The addendum to my last post is you may bet correctly and STILL get beaten on ONE hand, TWO hands, even MANY hands. BUT, over time you will begin to notice that you are making more money with these plays than if you had not made them. Playing a hand perfectly and getting all of your money taken is why we have a saying:

"That's Poker".

As a poker player myself, I have witnessed many river "miracles".

The problem with statistics is there is ALWAYS a chance that someone will get a card to beat you. If you have the lead at the flop, you must BET like you have the lead. Failing to do so allows for someone to take odds that are favorable to beat you.

For instance, if someone has four cards to a flush on the flop (two clubs in the hole, two on the board), there is ALMOST a 1 in 4 chance they will make their flush on every card. Therefore if you think you are AHEAD and you have multiple opponents, you must bet MORE than 1/2 of the total pot to DENY them the correct odds (if you bet 1/2 they will have 1 to 3 odds, plus the potential to make more money off of you, easy to call). If you are NOT betting correctly, people will stay in the hand, they will beat you, and you will complain.

Although I don't like people of you type (who try to tell me what I should do and go crazy if I don't) but, what the hell, hopefully you will understand this explanation:

1) Our poker model had been thoroughly tested many times and nobody every complained about any unusual behaviour. Yes, some people reported that they cannot see they hole cards etc., but that's just a common problem of browser based applications (Javascript). The model itself works correctly, always shuffles the card deck before dealing and the cards are always random. When I mentioned that sometimes in the future I would rewrite the model, I referred to the client side because the current Javascript table had been used mostly as an experiment, not a flawless and full featured engine.

2) Have you ever tried to play on, say, PokerStars or any other major poker site? The number of fish players that continuously complain about unfair conditions and "that moron always completes his straight" or "there is a miracle river card every second hand" is enormous, yet nobody does anything about it. Why? Because it is just a poor excuse for a bad play or misunderstanding of basic poker nature. Read discussion forums, you might learn something.

3) If you don't like poker on BrainKing, please go and play elsewhere. Our site is focused mostly on turn based games and if I occasionally experiment with other technologies, it does not mean that I am prepared to spend every free moment on fixing them. It is my site and I have my own priorities.

mook53lhd: what he is saying (I believe) is that if something is "up" with YOUR cache, it could be causing you to see something that "isn't really there". Or something that was there... A computer person (which I'm not) can probably explain better, but it isn't an uncommon problem.

i saw a msg stating that now you know how to set up the game properly . inferior players are winning on set ups . calling hands& big bets with a 38 & ending up with a flush .too many pairs on board & open end straights. but worst of all are the setups you programmed in . giving a guy 3 fours & a guy who stayed in with nothing a gut river straight. this happens far too often .i suggest you watch some poker on TV & see the cards that come out in real life. the best card players are not winning as much as they should ...maybe that's the handicap you set up??????????????/anyhow its time you modernized the game even if you have to shut down for a day or 2. i've heard this lament from many a player. this isn't personal of course .just read where you say you know how to properly program the game now . please do ASAP mook53lhd PS or when you can of course tyvm

cool, I will be anxious to see the changes, and maybe a few full tables. Hopefully it happens this winter, cuz thats usually when I play the most!

Fencer: yes do that little thing now that you know. tyvm too .even if you have to shut down a day to do it. guys staying in with 37 pulling straights ,or 4 same suit on flops too often,also way too many pairs . try to make pulling hands indicative to the odds of getting them . i mean forget about filling open end straights .it just don't happen more than 1% of time. the way the cards are coming out players are staying in with terrible cards knowing they still might beat anybody thats in.maybe the stakes on the little tables should be 25-50 to keep out pretenders who go in with garbage .even pre flop bet with same. perhaps your fixing rng & the stakes will create truer to life games. i'm not in any way criticizing just saw the post & wrote what i was thinking early on a sun. morning. i think it was great that you even figured out what we have .so i know you can improve on it mook53lhd

beadle: sounds good to me .also they need to change the random hand generator . the patterns of the board cards needs fixing. also i think you should be able to hold your chair if nature calls etc say 10 min marker. otherwise you come back & you've lost your seat. yes beadle eliminate all but the no limit games ,which is what holdem is all about. maybe more players would gravitate over. who knows? what else you got? mookster

beadle: I will probably rewrite poker from scratch because it is not well coded anyway. I didn't know too much about online poker when I had created it. Now I do.

Why doesn't BK just get rid of the limit tables, and advertise the no limit tables a little more, then maybe we could fill up some tables? Just a suggestion.

Maybe someone can ask Fencer to encrease the highest bets in the highest table. Now it is 5000/10000 chips table. I guess a number of players would be pleased to see a table with 50000/100 000 chips table...

"A" can be seen as the highest as well as the lowest card ( "1" ) , but there isn't such a thing as a loop.

In the rules here at brainking I read
"Straight (e.g. K-Q-J-10-9)"

Question: Is " 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - A " or " 3 - 2 - A - K - Q " also a straight? Or can't I 'connect' 2 and A ?
