That is some seriously good music JD. The lyrics posit hope, with despair. There were tears behind my eyes on the second hearing, that I then knew were there on the first. Gerard Way has a fanTASTic voice. It almost feels endless, like he could go forever and never reach the wall. Well chosen, thanks for sharing that. I plan to buy the CD, because the whole album is a story, according to Wikipedia, and I intend to feel the whole thing. The band cites Queen as a strong influence on the album, as well as Pink Floyd's The Wall. I can hear that. But, they have struck their own vein. Here's hoping they continue to mine it.
You know, sometimes new music feels like just so much noise, or venom. This was neither.
Jim Dandy: What a showman! Bohemian Rhapsody was number one for weeks in the Uk! My dad used to buy me all the no 1s on 45s and every Christmas he bought me the top 20 on 45s. Another ole favourite of mine was Liberace Another great showman. They sure don,t make em like that anymore lmbo!
Mousetrap: I love early Queen, everything up until "THE GAME" I was never fond of Freddie cutting his hair and growing the moustache or the direction they took from that point on.I was very lucky to obtain a bootleg dvd of them performing at the Hammersmith during the recording of the breakthrough NIGHT AT THE OPERA album, they perform a short section of what they had recorded up to that point.
I AGREE! "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY" WAS ONE OF FREDDIE'S BEST!! 8^) AND I CONCUR WITH YOU ON LIBERACE TOO! PEOPLE MAY MOCK HIS PRIVATE LIFE AND MAKE JOKES, BUT LIKE HE USED TO SAY... "HE LAUGHED ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK" THAT MAMA'S BOY DID!! LOL! HE WAS A PIANIST PAR EXCELLENCE! AND THE COSTUMES HE WORE, WHICH WEIGHED HUNDREDS OF POUNDS FROM ALL THE JEWELS AND RHINESTONES THAT WERE EACH HAND- SEWN ON THE CAPES, WERE ALSO THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE JUMPSUITS THAT ELVIS WORE IN HIS LAS VEGAS YEARS! IF "THE KING" DIDN'T THINK THEY WERE "SISSY" COSTUMES, THEN NEITHER SHOULD WE! TAKES A REAL MAN TO BE ABLE TO HAUL 300 - 400 POUNDS OF RHINESTONES LIKE THAT!! SO HATS OFF TO LIBERACE! HE WAS A TALENTED MAN AND WAS ADMIRED BY MANY PEOPLE WHO APPRECIATED NOT ONLY HIS MUSIC, BUT ALSO HIS TRUE DEVOTION TO HIS MOTHER WHILE SHE WAS ALIVE. MY OWN MOTHER THOUGHT THE WORLD OF HIM AND HIS MUSIC, AND I DO TOO!!
