I don't find it very helpful to come online and see 42 new posts on BrainKing.com board - all making fun of a deleted post. If the original post gets deleted - what's the point in keeping the responses? It just leaves people confused. I think it is a good practice of other discussion board systems to remove a whole thread, not just the root post. Or not to remove it, but to move it to a troll fare - a cemetery for deleted posts.

Hi all,

OK, OK, I apologize for being inactive lately, but I'm fully back .  I am completing the list of questions for Emma's interview.  You can see a link to her profile on top of this page.  I need a couple of questions before I send the list to Emma, so hurry :-)  I'll be waiting, but not very long.

Bwild: just think of it as just one more button to click once every 24 hrs - taken in context with how many other "clicks" we make on a daily basis - it will fade from your memory quickly - besides - maybe someday as you move to remove - you will see something that catches your eye.....

redfrog: I'm inclined to aggree with Bwild. I already subscribe to the RSS feed of the blog, why should I have to read the same blog entry twice?
Also, it's not about important news. Fencer just proved that by submiting a News entry this week about the scheduled downtime - he didn't post it as a blog entry, clearly stating that both of them are for different things...

Funny thing: I've grown so used to of clicking the remove link without even reading the blog entry first (since I'll read about it eventually on my RSS client), that I almost removed the scheduled downtime news entry without reading it (and this is particularly important to read, since I usually send Fencer a translated version of the News). Point is: if you just remove or ignore the blog entries, you risk not paying enough attention to the really important news...

pauloaguia: LOL! and I look at it the other way.... Why bother with the RSS when I know I'll see it on the main page. Yep, that is truly a reason to have the permanent remove choice.

Bwild: It would be good as an option, because I like having the blog box at the top of my page when I log on. I read every entry. I don't want to read it on a seperate feed, because I probably wouldn't read it every day in that case.

Cool - I just noticed the setting of "Number of game notation lines to show: "

This is cool - it's always been a pain since I hate to have the game notation there at all, but there are a few games where you need to either see the last move or know what move number you are on (like ice age chess) - so unless those facts are moved to the game board, having the number of game notations lines at 2 or 3 is pretty nice.

... still would rather not have it show at all - but I like it a lot better then loading 50+ lines of game notations.

coan.net: I like being able to choose how many lines of game notation are shown, too. However, I wish there was a way in that area to choose to show the entire game notation.

I always have the game notation hidden. However, there are some games where I find it necessary, and I turn it on to see, then Hide it again. The problem is, there are also games where if I'm going to look at the game notation, I need to see the whole thing. (Frog Finder comes to mind, since there is no other way to remember what squares you have "guessed" and been wrong. MOST games however, when I check the game notation, I am only interested in the last one or two entries. SO, when I come to Frog Finder, I have to go to Settings and change it to show the entire game notation, then go back to the game. THEN go back to settings and change it back to showing 2 lines.) SO, I would like to have a way right in the game notation area, to switch back and forth between ALL entries and 2 entries.

i wish there was a way to hide an invitation.

i like to play short .1/0/.1 games, but i dont want any invitations that i send to remain open when im not online to play them. the only way to do that (and i might be missing something) is to delete them. however, creating new invitations when i log on again is tedious and feels like a waste of time, especially if my invitation is not accepted.

is there a way to do this?
if not, has anyone else ever had this thought?

(maybe this could be considered for a future update...)
