Mine too, BBW. I got a writer for my home vids, so I could put them on DVD. All I knew was that they saved on the PC in AVI format. I looked at DVD players in the shop and the cheapest there (about £45 I think) had AVI on the box so I bought it, and it does loads more than I'd hoped!

BBW can you please edit my messages? And I apologise for the incovenience.

On that link site theres a huge list of a variety of DVD Players, and for each one it says what formats that can really play (not just what it says in the manual).

coan.net
Yea, it is most likely to do with what format the DVD player can read. My nicer 5-DVD changer will play some VCD's (SVCD I believe), but will not play others.

My very cheapy DVD player in the bedroom will actually play much more - all the VCD formats plus more.

Andersp, have you checked your DVD player will accept the format you're using?

RAHVIN666: My suggestion is that you go to the routers webpage (is it Linksys?) Im no expert tho. We have five computers here connected to router and a hub..(WITH wires) and it works fine, can be slow if 2 people are downloading music or videos at the same time tho :)

Can someone please give me a brief description or point me in the direction of a website that explains home networking. I recently bought a wireless G modem/router and i have managed to connect my 3 pc's to the net, two via Lan from router and one via wireless network card. the thing i don't know how to do is share files between the pc's. i don't know where abouts on Windows to look. I have named all my pc's and give them all the same workgroup name, but that's as far as i've got.

Any recording device should work? Get the recording software to record from the SoundCard and not Line-In, then play the radio on the sound card while recording!!

I have certainly used this method to record Internet Phone Calls and such, so dont see it being any different for radio? Although have never wanted to record that LOL

Firefox - The tabs are cool - multiply tabs instead of having multiply windows.

If you click on a link with the middle button (Mouse button), it will automaticly open in a new tab in Firefox (no need to right click and choose new tab)

I use IE.. and for the last week.. my pages to my game boards are sluggish.. they are having to download the game board itself..

BIG BAD WOLF: Thanks dude. I cant get a quicker net connection. I have the fastest high speed cable available in my province. My machine is super fast etc.. As Volant says it will go away so I will wait and see if it calms down. It is sooo annoying on some games! LOL

Assunto: Re: Firefox
Rose: That was my biggest complaint when i first started using firefox. Very quick on all other sites, but like your problem Rose - slowed me down here. So I used firefox almost everywhere else and IE here.

Now Firefox works great for me. The way I solved it was to move to a faster internet connection (but of course that is not a solution for everyone.)

The problem: Firefox websites quicker because they start to show you things right away. But for BrainKing, that backfires a little because first it shows you the left frame (main menu). It then moves that over to also show the middle fram (game board). It then moves that over to show you the right frame.

Thanks again!

Rose: I have been using the microsoft anti-spyware tool for about a month. It gives you more capabilites in fighting browser hijackers and plug-ins. I haven't had a problem removing spyware with it...yet. I was using the free version of ad-aware, but it couldn't remove some spyware. I actualy bought the upgraded version and it finally did remove some pesky spyware (not even spybot could remove them).

Using firefox for the first time playing here at BK. Any one else get this strange occurrance?
When you click your game move the page and board appear to the right(not far right just not centre) then quickly shift over to the left once the friends online list appears? Really annoying when playing dark boats and you try to fire in succession and the board's moving around.

does anyone else notice the same games again ... make a move you already made .. your opponent moves right away (although he isnt even online) .. and you can move again

you read some boards which shows new messages which were new some hours ago (while you see those you see a different number of waiting games in the title bar) .. when you refresh the page you suddenly see the correct of new posts and the correct number of waiting games in the title bar

i am on an old computer now .. my normal computer crashed badly yesterday .. reinstalling windows on it now .. so maybe its this old beast which is causing problems on me ;)

I would also suggest running a few utilities through the system to check it over. Start-up Cop will check anything that starts when you switch on, and give a hint as to what it does and if its needed.

Then find a good spy-bot, there are loads and everyone is different so search for a good one. I use SPYBOT Search and Destroy 1.3 again this will check for things that really shouldnt be there type of thing!!

But if i remember correctly it gives you a list of everything that is using power and won't necessarely indicate what the puter is up to. And i don't know enough to pick the righ one out of the list. I will try the other task manager you suggested it will probably give more information. Thank you

Well for starters get shot of ME LOL It was (IS) just about the worst OS ever, given the choice of that or windows 3.1 i would take the later :o)

TASKMANAGER should show you exactly what is running and what resource its sucking up while doing what ever its doing!!

Although using the TAsk Manager of ME is a real Pain, i suggest WinTasks from LIUtilities its easy to use and much better.

To access Task manager on ME, use the CTRL, ALT & DEL combination and selct Task manager, you can see them here but stopping them can take ages :(

Assunto: Is there a way to find out what your puter is doing?
My puter has started something new. When i'm just playing games the puter makes an internal noise periodically, indicating that it's doing something. It only lasts a few seconds. While it is doing whatever it's doing i can't do anything. For example if i'm typing the cursor freezes in place and then after it stops the letters i've typed appear. I'de sure like to know what it's doing. I use windows ME
