Didja ever wonder who wrote some of Waylon's, Willie's and Johnny's music.....oh, and did I mention Elvis, and Bob Dylan? Here's the man, another of the Texas' Outlaws. Billy Joe was born in Corsicana, just down I-45 from me. I always cut off there headed down Highway 31 across country to the "Heart of Texas", Waco, and parts south.

On New Year's Eve in 2000, Billy Joe's son, Eddy, died in his sleep of an overdose. He was a phenomenal guitar player, and he played with his dad's band. Hope you enjoy this cut. I love the song. Freedom's Child is the name of a Shaver CD released in 2002. It was the first CD after Eddy's death. It was such a relief to hear that familiar voice again. We've all (us Texas music fanatics) conjectured it was written for Eddy.

And, that big domed building at the end of the street about 3/4 way through the song...in the scene shot down the middle of a street?  That's the Texas Capitol building built entirely out of Texas pink granite.  It's quite a sight to see.
