OK...i am bound to get a few ANTI- Bernice posts on this....but has anybody ASKED Fencer exactly what he wants?
Ask him what he is going to do with the small amounts of money he is going to be getting (maybe)
ask him EXACTLY, what he wants.....stop assuming, stop thinking thru his mind...just let the man get on with building the site up.
Ask him....what would he do with $450....ask him for gods sake....stop sending useless donations... 100 people X $5 in a tournament.....how long would this take to eventuate...the thought is good the final result could be a long way down the track......
either put your money up....or shut up and let Fencer get on with it....only my opinion
I can appreciate and understand what Linda is doing with her tournament to raise money...the question I ask is.....
If this IS the ONLY money raised... $450 for Fencer....what will he do with $450 when that is only a 10th of what he needs....do we go back to trying to raise another $3500, and go through all this explaining etc etc again???
***Edit*** the reasons I ask is...what would he (Fencer) do with $450...it isnt even a deposit.
Would he be expected to refund if this was the only money forthcoming???
Secondly.....are people giving Fencer the money they have pledged already??
I have read where "So and So" will donate $40 if the sun dont set etc....
ok....assume it hasnt set....has the $40 been paid...we have to look at this realistically(sp)
This isnt a hypothetical situation...for Fencer it is real, for the rest of us it is playing with people who in most cases will never meet and will never have any contact with apart from the internet
Just put the link in the middle of a href= and <"/a> (again without the ", I need that to show you because it will not show without it). When you copy and past link:
i.e. http://www.brainking.com/game/Board?bc=45
remove everything before /game because some people use different methods ( http://www.brainking.com, www.brainking.com, brainking.com, newbrainking, etc) to get in, removeing that part will allow everyone to use your link.
How will you accept fee? Ithought it had to be over certain amount due to admin fees etc on paypal and so on. Or am I getting confused with something else Fencer was on about?
BTW I am not whinging, I have signed up :o)
and ideas only come from talking about it
BK Fund Raiser
Instead of talking about it all day, we're doing something to raise money. We are trying to set up a prize tournament to raise money for BK. The tournament will be backgammon with an entrance fee of $5 with all proceeds going to BK. The prize will be $50 to the winner. Get a chance at $50 and help BK all in one. You will be asked to pay the fee of $5 once we know we have enough interested players. All entrance fees will have to be collected before the tournament can begin.
In order for this to work well we are hoping for at least 100 entrants which would be $500
$450 would go to BK and $50 to the winner. Please only serious entrees please. If you sign up for this tournament we will take it that you will be willing to pay the fee.
Yea I did ask it before, but it got "buried" without an answer - and the pawn in question has been watching this board for an answer. The pawn has already found 5 free slots, but just in case trying to find 2 more if needed.
So I figured I would repost it in case Fencer missed the first post. :-)
I think I know the answer, but I just want to confirm it.
I have a tournament which is one game per 2 players - Max of 8 players per section.
The computer only checks to see if the pawn has 5 game slots open, correct?
So if a pawn has 15 current games, the computer will let him in even if it might give him 22 total games, correct?
I just want to double check so I don't accedently mess up a pawn which wants to be in my tournament, but needs to finish a couple of current games first.
Ive removed someone because i have maybe stipulated it was only for dummies, not experts, and have had 2000+ join...they didnt come back to me on it, so i assumed they were just removed:)
Subjekt: I think I asked before but forgot the answer DOH!!
Fencer, If I remove someone from a Tournament using the "remove link" Does it let them know they have been removed by pm etc? or will they only find out if they look at the tourny again?
this doesnt suprise me in the least!
Not a Floosie is the best...no...greatest backgammon player I have ever met! Her skills far exceed those of any other opponete I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her game skills, along with her intellect and bright wit...make every game a true pleasure.
hehe:)
First winning #35 of the "Fast Start" Backgammon tournament, which then earned them a chance to join the CHAMPIONSHIP Invitaitional 31-40 which is now complete with NOT a floosie the winner!
Ohhhhhh, thanks, BBW, I see whats happened now. Fencer, this may be one for you! I hadn't realised that maharajah game was the decider in this tourney. Sorry!
I believe it is something on Fencer's to-do-list for after version 2 is done (or possible for version 2) - which is to check to see if the tournament is complete enough to go ahead and start next round.
Not to ruffle anyone's feathers, but in reading over the latest notes, I agree more with what Imchucking said, but I don't believe that most (notice I said "MOST") slow players are sitting there watching the minutes tick away before submitting a move, although I know of a few who I am sure were doing exactly that!
But something else bothers me, a problem similar to this discussion. In quite a few tournaments I am in, I am poised to go on to the second round, and the winner of the opposing section has been decided also, but some other insignificant game is keeping the second round from starting. I appreciate that the game is important to those playing it, but it is not consequential to the procession of the tournament, and this is the only site I have ever played on that did not have a constant recalculation process (after each finished game) to move the events along expeditiously.... Well, I can live with it, but it is a definite deterrent to enjoyment, always checking to see if one of these games is over, or how near it may be.
As for opponents who take too much time, whether by accident or design, I don't really believe there is any remedy, since there is no clear infraction of the rules.
