Jim Dandy: Hmmmm maybe. One forgets it's a business and not all for creativity's sake. I guess I just hope some people won't sell out. You think they are?
TexasToest: My thoughts are that "The Chicks" are trying to broaden their audience for survival purposes. They have undergone quite the image change from the looks of it.I do think they might have pushed the "victim" envelope a tad far though.Sleep well

Jim Dandy: Yes, me too. But then, one might argue about whether that kind of analysis was . I think not, but I tend to be a little over-analytical when it comes to the human condition.
I've spent today listening to Dixie Chicks Long Way Around. It's echoing in my mind as I type. It surely sounds country to me. The rest of the world seem to think this album "lifted them up out of the realm of country music." Maybe the rest of the world, with this album, finally sees the depth and richness of country music as a part of the medium itself?
I promise I'll be alright in a few days. Right now, I'm rest-deprived. As soon as I hit California, and get settled into my hotel room, I'm going to take a monumental nap. Maybe when I get back to Texas, I will have stopped this arm-chair philosophizing.
TexasToest: Interesting points. The list is long of artists who's best work was done prior to cleaning up,no matter what they say.I could probably spend hours discussing this topic.
Good assessment, Jim Dandy. I believe one MUST be a tortured genius to create. There is a level of emotion one has to reach to take sustenance from his/her own performance. I think I've known this for a long time, but I also think I am just coming to understand it fully. Therefore, might we say one should be grateful for the abuses perpetrated upon them that shaped them into the tortured genius? For those abuses will only live on in the abused.
Assunto: Re: I've been off saving the world, how am I doin?
Jim Dandy: Boy! You're out there digging at the big boys, aren'tcha? But, I don't know that I've seen anyting about this Toby Beau. Any samples out there?
I caught Joe Kubek on Pandora today, and thought him really great, then I find he's another home boy. If you can fit yourself into any of these dates, you're in for a treat. You can hear samples on Amazon, but DO check it out. Anybody aware of Bugs Henderson?

TexasToest: Rob is a scoring player isn't he.I thought I had found a gem on utube of Stevie Ray and Jeff Healy dueling, but it has been removed and Roy Buchannon is nowhere to be found.I finally found a cd by a band I saw(and loved) open for Bob Seeger back in the 70's,anyone ever heard of Toby Beau? it took forever to replace that album
yep, it was one of the good pop 80's bands... They were very popular here, and we still hear their songs at some clubs... And I never forget them when I play as DJ at 80´s parties...

Oh yeah! Did you remember all the lyrics? Hmmmm? I DID! I had this sudden realization.....while he is always right on with the lyrics (no liberties), you never know what the tune will be. The band, waaaaaay more anal than the artist himself carries the tune, but the man takes all kinds of liberties. Can't sing? Sure he can! It's just a different tune every time. He IS consistant with the key, I suppose because he can't argue with the band - and his fingers go to the same strings with no thought from him.
What a nice visit. At one point, I invisioned sitting at a table with my friend the guitar player in LA, and holding up a sheet of paper to him with the name of THAT song on it, and saying, "Our play list." Hahahaha!
Thanks, Nirvana. It's always nice to be reminded who you are.
At first, when I saw the beginning of the article, I thought Take it off the music board. But, since there was music in the clip, I changed my mind. I couldn't see to click delete, and left it here for the rest of you to see. Mutual trust is a universal topic. Thank you, awesome.
The next one on the list was "Who Were You Thinking Of" with Freddy and none other than Flaco Jimenez, and the guy who brought it all together, Doug Sahm.
