playBunny: hehe, you mean your as lazy as most of us? (myself included). I guess I have no life but the extra few seconds of clicking and navigating for "ratings to rules" really doesn't matter to me . . . however, the "game to rules" link is a must (especially when I can't remeber is a dog can eat a wolf in jungle, LOL).

Sujet: Re: Ratings and Rules
ColonelCrockett: To get to the game's rules it's necessary to 1) Scroll the Ratings page down so that the Games Rules link is visible, 2) Move the mouse there and click, 3) Wait for the games list to appear, 4) Hunt for the game in question (in a most disordered list), 5) Click the link.

Compare that to having a direct link right there in the Ratings page's header ...

I'm a one-click kinda guy. ;-)

How about a link to the Rules page on a game's Ratings page?

Sujet: Delete and go to next message.
In the message box, I think it would be nice to have a "Delete and go to next message" button. Currently when you delete, you go back to your inbox.
Then, when there is no "next" message it could take you to the main in-box..

Sujet: BKR Graphs
With a graph showing the last two weeks, for example, the line starts at the origin and goes to the BKR of the first game after the start date of the period being looked at. It would be nice if the line came from the position of the BKR point of the last game prior to the period.

Luke Skywalker: I would like to see practice boards. I think we are talking about very similar ideas. I'd like to have a link on every game page that would take me to a practice board with the current position set. Then I could move both sides ahead and back a few moves. I could do this now on a real board (if I had one), so there is really no strategical change to the game by providing practice boards, but it would make investigating key moves much easier, and therefore fun. And isn't fun what this site is really all about? ;-)

nobleheart: In a training game you'd also want to go back and try different variations; i.e. you should be able to takeback moves. In backgammon that also includes "what if the dice had been", therefore the ability to change them.
The ability to "play" (i.e. analyze) such a game against yourself would be nice.

WhiteTower: The three games that make up tavli were introduced to BK months ago but only those with at least Rook membership can play them. We've kept it a secret - a sort of surprise welcome for those that upgrade.
So, to find out if I'm telling the truth you're going to have to become a Rook.

Okay - I'm lying.

Let's say the date is set to 31st 10 2005 and I want it to go back a month. I change the month to 9 and hit [Submit]. Instead of giving me the previous month, it discovers that the 9th doesn't have 31 days and sets the range to the player's entire span. This loses any other date parts that I've set. It would be nice if it could be forgiving and just set the days to the last day of the specified month.

Fencer: I beg to differ. Here, in the FAQs, is the only place the word delete appears in the game deletion context, and there is no mention of paid-members-only availability. If it's supposed to be in Help, maybe it's in the missing contect to be added later?

Sujet: New Game
Can I ask if, when you define a new game, the type of game can be listed at the top of the screen such as on a page like this.

The reason is that in the chess DBs I want to put a link direct to this page for each game type, but when you go here you are not sure you are actually on the right page. I expect others could use this too.

Cheers WQ :)

Fencer: Ah, I did not realize that pawns couldn't delete games. I figured it had something to do with being a Gothic Chess game. Thanks for solving the mystery for us, Fencer.

Sujet: Re: deleted game message
Thad: It was deleted by myself in the database [on his request] because pawns cannot delete games and it was a game of gothic chess which would be deleted anyway as of 1st January. With 30 days per move, there was no chance to finish it.
In other cases, a notification message is always sent.

Sujet: Re: suggestion
Nothingness: Pente has the same problem. Player 1 has an advantage. It's not a big deal between average players, but with two masters, P1 ill almost always win. I usually post two-game matches when I post new games. This negates the edge. I end up with a lot of splits, and I only earn (lose) BKR points for one win (loss), when I win (lose) both but that doesn't bother me. You could do the same with the games you mention.

15. Octobre 2005, 06:31:44
Nothingness
Sujet: suggestion
perhaps sweetening the stakes(ratings points) for games that people are reluctant to play certain sides. Many players will not play certain colors in certain games such as horde chess (black), phaTum(black), Maharajah Chess (white), these are a few examples. If there was a way to encourage players to play with these colors it might make for the games being played more often. the only way woudl seem to be offering more points for a win to play with those colors, or to give less points if you chose to play with the strong colors.

I think an opponent of mine has deleted a game (which is ok), but I would like to have gotten a message from the system telling me that it happened.
