 16:26:56
Fencer
Okay, let's try Spider Line4.

21. Julho 2004, 16:03:24
coan.net
Spider Line4 would be good. So would Battleboats Plus.

Amazons would be good (for me), but their are still many people trying to learn the game and turn out for that team tournament would probable be low (which I would wait awhile before having an Amazons team tournament) - But if you did make one, I would be sure to play! :-)

21. Julho 2004, 15:50:10

Thanks for the reply Fencer!

21. Julho 2004, 15:46:37

Yes if it's a Brain Rook or higher.

21. Julho 2004, 15:39:15

That one would be good!
Can a person join more than one team tourney as long as it isn't the same game?

21. Julho 2004, 13:23:57
Fencer
Spider Line4?

21. Julho 2004, 13:23:04

none of the ones we suggested then LOL

Next team tournament can be in Amazons.

21. Julho 2004, 12:11:51

Jason: If two teams end with the same points, the one with better score is the winner.

21. Julho 2004, 10:55:34
Jason
ty fencer ,so every body plays only one person from every team there . what happens when two teams score the same number of wins (how would a winner be determined) ?
sorry for the questions but team events are totally new to me .

21. Julho 2004, 10:51:48
Fencer
Jason: The number of games per one player is the same as for normal tournament. It means that with 4 teams and two games with switched colours, everybody will play 6 tournament games.

21. Julho 2004, 10:40:47
Jason
is there an explanation anywhere as to how the team tournaments work , if there was (use five in line as an example) 8 players and only 4 teams how many games would i play in total ?

21. Julho 2004, 09:51:29
Fencer
Four teams are signed up for five-in-line team tournament. Very good :-)
