NOT a floosie

Sorry...I just have to laugh.

It's not like BBW or anyone else is getting any extra benefits from helping out the site.  They are doing it of their own free will, and time.  If there is anyone here that is a paying member and would like to help out the site in some way, feel free to let any of the Globals know.  There are always boards that come up that need moderators or co-mods.  We ask and ask sometimes and all we get are the people that have caused problems.  Obviously, they wouldn't be much help if they have already made enemies here and continue to attack them, or have their own little groupies that choose to prey on others.  Reasonable people are always considered when something opens up.

Well, I see over 50 thousand registered users, and less than .5% (yes thats half of 1%) are moderators or have any other functions that help out brainking.

Does Brainking have some flaw that only attracts unreasonable people to register here, or that attracts mostly unhelpful, selfish types of people?

I mean if BBW had removed himself from all moderating (except global) and he had to be re enlisted because of a lack of anyone else qualified, or lack of volunteers, what does that say for the 99.5% of the registered users who dont help out this site? Thats pretty depressing to me!

Czuch Czuckers: I think a better count would be what % of people who post to the public boards are moderators.

Many people are here to only play games and never read the boards. At this time, there has been only 92 people out of your 50,000 who have visited this board today.

Eriisa: Okay, I can be reasonable when I want to be.... Its Sunday, a generally slow day here on Brainking. lets say 200 people read this board?

Now, how many different people are board moderators? Are we up to 10% yet? probably not.
But I guess if it is as high as 10%, that isnt really so bad.

I will have to accept Floozie when she says that there just arent any good candidates available, I just wonder if thats because most people just dont care about the discussion boards? It seems like that is it, really.

Czuch Czuckers: yes, it is sad that there are not more people who are willing to moderate. Its a truly thankless job.

On the other hand, it's great that the boards are so much more pleasant than there were 2 years ago. Having to moderate someone has become the rarity instead of commonplace.

Eriisa: BTW, I must really be unique, because I thought it was an honor to be a moderator, and fun and had a hint of prestige as well! I didnt find it thankless at all, in fact, I found it rewarding, and an ego booster!

When I hear how thankless and unrewarding so many find it, I wonder why you would do it at all?

(BTW, I was not removed from moderating because of my ability to moderate, I was actually very good at it, it was because of my disagreeable insight that clashed with others opinions that got me booted!)

Czuch Czuckers: sorry, maybe that was tongue-in-cheek when I said it was thankless. Its only thankless and unrewarding when you have to moderate someone. Sometimes the person moderated takes it well, and understands, and other times, they don't.

Eriisa:  I like your use of the verb "moderate" in that sense.  You don't often hear it used that way, but it must be the original meaning.

But I always thought that a moderator of a meeting - uh .... moderates the meeting. lol !!!!
