Can't. With WebTV the javascript option doesn't work. I wonder how many others there are that we don't see on that list?

My point is, why aren't these on the list I see when I click the "?" above message boxes? And if it is not on this page, how do people know about it?

just a query.....I come on at about the same time everyday and leave at about the same time with no games left to be played at my end....today when I came on I had timed out a Tourney game with Czechgirl...how did this happen....Im not worried about it but it does give her an unfair advantage over the other players in the tourney :(

Is the smiley list up to date? I swear I saw one that had a smiley holding a sign saying "Brainking is #1", yet I do not see it on the list.

how much would this games site charge per day if someone wanted to buy extra days of vacation to top up because they run out.
I ask this because I am playing a paid rook member right now who is already down to 1 day and the year is only 1/4 finished.

I just noticed on the brainking info that there is a competition being run but they have listed the end date as March 2004 instead of March 2005.
Would it be a good idea to have this corrected?

It will work in a more accurate way when the database server is upgraded. I cannot make it more overloaded at the moment.

It works this way:
There are 2 situations that may occur:

1) You set your vacation days BEFORE your opponent made her/his move in a particular game. After your opponent makes her/his move, the remaining time will include the vacation days you set before. E.g . if it's a 1-day-per-move game and you set Tuesday and Wednesday as your vacation days (let's presume your opponent made her/his move on Monday at 10:00) plus your weekend days are Thursday and Friday, the time of your time-out will be set at Saturday 10:00.

2) The problem is when you set your vacation days when it's your turn, i.e. AFTER your opponent made her/his move. The system will not automatically calculate these vacation days into the remaining time so the game still shows Tuesday 10:00 as the time-out time. What happens on Tuesday at 10:00? The system first checks whether you have this date among your vacation days or weekend days. If not, it checks for the auto-vac. In all three cases, you get 24 hours added on.

Subject: Re: Re:
Czuch Chuckers: Actually I think it can. Imagine you have auto-vacation on. You timeout on a Friday, at 00:10. AV kicks in, the day is set as vacation and you get extra 24h. All the way through Friday it will give the impression that you have less than 24h to 'live'.
But then, on Sat at 00:10, you timeout. But since you can't timeout on a weekend, you get the extra 48h (or is it 24h again? not sure here).

I've seen this happen a few times before, so I guess it's the way it works...

Subject: Re: Re:
Pedro Martínez: If it says you have 1 hour left to time out, it is really one hour isn it? If a weekend is coming it wont say one hour it will say one hour plus the weekend time wont it?

1. April 2005, 22:58:11
coan.net
So it does not add 24 hours to all games like it use to.... just extends a few games which need it.

1. April 2005, 22:51:44
Pedro Martínez
If you set e.g. today as a vacation day, a game that should expire at 23:55 will get 24 hours added on. But you will time out in a game that should expire at 0:05 tomorrow (after the midnight). That's how it works.

Subject: Vacation vs Auto-Vacation
Maybe a question for Fencer, maybe someone else can answer.

When you use auto-vacation, I know that when a game reaches 0 time, 24 hours is added on. (But the rest of your games get nothing added on.)

When you use to have to use Vacation days, if you scheduled a vacation day, 24 hours was added to ALL your games (not just the ones that are getting ready to expire).

My question - is it still like that, or does scheduling a vacation day act like auto-vacation and just add time to the expired games only?

The main page says that my "first" game will expire in 1 hour. I have activated the auto-protection thing, but let's suppose i hadn't.
Then if i wanted to protect the games from expiration, i would have to add one vacation day for Saturday. But this isn't possible as i have it on my weekend days.
So i suppose that (even with the auto-protection off) the games will be protected during Saturday even if the main page shows that in 1 hour they will expire...........
Right......?

Thats my understanding too, bry. I'm currently in a 10 wins match, and only one of us will get one win added to our win/loss score at the end of it.

Oh, right, I was just in the finals of a tournament that was a 3-wins match.

But games are still counted, aren't they?

In all of my tournaments that had a finals sections, I have made it to the finals, that is a heck of a lot of uncounted games if this is the case!

Were they 'not counted' games, Ed? Without looking at your profile, that seems to be the most likely explanation. Or was one a 3 match game?
