For us anyways our garden is just about cleaned out.We have a very short Summer in Central NY.Were heading into Fall and its fun with all the fairs going on.I'm sure not looking towards Winter tho.

You are correct
I actually grew up in West Texas where they grew cotton, corn, sorghum, and cattle  LOL

But southern Texas is very different.  It's practically tropical and arid and I wonder if one can grow daffodils and tulips there at all without the dormant winter period.

Also, what type of ground covers thrive in that heat?

I believe it is part of the gypsophilia family (commonly known as baby's breath)
Can it withstand extreme heat, high humidity and very little rain?

ajtgirl:Well it's native to Australia, and there are a lot of different varities and cultivars. It does extremelly well in high temp, poor soil & low rainfall areas.

Still getting tomatoes but not half as many as last year. If I knew how to post a pic of the garden via a link to here I would. Anyone any ideas how to do it?

Foxy Lady:  We can still plant stuff here.  I'm doing some research on what to plant in the fall.  I'm talking about shrubbry and flowering things (as a barrier between properties).   I have a lot to learn because I really don't bother knowing about plants and other growing things.  I'm going to do my first every cherry tree pruning in a few weeks too ;)

OK, I've got tons of sticker bushes and them things have little needles!!!!  OUCH.  How do I get rid of them for good??!!

For most of us the growing season is over so chat is allowed from Fall to Spring.If your in an area that is still growing let us know.

Groucho: Oh no it sure would be a problem.Have you looked that bush up? You may get some ideas.What would you replace the bushes with?

Foxy Lady:  Ferns and other things that grow well in shade.  The stickers grow on vines and it's so thick.  Yuck

Groucho: You could cut them back.

Foxy Lady:  Yeah, probably safer too. 

Maybe gasoline??

Groucho: No you'll destroy the whole area.

Foxy Lady:  I know.  I'll have to use old fashioned methods ;)

we had rain last saturday and sunday :)....very unusual in winter. But it was so nice to get sunshine on monday and even nicer to see mushrooms growing in the yard this morning.

My garden is in full producing stages at the moment.

Cuecumbers are hanging on the vines...heaps of them, silver beet is producing like it is going out of fashion but no matter I love silverbeet. Zucchinis arent doing as well as I would like and neither are the beans :(

Tomatoes are going great guns as are the cherry variety....chokos are starting to climb the fence and the pumpkins are also doing well....My potatoes are in flower and the sweet potatoes are growing quite prolifically.

Grapes will be the best season I have ever had :) but apart from all that nothing exciting is happening here HAHAHAHAHA.

Steve Irwan"bought" it of course...very sad, but he did put his life (and that of his children) in the way of danger.

Apparently the whole thing was filmed and they didnt realize that he was in trouble until he came to the surface on a "cloud of blood"

all very sad and I feel for his wife and the young children
