It seems that every email program and even here on the dicussion boards, the first button on the left is the reply button.
But on the message box, the first button is previous. Can you guess how many times, I click 'previous' instead of 'reply'? LOL To me, I think 'reply' on the left, 'previous' & 'next' in the middle, and 'delete' on the right would make more sense....
when looking at prevoius moves in battleboats , then try to make a move you cant without having to goto the main page and reselecting the game again , not sure if you are aware of this .
I cant remember if this has been brought up lately, but since Fencer has been in an accomadating mood lately, here goes again :)
I am trying to play my games with opponents who are online, and there is no easy way. I can think of several different ways to help me out. Can something be implimented?
In games (like Loop Chess), I can add a note that only I can see. This usefull for keeping track of stratagies.
1. I used to be able to add a note when submiting my move. Now I have to do it before I start moving or find the game on the main page and add it there. I would like this feature back.
2. Can an option be created that will let me decide where I want the note shown when I am making a move. Currently I have to scroll down to see it (or even to see if I have one). I would like to see my personal notes listed above the game board.
Next to fellowships in my list of fellowships is a red number representing the number of new posts. I can click this number to go to the message board (very nice, fencer). It would be easier if the paranthesis were also part of the link.
Fencer, terriffic about the green dot! I don't know if this is asking too much, but could the dot also follow the opponent's name on the drop down box? (Move and go to) (Kind of like how the asterik is there for the games that are part of tournaments)
I like playing people who are currently online, and this would make life GREAT!!!
:-D
Onderwerp: A feature request for blots on the bar- Crowded Backgammon
I would like the blots to be placed differently or mark or colored different. As the game goes along and my opponent sends me to the bar, it just heaps them altogether. Only thing is, they play differently. Some can kick it, while the new arrivals have to get off the bar right away. Can be very annoying not being able to easily tell one from the other. Is this just me, or does anyone else have a problem with the drunk blots pestering the sober ones?
Onderwerp: Re: A feature request for blots on the bar- Crowded Backgammon
yes, i agree, i keep trying to move and it won't let me, and then after a few tries i realize that i must be on the bar, there's is no way of knowing that.
Onderwerp: Re: A feature request for blots on the bar- Crowded Backgammon
i'm also finding BB+ confusing, it said i had 3 boats left, but i had 5 shots, then 1 game said i had 4 boats left and i got 3 shots, and there's no way of knowing what boats are sunk unless you go back a few moves. am i doing smething wrong? i've been playing this game for years on iyt, but i'm lost here.
Kithara: The system counts only moves made by paying members but I can add some more statistics like that in the future. It depends on what our database server is capable of under current heavy load :-).
Onderwerp: Re: A feature request for blots on the bar- Crowded Backgammon
That sounds like it'd work Fencer. We just need something to tip us off. Though I'd like to know how many blots my opponent has on the bar that must come off as soon as they can too. Helps one form a strategy about which move to make sometimes. It'd be a lot quicker than running the game backwards and trying to figure out what happened using the game graphics. That's why I mentioned using colors, or place captured blots slightly different. Perhaps it'd be easier to have the initial blots start with a different color or position and put the captured blots in their usual place or with their usual color. You could tag them somehow, and then remove the tag after they've been brought into play.
Is the ratings thing working correctly? I've noticed that it seems rather arbitrary with the points it gives and takes. If I'm 300 points ahead of my opponent, shouldn't he gain more than me if he wins? And lose less the me if he loses?
Also, I'm rated in Crowded Backgammon, even though I've only played three games. Mely is not listed on the provisional Dark Chess list even thugh he's played nine games and has a rating of 2284.
The 300 difference question comes from two game that "grenv" and I just finished.
Oh, is this the right posting board for these types of questions?
I had 690+ moves 2 days ago (almost past my 730 record) - but my wife made me leave and go with her somewhere so I could not make any more moves. :-(
.... and if I ever want to get over 1,000 - I think I'll need a team a friends who are all on at the same time making moves to get that high. (Don't want to tell you want I need to do to get over 2000!) :-)
Mely wrote to me today an interesting suggestion, which I want publish now (because of some language problems):
How,if we would add up our BKRs of all games to a cumulative number (named "Brainking"-number ).That means that the best general player is this person with the most points. The best player would be perhaps the "Brain King" :-).
In this way you can motivate the players to play every game as possible to have a BKR.My complete points for instance (Brainking-number) would be now ca 28.000 (the addition for all my BKRs).
Another suggestion could be to implement an "Brainking BKR" as average of all BKR`s,the player has.My "Brainking-BKR" as average of all my BKRs would be now 1866.
Comments?
<select sum(a.rating) as total_bkr, b.user_name from game_stats as a, player as b where a.id = b.id and a.game_counted >= 25 group by a.id order by total_bkr desc
