pauloaguia: Game time left can only be determined for games with a Fisher clock, and a 0.0 increment/move, can't it? Since a lot of players will not play any such games, using another column takes, IMO, too much screen estate for its return. OTOH, if Fencer also added another configuration parameter, which indicates which columns you see on your running games lists (for instance, I personally don't care to see the name of the tournament - and with it gone I can see more games without scrolling as many tournament names are long enough to cause wrapping).
On the Main Page game list, each game has a reference to how much time there is left. But there is no distinction between time left for the move or time left for the game. The later definitelly need some special attention and shouldn't be mingled between the rest of the games (and only come to the top of the list when their time is running out).
Can this information please be added? Some suggestions:
New column with indication of "type of time left" (game or move). This would allow to sort by this property
On games running on Fischer Clock, add a red dot next to the time left with the legend on top (game time left)
Separate this type of games into another table
I personally prefer the second and hate the third (but I always add even the ideas I hate - it may trigger some good ones as well).
chessmec: They tend to hold personal vendettas as well. There are still certain boards that I'm banned from simply because I spoke out against their disorderly conduct.
nobleheart: This idea for a 'World Events' board has been both suggested and declined in the past.
Btw, you can't be a Co-Mod unless you pay for it.
I happen to think it'd be a good feature, so long as it was run fairly (no 'tiny tyrannies' for Mod regime). If such a board were created, the possibility for 'rants' would always be there, because most people can't hold a real debate without slinging mud in the other guy's face.
However, this also might draw in more potential customers into BK, a'cuz 'Everybody loves to watch the fights'
nobleheart: IMO, There is no way you could have a public environment mor world watch board without using the word 'debate' in the description!
There are plenty of the types of topics you suggest being discussed and debated currently in the form of fwellowships. Just another good reason to upgrade your membership :)
I think it is a great idea to have a few "subject related links" posted above the books board.
I think it would be a good suggestion for each board to have such a related links list.
-------
I think a board for "art & culture" would be a good suggestion.I could consider co-moderating.but I think before I speak,it would be wise to read what it means to be a moderator.
------
considering current events world wide.
maybe a board for "enviroment & world watch issues" might be of interest.
but I would hope it wouldnt to too contraversal.and if it became so,could people debate & even agree to disagree without it decaying into a rant war?
Konu: okay so we had to learn that correct vacancy is no feature and I grant you religious reasons then
it is sunday. any answers beyond humbug which would even require
a minimum of logic, like for three-and-a-half-checks chess e.g. as well
are not appropriate today - it's considered being kinda work. I understand. ~*~

my bewilderment several games shortly before timeout (saved main page as .maff)
why the heck do I set (very early) holidays if it means nothing - as visible yet NOW ... ~*~
types of vacancy are no acceptable feature. after we
learned the chech vacancy type lately by watching Jelly ,
perhaps now I had to face the german type with timeouts on holidays ? . ~*~ .
Vikings: Yes either in the order they joined the F/S or alphabeticaly. Right now it's random and takes a long time to find an individual player if you have a lot of members.
It would be better if user selected board = 1, to see 'user infos' at the left or right side of board games.
This change gives to users quick understand latest position, points etc. without scrolling the page and get response. It specially helps to users who plays many games at the same time like tournaments.
With all the new languages the number of DB's named BrainKing.com is growing. And I've added a few of them to my favourite DB list. The problem is they are all named the same. So it's getting confusing to know which one is which.
Could the names please be changed so that they have a change in them (maybe BrainKing.com/pt? or similar)
Another alternative would be to have the flag next to their names.
ColonelCrockett (hide) change to game page (7/6, 23:14:27) there should be a link to
message an opponent on the game screen. - oh yeah if everyone would read one half at least and understand a half of it, after all we'd become a quarter of agreement. ... ~*~
ScarletRose: the envelope doesnt only show next to the name of a 'friend' .. it shows next to the name of all your opponents names below the game board (where the stats of the game are) (as long as you dont have the opponent on your blocked list, or the opponent has you on his/her blocked list)
i guess a tag could be added to the envelope message which would show a message when you hold the mouse over the envelope for some time (like the personal data shown when you hold your mouse over the pawn/knight/rook/.. symbol next to the name) ?
ColonelCrockett: Of course only those on your friends list which are online will have a clickable envelope on the main page.. to send a message to.. to those who you are playing against you will have to click on their name if they aren't on your friends list and aren't online..
there should be a link to message an opponent on the game screen. (the current method is clicking the name and then clicking "send message" beside their name in their profile). This change sounds almost silly at first, right up until you have to deal with a dial-up connection on an extra page.
Konu: Re: to make the handling of left time trustable again ...
danoschek: you really oughtta consider giving up smoking.. it is so unhealthy for you.. and will make you look and feel so much younger when you do quit.. :)
I would like to see an option to retract a PM, game invite, F/S invite or tournament invite if it has not yet been read. It could appear in bold letters and subject to delete until it is read by the recipiant.
Konu: Re: to make the handling of left time trustable again ...

(sakla) If you click on a person's name and then click Finished games you will have a list of games that have been completed, then click on the name of the game to get a summary of all of these games, then click on the name of the game again and you will have a game to view and analyze.
