*ahem*.. now.. well.. UUUmmm.. OOO.. well.. Okay.. with all due respect there Ed.. beings that you are a chess player.. and are intelligent.. and you come accross sometimes in an intimidating way.. *cough*..
One might just think that you looked all businessy and geekish..
I expected to see a man who was all business like wearing dark rimmed glasses and having a pencil stuck behind his ear.. But, you seem far from that.. You actually are a nice looking man there Trice..
Well, Robin Roberts is the person behind me wearing the cap. That was taken on September 28, 2003, the last day the Philadelphia Phillies' played at Veteran's Stadium before they knocked it down.
I sometimes thought the knights were too far from the center in Gothic, but in Grotesque they look too close. Where would they develop to? Not in front of the center pawns, surely? But if they go the other way they seem to hinder development of the bishops.
It seems like this board is getting a little out of control, or maybe I'm just reading some posts wrong. I certainly don't see a new to ban anyone, but since I'm new at ths position, I thought I'd ask anyone else out there who wishes to express their opinion about any of the recent posts to PM me. This board belongs to us all (everyone who reads it), so I'll try to moderate it (along with the other mods.) as best as I can for the audience. If people prefer to see all kinds of rhetoric, we can allow those kind of posts, or if people prefer a cleaner board, we can work toward that too. Just looking for some input/feedback. My door is always open.
Even in regular chess.. the Queen is a strong one.. the king.. so limited yet the main focus of capture..
In Gothic.. the archbishop and Chancelor are rather strong players.. Just as the Queen is.. Although, I still prefer to save my Queen due to her unlimited straight and diagonal moves..
This is just my opinion though.. for I am no master player.. nor do I have time to really sit and study chess or the variants soley.. I just play for fun.. '

If you go to http://www.chessvariants.org/large.dir/grotesque.
html or click here you will see there is no mention of Gothic Chess or my name anywhere on the "Grotesque Chess" page.
So, Purple, what were you saying?
He was given the option to remove the slander, remove all mention of circumventing my patent, remove "gothic chess", all 15 instances, get it done by noon (giving him 3 hours) or he would come to court and be judged.
Looks like this person was the "genius" Purple, because anyone who enters a courtroom with me is stupid.
You think I always win at Gothic Chess? Try me in the legal system. I am a "Grandmaster".
Ed is a near genius who has fallen into the trap of continually doublng his bets trying to get even. Even if all the bluster were to come true it would endear him to nobody but, unlike me, he can't seem to change his ways. LOL.
My attorneys are taking care of it all, that's what I pay them to do. Fergus, the author of the page, will be served with legal documents today, requesting his presence in a court in Philadelphia. His attorney will advise him to change the content of that web page drastically, or take it down altogether.
If you wonder who would be the best player at Gothic Chess the answer is simple: MICHAEL TAL!
If G.Kasparov, R.Fischer or J.R.Capablanca would have a 2800 at Gothic Chess then it is sure that M.Tal would definitely have a 3200!
Since Gothic Chess offers 3 major pieces,2 rooks and 4 other minor pieces, the attackes and sacrifices are endless. They happen 4-5 times more frequently that Chess. I'm too dissapointed that M.TAl isn't here. He would have shown us millions of beautiful attacks and startling sacrifices. I doubt that he would lose one single game. The man was sacrificing material everytime at Chess. At Gothic Chess would be the worst nightmare of any player.
I really don't like these kind of wars about Gothic Chess. It seems people don't like the idea of patening a game. Neither i, but a law is a law and we have to support the laws in order to have a balance and some peace in our life.
As for this new variation of Grotesque Chess, i don't think it violates the patent at all. Also i don't find anything bad that could be used as an accusation for the Chessvariants site. Perhaps is just me, as i doesn't care about any accusations.
But really, why people should always have to argue and fight about something. Why they can't agree?
Unfortunately these kind of disagreements don't promote Gothic Chess and it's really a shame as this game deserves to become as popular as Chess.
This is not about the patent, it is about slander.
My name is "all over" that page like I am 'the bad guy'. I offered them a license for $1 per year, and they invented some fictional account of their own persecution.
Attorneys loves cases like this, because they are so easy to win, and the offenders will lose so much money.
I think you can ,but is not the same,Scarlett. If you read the site exactly you can see that there are different similar variants before GC was patented. Moreover the laws indeed are different in other countries.
Does this mean I can write a story and just change the wittle words.. (but, not change the meaning or the plot of it).. and not be sued. Cause I would think it is the same thing.. Or are laws different in other countries?
1. Convert your a.u. distances to meters.
2. Convert your orbital duration into seconds, mindful that 24x60x60 = 86400 seconds per day.
3. T squared (in seconds) over R cubed (in meters) is your answer for the mass.
