Fencer: Is refresh working ok. I have mine set at 1 minute and it has been fine. Every so often though it seems to stop.

BBW: I plan to do that for all paying members, of course.
About online status: 5 minutes.

Ahh.... too bad that method will be used to show pictures bigger... :-( ... Most of the small pictures are difficult to see well, on a television. And webtv can't use this "hot spot" method..
Oh well! :-)

On Fencer's profile, if you put your mouse over his "small" picture, it will then bring up a bigger picture of himself.

Question: Is this something you are just playing around with Fencer, or something that you plan on offering all paid users who would like to have a bigger picture in their profile?

What's the new "hot spot" that webtv can't see?? Just curious what we are missing. :-)

Subject: Automatic Vacations
I just noticed in Settings that the paid members actually have to turn on the automatic vacation feature. So just a note to all paid players, you may want to turn that on!! :-)

i'd like to request that, since the "overwrite" option seen during setup in Espionage is potentially destructive (and will be used less often than "load position" option), it be placed lower in the list. the more potentially destructive an option is, the later it should appear in any list, to reduce the possibility of its being chosen by accident. so with this thought in mind, it's my belief that the list should read:

- load position
- rename position to __________
- overwrite selected position [or whatever it says]
- delete position

does that make sense?

(i think it does, obviously... ;)

hey UG, why should I put everyone on enemies list :-))) is it because mine is empty?, LOL!

If your status stays the same for 15(?) minutes - i.e. you are "browsing main page" for example, and do not go anywhere else on the site - it will take you off the 'who is online' list.

I'm not a computer geek, but as I understand it, the data base resets it self every so often, and when it does, if you don't have any activity in the last 5 min., then you are considered not on line

I think that if you wait for the 60 min refresh without loading a single page it will eventually show you has offline... but I'm not sure about this...

15. October 2004, 22:19:37

because it checks and can see you logged in and onliune, rather than logged in but not online

It was mentioned a long time back that the site checks ever so often whos online, so after that time, you will show as offline, I cant remember how long, but it was only 5 or 10 mins if I remember rightly

question: if I set a refresh period of the main page to 60 minutes, will other players get an indication (green dot) that I'm on-line ? another question, If I don't click logout and just close my browser, how other players will no I'm off line.

The definitive answer IS, if the picture is seen by you, Fencer approved it.

15. October 2004, 03:34:03

Fencer screens and approves all pictures.

If he allows it, then it is okay..... end of subject?

Is there a quiet coffee shop where we can discuss politics Solus? I'm buying...

I'm only asking a question.
Perhaps Fencer can come up with a definitive answer ?

15. October 2004, 03:32:07
NOT a floosie
Mine too. And I'm in the mood to push the hide button.

I believe that Fencer made a place for pictures to incourage paying members on this site. Fencer is the person that says yes or no on the pictures. I doubt he will say no on any pictures unless they are in poor taste or offensive.

I am sure there are reasons that some people prefer not to have their real picture put up, in which case they still have the option to put up a picture of their cat, or favorite cartoon, or whatever. That is their option, as long as it meets with Fencer's approval.

15. October 2004, 03:31:07

I suggest you talk to Fencer about it if you hate it.

If it's up there, Fencer appoved it

15. October 2004, 03:29:43

Fencer approves the pictures before they are put up. So if Fencer allowed the picture, than yes, I guess it would be okay.

15. October 2004, 03:28:40
The Listener
What if somebody wanted to put a picture of Bart Simpson's butt up there, I guess that would be OK too -- According to you ?

15. October 2004, 03:26:27

Did Fencer alow that pic? So I think it's OK

15. October 2004, 03:24:40

Of course discussing politics belongs elsewhere. But she was suggesting it was unethical to have a picture that might possibly describe your political views, on this board. And of course that is not unethical.
Trying to cause trouble, in my opinion..

Indeed, in good taste. But whose taste are we tasting?

I doubt it was ever intended to be a form of official identification. It is JUST the ability to put some sort of picture next to your name. Be it your own picture, or something that describes your personality in some way, or whatever else someone chooses. Nothing to do with ethics...
Lighten up.

No Chuck, you don't have to be a member, you can ask Fencer for one. It's a baseball cap, but it doesn't have the ridiculous plastic sizing that tears up after a while. It has a ...dang, i don't know what to call it, ... it's like what suspenders have...do you know what i mean? Anyway, that's how you get the cap to fit you head.... LoL! It will be in the store for you to see soon. Does this make sense? I've been working all day and i am POOPED!
