BIG BAD WOLF: agreed..it is too long..same reason I dont like go games...as for shortening froglet.how about borrowing an idea from atomic chess....make atomic froglet.
Mr B: There is also an option to put a "Message for opponent" in games you put in the waiting room. I would put a note in there about something of accepting only 1 game or something - most will respect your wishes if they know about it.
a feature i'd like to see added to fellowships is the ability to create polls for fellowship members like you can in yahoo groups, and for the big boss to be able to decide who can create polls - big boss only, big boss and managers only, or everybody.
Argomento: Past Game's "Who's Online" Notification
Modificato da OptimistMB (19. Aprile 2005, 13:30:50)
Each of us has a page where we see who we've played and the outcome of each game. Looking down that list is a good reminder of games that were challenging and partners who were interesting to talk to. It would be nice if this page had the little "who's online" green dots next to the names so we could see who might be immediately available for a game or two on a slow day.
Would it be possible to temporarily have members of your fellowship teams "sit out" for a tournament? Like, perhaps, field your top 4 players and have the others "take a rest"? :)
EdTrice: The captain choose the required number of players from the the team when signing up for a tournament. The rest of the players are still members of the team, but are "sitting out".
The Friends list has a way to add a description to each friend (which is lost if you remove them from the friends list). This feature needs to be on the "Blocked users" list also.

some players with rook status can just essentially wait out a person forever with unlimited vaction time. im in a game where my opponent hasnt moved in over a week. on a 5 day limit per move. i suggest that you can only use auto vaction 1 time in a particlur game. or you must use up 7 days automatically. its this make 1 move wait 5 days then auto vacition 1 move then wait 5 days thatn auto vacation.ive been playing my opponent for about 3 weeks and still only on move 3.
three weeks on a 5 day time limit could be on move 3 without using any vacation, remember to add 2 days per week for weekends. thus a 5 day move can be a 7 day move
It is my understanding that When an auto vacation day is used, it essentialy extends the timeout date by 24 hours (1 day). If I have one game that uses an auto vacation day, does this effectivly add another day to ALL of my games?
I would like to see a max of consecutive auto vacation days be limited to the original "Time per move". For example, it the game was set up with 3 days per move, then the most consecutive auto vacation days used would be 3. After which you would lose on a time-out.
I understand that vacation days are there to be used, but is it really fair to ues them all against an opponent?
Summertop: i dont see the problem of a total maximum of 30 days to be added ... thats just 6 weeks .. in total .. and the opponent probably doesnt want to use all of them at once (except in december) as he wont have anything left for the rest of the year
i only used 4 so far .. and i really needed them as i was in austria snowboarding .. it would have been bad if i only could have used 2 in my 2 day games
Summertop: No, Fencer changed it awhile back so it does not act like a "vacation" day where an extra day is added to all games.
It is now a "no-timeout" day - and that will only add 24 hours to games that time out during that day. (so if you have 2 games ready to time out, one at 11:40pm, and the other at 1:05am the next day - it will take 2 so-called vacation days to make sure these do not time out.)
I believe Fencer likes the idea of only being able to use 4 or so auto-vacation days at a time, but just not put into place yet.
BIG BAD WOLF, Thanks.
I would like to hear Fencer's opinion/plans but there are times when he is just too busy to respond to small things like this. I don't like limiting it to a hard coded value. I really like it being based on the "Time per move". If there is only one day per move, using 4 auto vacation days is too many, if there is thirty days per move, go ahead and use all thirty vacation days. In essence, you could sacrifice vacation days to double the time per move...
BIG BAD WOLF: So autovacation would be useless for folks like me who play a massive number of games (currently in 60 but could imagine myself in many more than that). The first 30 games would get a one day free pass but the rest would crash and burn and if I'm out for two days I lose them all.
So if the game has a 3 day limit and you went on vacation after 2 days, when you come back there is still only one day left. This is how autovac should work.
Also autovac shouldn't be allowed if the player has logged in that day in my opinion, that invalidates the reason (emergency etc). If you're playing too many games timeouts are a fact of life.

someone on the Feature Discussions board asked me to elaborate on how my idea for polls in the fellowships and discussion boards might work, and this is what came of that:
i'm thinking polls would appear on a separate page that was a sort of subpage of a fellowship's main page or its discussion board pages. in each fellowship there would be a link to the polls section, which would take the user to another page dedicated to polls and on which any polls that have been created for the fellowship appear. people would go there to vote in the polls and to create them or close them (provided they have sufficient privileges, of course).
polls could be a help to the big boss in choosing directions in which to take Her fellowship. finding out what the members want in there and stuff.
as regards privileges for the creation, editing, and closing of polls, my thought was that it would be for the big boss of the fellowship or the moderator of the discussion board to decide whether everyone could create, edit, and close polls, or only managers and the big boss/mod, or just the big boss/mod.
and i'm thinking that voting in the polls would work like it does in yahoo groups (and most other places that feature polls) in that you see the current poll results only after you've voted on that poll yourself.
a given poll might also be editable and closeable only by its creator...but then that raises the question of what happens if someone who created a poll leaves BK without closing the poll. we'd need a way for Those Left Behind to rid themselves of the thing if they wanted to...
i notice players log in when they are on auto vaction. you should be locked out from making any moves. If you do move your auto vacation should be suspended. Some people stall in tourneys so that they can see strategy. such as in 5line or espionage. you wait till those games are over then you can see tendencies and setups. By slowing the game down you can get a huge advantage.
This might be very difficult to implement, but it might be cool to have. In postal chess, there are so-called "conditional moves" that you can send. Essentially "if you go here, I go here" is sent with the move.
Maybe after you make a move, before you hit SEND, you can hit CONDITION. In so doing, you are allowed to make one move for the other side of the board, then hit a button, REPLY. At that point, it is your turn again, and you can make a move, then you hit SEND.
Your original move is sent, with no indication there is a conditional move attached. If your opponent makes the move you had specified with the condition, then your move is made instantly and automatically, and it is your opponent's turn to move again.
EdTrice: That would be a good addition. For me, it's nothing I would ever use in Chess - but for many of the line games, I can see the winning game moves many moves before the end - and can usually map out what the opponent will do, and my move in advance.
EdTrice: Yeah, and it would even be better if you can make a "permanent conditional": do an automatic pass if I can't play in backgammon, or when I lose the initial roll.
Suggested feature: Pick the top BKR in each game type and declare them,"BrainKing's World Champion" Give then a special icon beside their name so everyone will know who they are at all times and there for receive the honor and recognition that they so rightly deserve?
I just noticed when I went to accept one of Bry's games in the waiting room that because the games are grouped together, I cannot choose either Black or White if he has both options in multiple games.
Is there a way around this?
