I just got timed out on 6 games, an hour ago I had 14 hours on all the games. Very confused on what is happening to the system... & disappointed. Not sure what to do about it...

Bernice: I am not sure if any of them were, but it should not have changed from 14 hours to move to -4day. It is impossible to fix that on the users end...

tinksbell: Yesterday (or was it the day before) i got here to find i had 120 games ALL with the same time on and they were all timing out 35 minutes after i got here. I tried my best, but still had time outs

I presume this was something to do when the site was down the other day, i can not see any other way to end up with all those games having the same time

MadMonkey: Its particularly depressing as I was going to finally win some of those hard to win Pente & Keryo Pente games, they were in tournaments.

tinksbell: Did you happen to change your vacation days?
I got that, some time ago when I removed a vacation day from the end of my vacations. Many games of mine (the non Fischer clock ones) went suddenly from 3 days left to -8 or -9 days left. Since that day was already marked as a vacation day I ended up not timing up on any of those games, but I got quite a scare.

pauloaguia: I think the one that caused your problem is already fixed. This one is probably a consequence of the recent short downtime and BrainKing's automatic attempt to compensate the time loss.
Well, it's another thing to improve for the 3.0 version.
Anyway, it is always recommended to change vacation days after playing all games, not before.

Fencer: Better not name it 3.0, all releases named 3.0 tend to have so many bugs in them they have to be followed up by a 3.1 soon after. Notable examples are MS word, MS windows, Firefox. If I were a release manager I'd treat a 3.0 as a 13th floor, something to be jumped over

Czuch: It seems I learned that the hard way, but I was trying to get a little more time since the past week has been too hectic for me to keep up with everything... I would still think that adding vacation would not take away time... I think I would have been happier if all that time had not been added last week with the server down...

tinksbell: The thing that really gets to me, is that it is because of a few rotten apples that spoil things for the majority of players. My guess is that you had a legit reason to be doing what you did, but there are a few who use that as a tactic to purposely slow down the pace of their games?

Czuch: I also don't like it when people play with their vacation because they have "way too many games". If it is because of the few bad apples then I understand completely why it happened. Of course, I think I have too many with over 200. I try to keep it around 100 normally...

Czuch: I've noticed at least a player (that has two games of a team tournament against me), that has about 15 vacation days set up, and everyday he removes the nearest one, and adds another about three weeks ahead. This way, when he moves, instead of having 5 days per move, he has 25 days per move (and he has less than 50 games...).
I already sent Fencer a message telling him who the player is, but since there has been some problems with naming, players, here in the forum, I won't do it.
That message was sent yesterday when he had the days between 13th july and 31st july has vacation (and 17 vacation days left). He now has the days between 17th july and 4th august (and the same 17 vacation days left)

Unfortunately it is still possible to take advantage of the vacation system...

El Cid: Bruno, you needn't have hesitated to name me - I have no problem with it ;-)

As far as I know there is currently no rule that I have been breaking ... If there is any such rule, let me know and I will change my "moving policy" - it is only a kind of a protest to the current vacation rules! :D

Hexis: My point is exactly that, there is no such rule, and I understand that one should be able to remove vacation days, if you happen to regain access to the internet earlier than you expected.

What I'm trying to say is that there should be a way to prevent such an "abuse" with the vacation days (which I admit is a little better since the new "only buy 10 or 5 days of vacation"). However since there is no rule, and it's kind of an original way to protest, the only thing I can say is, at least increase the number of your games, since you don't have many problems with the "low" time controls

El Cid: I actually thought that known "loop hole" was one of the things recently fixed. I also would be interested in what Fencer says. (of course it will probable be don't worry about it, it will all change with the newer version of the system he is currently working with.)
