plaintiger: After adding the person to your friends, go to the friends list and there should be a padlock symbol next to the name. Click on it to add/remove public friends (you'll need to wait for permission from them).

plaintiger: Somehow, someway, this explanation should be added to the site in a way easily findable by users of Brain King.

I suggest adding it to "Tip of the Day", but anywhere intuitive should be good.

happyjuggler0: I wholeheartedly agree. I looked for it in the help and the FAQ before I posted here, but there's nothing. the help entry for "Friends" is completely blank!
