Kevin. Why should it take a month for a game with a banned player to end?

Scarlet: Why would you delete it? If your opponent has been banned and it will take a month for it to time out, so what? Like you said: you are a rook and do not have a limited number of games. Just start another to replace it.

If they are tournament games I don't think you can delete them.
If you resign your BKR will be affected.

Did this site just melt down for a little while, or was it just me?

Everytime I clicked on a link, the page would just 'blink' and come back to where I was. Then I couldn't even get back on for awhile. Seems ok for now :)

No.. especially since the player was banned from the site.. Thank goodness I am a rook and I am not limited to a certain amount of games..

Okay.. since it is evident that this player put automatic vacations on his profile before he was banned.. what can I do.. just delete the game? and will it affect my ratings if I do? Neither one of us has made a move in either of the games to my knowledge..

I often get those little white boxes in games like Froglet, Battleboats and Amazons etc... but only when using IE.
If i use Firefox or Netscape it is fine. I guess it must be something to do with the cookies/cache even though i have tried clearing everthing out.
I do find Firefox slightly slower than IE, but at least i can see a complete game board and the pieces LOL.

It is a bit odd to see the time go down in red numbers.. then come back in black with full time.. when actually I should be getting notices that the opponent ran out of time.. :)

I agree with you Walter.. it is so redundant.. and especially if you have an opponent that uses most of his time up in between playes.. I go nuts when I finally get back a backgammon game.. or reversi game where my turn is passed due to no available play.. or even when I can make a move and my opponent can't..

I can't think of one site that I play at other than this one which doesn't do the auto pass. And usually a messages is given automatically to the opponent making them aware of what all happened. :)

Which is why having it as an option instead of being forced to play that way should keep those that don't like it happy.

I personally don't like autopass, because when I'm blocked from moving four or five turns, and my turn finally comes up, I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone or something. It's like, WoW how'd that happen? I don't even remember playing! And the reason for that is because I HAVEN'T BEEN! LOL! Besides, that's when I do my best ramblin'...when I'm sittin' on the bar!

Anti Chess is another game that has forced moves sometimes. In fact, it often ends with a string of moves like that. I think it would be difficult for Fencer to program like that because some games would be in-progress and over at the same time.

Ed, what you want is what almost all Backgammon players want. Autopass. I tried asking for it on the feature request board, but Fencer was dead set against it for some reason that he wouldn't reveal to the board as he'd discussed it earlier before I had started playing Backgammon. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Backgammon, but on occasion it is possible to block your opponent from having a move and there's no point in having him take his turn as he can't move until a space opens up and he might possibly roll the right number to move again. It is possible to play your pieces just right and hold the turn for six or more turns. It'd certainly speed things up if you could keep the turn with yourself. We even discussed having it as an option, so that your opponent would have to grant the autopass before it would take effect. I know when my opponent has block his home base and I have a blot on the bar, I sure like him to use autopass instead having to press the no move possible button when it's my turn. Reversi has this come up too.
Like I said though, Fencer is against it.

Subject: When is the game time outs going to be fixed?
Modified by ScarletRose (28. November 2004, 06:32:41)
I have two games from a tourney with Long John. They have gone into time outs at least 3 times since LAST weekend. And they all get restarted or refreshed time. This also happened with another player, Universal Eyes, as well as two games from another player which I can't think of the players id at the moment. However, those last three games were able to be saved by my opponents. And for what reason? For me to have to sit and wait endless days just to make a garsh darn move! Please fix the bug in the Time Out thingy. Cause I would certainly not wish to endure another refreshed timeset for the saved games again..

the games for Long John are numbers 522067 and 522068. Didn't know if you needed them. :)

Subject: move implementation
I see that when I select a piece that has only one legal move, the software places it on the legal destination automatically.

My question is, if an opponent has only one legal move in response to a move made, should that move also be made automatically by the software?

This would be helpful in a game such as checkers where many times a forced jump has only one option.

It would be hard to delete them since all past games are visable, and if the player had ever played any games - then it (in my opinion) is easier to just keep the account there instead of writing a script which will keep the games, the ratings, etc... but remove the user.

Is there any reason why you keep them on the database?
