Do you miss something on BrainKing.com and would you like to see it here? Post your request into this board! If there is a more specific board for the request, (i.e. game rule changes etc) then it should be posted and discussed on that specific board.
The other reason (besides the inability to chat between moves) was that the board can change substantially in one move (for example, in reversi (or even backgammon)) that it could be even more confusing to new players who maybe just learned the rules. It could (and likely would) also cause many many many complains / comments regarding "My opponent is cheating." or "This game doesn't look right." or "Why did my opponent get to move more than once?" or something like that.
That is a feature that has been discussed on here even long before I first came to the site. (Because I also brought it up. *EDIT - Just looked, did that on Feb 18th, 2003!)
I believe one of the original reasons Fencer did not want to put it in is because it would take away an option to chat in between moves.... or a conversation could get lost or something.
But it would be a great option - I have been playing a backgammon game recently where in 20 moves, 19 of them were me just passing.
Anyway, it could work. For example, if I make a move, and the next person can not move, the computer lets me keep moving until the other person can move. Then when the other person comes on line, they will get a message like "You could not move for XX turns, would you like to go through each move or go to current move?" - Then they could go through each move if they wanted, or just skip to the current move which is ready for them to make.
But, bottom line is Fencer does not want it, so O'well.
I was wondering if it was ever brought up about having the Tournament Creator have the option of setting a 1...2...3 wins in place of the standard 3 wins. I myself prefer 1 win, or have all the games rated which would help alot! At least the choice should be up to the Creator of the tournament! What do ya think Fencer?
i agree, the site is very good. I pay here and no longer pay at iyt. I am just saying that I would prefer that feature, especially in games that take a long time as it is (e.g backgammon).
i find it annoying sometimes too!!!! when i am in the middle of talking and then get the message about the turn being passed!!!! I certainly would not like to see it here...
This is a great site with so many great features... be thankful for what you have got and the speed fencer works at to get things sorted and also the replies to us all :)
I agree, auto-pass should be an option at the user level. If I could make my turns automatically pass, or make the only move available then I would choose to do so.
I think ladders should be for paying individuals only. But, it could be used in marketing,
you can participate in one ladder only unless you are paying.
Get them addicted then charge... Kind of like Drugs :-)
They have introduced ladders at ItsYourTurn.com. Which again brings up a question here, when is BrainKing going to try this? Ladders are also used at Yahoo! games for its paying members. Should we have ladders here for everyone or just the paying members??
T-shirts, Jerseys, Hoodies

New seasonal items added ongoing!
And as a side note, a site I use (Nitpickers.com) has used CafePress for years. I've never used them, but I have only heard good things... other then their base price seems a little high on some items.
Actually you would not need any "up front" capitol if you use a site like CafePress
You can create a store with up to 50 products, with a logo(s) that you upload. And then you set a retail price OVER the CafePress.com base price.
It's not the best option since you would only make a few dollars off items (and CafePress makes the rest), but it does all the work for you and it would basicly run itself after awhile!
Great idea Jason.... MERCHANDISE!!!!!!
Tee shirts, coffee mugs etc.....
The only down fall is that it would take some 'up front' capitol. They don't make those things for free, and let you pay them later, after they are sold....Maybe we could have a tournament to raise money to pay for bumper stickers so Fencer can sell them to raise money for a new server ;)
fencer have you got plans to have some car stickers and such things ?? if you had i think there would be many of us who would like to purchase some and help spread the word about the site
<Could we have it so that when we define a tournament and set the closing date/time for signup that it's based on our own time zone -when- we set it, rather than trying to guess where to set it to make it the time we want? :>
Steve R: I must do FULL CHECK of RAM of our servers. It can be posible when boot from CDROM.
Yeah, i do it in saturay, when i wake up, have lunch a go tu hosting centrum visit our servers.
And when is the game time going to be taken off suspend?
I have games that should have timed out and the players have been online but not moved. Going by the number of moves players are making, (including most moves wednesday was 900+) I dont see why it needs suspending
Why do we need game pages to auto refresh? If you in a game, when you click or move a piece it refreshes anyway. I like the auto refresh on the main page. But would things not slow down as much if it were removed from games pages?
Even an invitational one would still mean we would be playing players from our own team. I am sure Fencer could add a space on the Game setup page saying, Does this game have a title ?
harley, i am talking about the matches between fellowships that we are playing.
As we can not use the tournament creation way on BK (as we would end playing people from our own fellowship) all games have to be set up seperatly(normally by all the players of one team) & then displayed on an external webpage.
Ahh I see. But if you made the tournament within the fellowship, invitational only - you could change the name there. As long as all players were in both fellowships it would work.
MadMonkey, you already can. Go back to 'start/edit tournament' and you can alter the title. So instead of it saying "MadMonkeysMadhouse chess" you could change it to "Madhouse vs Sunshine" (for example)
LOL - I didnt mean a link Steve, just a title, like when it says Normal Game at the moment, to go in place of that, just so we can find them easier. I know in the new version that the fellowship challenge matches are not ready yet and wont be for a while, so looks like we are going to be running challenges like this for a bit yet.
*Thinks Steve may need a larger webpage LOL*
Fencer: I know you are not making any changes to the current BrainKing.
When the BK 2.0 is released i dont know if the inter-fellowship challenges we be ready to be used.
If they are not could we have somewhere on the game setup page to put in a title for a game e.g. Madhouse Vs Sunshine, rather then just have Normal game show up.
You know we are setting our own challenges at the moment to get members in the mood, and it would be so much easier to keep track of these games if we could have a title to look for amongst all our games.
The one we started last night has 128 games in LOL.
I can see where this would be good but it may reveal "secrets" of a person's success, like piece placements in screen chess and battleships in battleships, and that would be to their disadvantage in future games. Part of the skill, I think, is in the method of play which is not intended to be revealed.
Please add a feature to download .pgn for Dark Chess game after it is finished. It is very interesting to replay the game aftewards to see how the opponent played. With game in .pgn format you can do it more convinietnly, e.g. in Arena GUI.
<WTF was that all about??? I only hit the sub button twice, and that was because the first came back 'page contains no data' ... fairly common, actually, but never before producing such unexpected results. I shall delete the extras, hopefully without deleting the board. :>
