Discussing favorite movies is a great topic but keep in mind some folks haven't seen the movie yet we may be discussing so don't give the endings away!

I took my family to see this movie...It felt like it Stallone's "farewell" to this character. It dealt more with the aging character and less with boxing, but the character development wasn't there. Overall I felt the story was shallow. I would only give it two and a half stars.
Gentlegiant101: I did not hear or read any thing like this. But, I have heard similar comments before. Those types of people anger me. You help people in need! Regardless of who is in power!
The people there knew the danger and risk. They knew what would happen when a major hurricane hit. In california, the people know the risks from earthquakes. In the midwest, the people know the risks form tornadoes...
These people chose to live there...
Does that mean, "They deserve it and we shouldn't help them"? Absolutely not! A society can be graded on how well it helps it citizens in times of need. WE HELP THOSE IN NEED! PERIOD!
Those that say we shouldn't (for what ever reason) are TWO FACED! They will be begging for help if they were struck by some natural disaster!
Tuesday: A few of the dogs did not survive. Most did. I won't tell which ones...
There were a few bleak moments in the movie. but, there were also some triumphant moments too. Overall, I would say the movie ended on a positive note.
If you like the originals, you'll love this remake. Steve Martin did an outstanding job. Even my wife, who doesn't normally like this types of movies, could help laughing. There were some scenes that were absolutely hillarious. It was refreshing to have a comedy that didn't sink to the "Toilet" humor...well, except the "Sound Booth" scene!
Has anyone else seen this movie. My wife loved it. I thought it was a good movie, but not great. I found the dog's behavior somewhat unbelievable. I also found the "Misery" of Jerry Shepard to drag out for the whole six months. However, the acting (Paul Walker, Bruce Greenwood, Moon Bloodgood, and Jason Biggs) was well done. The dog training was excellent. It was a well made movie that I will buy when it comes out on DVD.
whatdidyousay: Foul language in movies targeted to kids drives me NUTS. Is the movie industry intentionally trying to persuade our kids it is OK to curse? Why else would the have kids cursing in a "Kids" movie? It would be just as believable with out it.
Has anyone seen this movie yet? I took my kids to see it. They loved it. I didn't see ANYTHING new in it. Very predictable. The fighting siblings got real old after a while. Put stars (space) behind Jumanji and you have Zathura. Not a great movie, but again, my kids loved it. They must be easier to please than I am.
Rose: I saw Sahara in the Theater. It was a very entertaining movie...but I was VERY disappointed. I really enjoyed the book (Clive Cussler). The movie deviated way too much from the book. I also didn't like the casting. I thought the characters were inconsistent with my expectations from the "Dirk Pit" novels.
harley: I thought it was a very entertaining movie. My two complaints were:
1. It was too focused on Tom Cruise's character. It felt like the aliens were specifically out to get him. It would have been nice to have some scenes to show that the "invasion" was global.
2. It ended too quick with no climax. Going good, then they all got sick and died...in a matter of minutes.
I work in an office complex where part of te complex it a theatre with 17 screens. Man you should have seen the people waiting in lines...IN COSTUME!. There were some really good costumes. Me? I just couldn't figure the draw to stay up to watch it at midnight...In fact, My company bought tickets for my entire department. I went golfing instead. I'll wait for the crowds to dwindle.
Normally, my department does breakfast Friday mornings (company pays). This thursday, our department is going to the movies (again, company pays) instead. Any guesses as to which movie?
Went and saw this movie...I laughed. It was funny. My poor wife. She hadn't played the text adventure game nor had she read the book. She was totally lost.
Pawnchucker, Now you are really putting me to the grind stone...Hmmmm, if I could figure that out I could make a lot of money as a casting director . This is not the last book I read, so I can't remember all of my mental images of the characters.
Jeff Goldblum as Michael Tolland?
Shannyn Sossamon as Racheal Sexton?
Nothingness: Did you like the ending to the Dark tower/Gunslinger series by Stephen King? I was somewhat disappointed. Although, it does make some sense based on the preceding story.
Rose: It's been sooo long since I've seen Get Shorty", that I don't remember hardly anything about it. One thing about "Be Cool", The Rock was quite funny as a Gay Bodyguard.
Rose: I often loan out my movies to friends/family so I wrote a program to keep track of my library and who has what borrowed. The ASP page just pulls from the same database so updates are WAY simple. The program is fairly simple, but I could give you a copy of it if you want.

Rose: Absolutely. I hate it when they throw sex scenes into movies...just for the skin of it. As for a rental, I almost NEVER rent movies. I buy them. You should see my library. May not be the biggest, but it is still growing.
I found this to be a very entertaining movie. There were some "holes" in it. But, oh well. It was still a very fun movie to watch. I found it refreshing to see a movie that was put out for "Entertainment". It seems, to me at least, that so many movies now days have an agenda/message.
My kids loved it. I found it disappointing. Entertaining, but still disappointing. The acting was horrible. The characters were shallow and unbelievable. The special effects were not "special". It was also very predictable.
My kids watch a lot of movies. They are continually asking me..."Is it real". I know LOTS of adults that are that way. There are too many people in this world that are sponges (believe everything they hear/see). There are also too many people in this world that live behind brick walls. No matter the logic or proof, they will not change their mind.
With that said, I don't think someone that does not want to see the movie is "Close-Minded". Almost everyone believes there is an agenda behind the movie. I prefer to get my information from un-biased sources (does anyone know of one?).
I belong to a religion that receives a lot of persecution. I have seen/read a lot of the "Anti" literature put out there against my religion. The most effective ones are the ones that present the facts (while ignoring some others) in such a way that it gives a different meaning. I have learned that you can always present facts to back up your opinion.
So, should I watch this movie to learn what really happened...I think NO! It might be filled with facts, but that doesn't mean it is accurate. It also doesn't mean it is wrong either. It WILL probably give a lot of interesting ideas and maybe even some facts that most people don't know about. But, if someone wants to really know, they need to research it on their own. Don't just take one persons opinion. Especially if presented in movie format. When someone has a different view from mine, I like to discuss it with them. You can't do that with a movie.
I know myself well enough to not be afraid to listen, openly, to other points of view. I am quite open minded, but intelligent enough not to be swayed by emotion. Mostly I don't want to see the movie because it isn't the type of movie I like watching.
Do you have people borrow your movies? I do. I have so many that I developed a Palm program to track what movies I have and who has which movie. I even post my DVD list on my web site (www.summertop.com). Sorry, good people of BK, I don't ship and I don't loan them out to people I don't know.
Yeah, it is about hockey. 1000 movies? What is it, the BBW video store? I have over 200 hundred DVD's and countless videos, but not 1000 worth. Are you like me...STILL nothing to watch? LOL.
No I didn't watch the bonus disk. I agree that it was a well made movie. I had heard it was "Really Good". I felt like I was left hanging at the end. I also had a hard time believing in some of the characters. It was a good movie. Just not as good as I was expecting.
I took my kids to see an IMAX movie that was also done in 3D. Iv'e seen 3D movies before, but the technology has increased. That and with the IMAX affect, it was stunning. My wife and I had a good time watching our kids react to the movie. They would "duck" to avoid "flying objects" and they were constantly trying to "grab" other objects. If you get a chance to see a 3D IMAX...TAKE IT!
