Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
Fencer, could you make the Main page link visible again in the Simple set up, when using the chat box please It is still there in it same place it used to be (at top of screen) but you can not see it (only red number on right) as the chat box is on top of it, so it cant be used
I am just about to start playing in a Team Cheversi challenge match. We have new rules since i last played it, so i have just read up on them. The board printed in the rules HERE, says it is how the board would look after a several moves. Does it
Fencer: If i squint i can make it out, BUT it is know where near as clear as it was with blue numbers (white would be much better).
Someone else put it down as a bug, saying they could no longer see where they could go properly now, so they are no longer playing it. If you like the brown, at least give us a setting that we can toggle PLEASE Fencer
Has the colour of the numbers been changed in Knight Fight ? It used to show the available ones you can go to in blue, now it seems to be a browny colour almost the same as the squares, very hard to see now, white ones would make sense
Fencer, do you remember a while ago i asked about the following. I do not think its a bug or a feature request, so i will mention it here
When we make a move in a game and STAY in that game, we have a nice link still in the top-left that says Play the next game of xxxxxx just so we can jump to the next game of that type.
Two things: 1) The link is not there if the move you have just played finishes that game. 2) Could we have the destination drop box there instead / as well ? So we can goto Next Game, Main Page etc..
As Firefox 3 fully supports Animated PNG files(new file format), will we be able to use Animated Avatars on BrainKing in the future or don't you want them
Fencer: Eh ? I was just inquiring about something that needs to be addressed.
We would have many more Elimination Tournaments running, as everyone created would start & who enters, would be guaranteed to play, rather than them just getting deleted all the time
Субъект: Re: 108 BK games? Where's that number 108?
Сделано для MadMonkey (17. Февраля 2008, 22:35:01)
joshi tm: Well, you asked what it was, all i did was find it, i just used my head, like when i first found the Random Teams
It does not appear it can be set up though. It has to be introduced somehow and if you had not been going through Stats at the time, you would probably never had noticed it UNTIL Fencer releases it fully
(oh, it should in theory say 109 games, because if you change the URL to 255 it lets you set a Random game up)
Субъект: Re: 108 BK games? Where's that number 108?
joshi tm: And if set up game 107 (Triple Dice Poker 6D), when you get to the next page, change the number at the top in the URL to 108, guess what, you have BIG Jungle
Well, thanks to Eriisa, we seem to have ChatZilla working and BrainKing has its own Channel (Live Discussion Board / Chatroom)
ChatZilla is a Firefox Extension, and is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client. In other words, a place to create a Live Discussion Board or Chat Room
Those of you that have used any form of IRC (Interent Relay Chat) before should have no problem finding it on the dalnet server.
Everyone on BrainKing is welcome to log into it, whether by ChatZilla or any other IRC program.
So, please just download ChatZilla, follow the Instructions and hopefully you will find Myself & Eriisa there
Those using any other form of IRC, i am sure will know how to get there , just type /join #brainking from the dalnet server.
There is no real reason to create a live discuccion forum as such, but it has been talked about many times on BrainKing.
This is just a nice way to do it in the form of a Firefox Extension and just for BrainKing users
The room is there all the time, and hopefully an Operator (Eriisa & myself at present, more will be added) will be there to help answer any questions.
So if you just fancy a chat with friends or there is a problem with the site and you want somewhere to go and vent yourself(within reason), you now have somewhere to go LOL
Come and join us either through ChatZilla OR any IRC provider
Has anyone else noticed, that the only players that never seem to complain about ANY sort of connection problem OR site speed, are players from the Czech Republic (or surrounding countries) ?
Do they not have problems ? If not, Why not ? Could that be looked into ???
As a note i would like to say, as many of you, I have had lots of problems in the last few months, BUT this week (Wednesday & Thursday nights UK time), BrainKing was flying, both night i made over 400 moves in a few hours, which is amazing for 2 reasons.
1) the recent problems, i did not expect it at all 2) i was at work, and WAS actually working as well
So WHY were those 2 nights so special ? Who knows ? They should not have been, as normally all our friends from the States would have been on, so site should be slower if anything
Fencer: lol, well its half a request then, as part of it is already there, more of a Feature Extension or Add-on (gets more like Firefox everyday lol).
I will post this here, as i posted it as a bug and now its gone
On our main Fellowship page (where Members & Teams are listed), in the Team box, it shows if there is an Open Team Tournament at present, and gives you a clickable link to it.
I would like to know why in the Random Team box there are not 2 links as there are 2 open Tournaments at the moment ?
Hrqls, Gordon Shumway & Roberto Silva: Well it would be nice if we could be told how it was worked out now
The last i knew is that Team BKR's were an average of players in the Team, and as was suggested (by rod i think, and i agreed) ages ago that it be changed so it was worked out on Team performance instead
If this is the case lets have more stats & graphs for those that take part in Teams
Still nice to see we can have Teams with no players on, that are rated
Fencer (or anyone who knows lol), where do the BKR's of Teams come from ?
I thought it was an average of the signed on players, but it appears not
I was just asked this question in the Madhouse, and that would have been my answer, as i thought a while ago there was a suggestion which i seconded that Team BKR's should be worked out on Team performance in Tournaments & Challenges Matches (which would make more sense).
Anyway, as i was asked this i thought i would check. Looking at the Madhouse ones, our Anti Chess Team is our highest rated (1806). Now i DO NOT have an Anti Chess Team at present, so it can not be an average of those players as they are not any.
So i looked back at past results, we have not played and Team Challenges, and only played ONE Team Tournament. So i averaged those players that took part in that, and thats not the answer.
So, where does it come from ?
I have checked a couple of other Teams and the same applies, so i guess it applies to all.
When we click on the new Fellowship team tournaments in Fellowships, what exactly is it meant to show The default is set to ALL, but it does not show all when you get there. By process of Elimination, it seems to show the Tournaments we have signed for already. After having a little play, by clicking Show when set to all, it does show all Team Tournaments.
Hrqls: That could also provide good information for Fencer More like a survey, which country you are in, type of connection, font setting etc etc... in fact anything we can think of that may involve pc, connection or site performance issues.
Maybe we can find a common denominator
We have a poll system here (well we did lol), maybe Fencer could modify that
