I did mean that sometimes you need to find posts from a particular person if complaints have been made about them.
Fair enough, if they were made just before you come online OK, but when a moderator comes on and has 200+ messages to check i think it would be handy to have.

I agree MM. I'd like to filter boards by "postee" name too. It just needs an extra search function on the right.

Just beside the "Message" box (the one you type a new message in) is a "Search in posts" box. You can type in any string you like to search all the posts for it. If you would like to search for a certain user, just type in their name. It'll return all of their posts plus any containing their name.

Edit: Ok, i just tried it and it doesn't find posts by that user, just posts with that user's name.

I would like Brainking to have the Alekhine Chess (or click here) game. It's a very fun Chess variant and i would like to have it here.........

Fencer how would you rate the difficulty of adding a new game to the site...? Would this take you 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 days, 5 months...??? I just want to see how difficult is to add a new game. And also can you give the probability of adding Alekhine Chess in the near future? I hope it's over 1% :-)

Or, you could use Hex! Then you'd only need one digit! lol :-)

what would be the possibilities of the following

at the "LOGOUT" button to be able to choose what you are going to do...

example.....click on BB5 button = be back 5 minutes.

GFD = gone for the day

synw = see you next week

hehehe I know it can be annoying when yu are playing multiple moves with someone and they dissapear...to be able to see BBL = be back later next to their name would be a great help

am I asking too much here and if so....ignore me :)

thanks

OF course, I'm still looking to play Ultima online somewhere. It was searching for Ultima three years ago that led me to It's Your Turn and then to this site. I believe the Chess Variants site has the rules for Ultima. I'll go look right now. Yes, they do have it and looks like they've updated it in the last year or so.
http://www.chessvariants.org/other.dir/ultima.html

I wish the people at Chess Variants used better graphics to represent the pieces. There's all hard to see and look strange, especially when compared to this site.

Anyways, there's my games to add wish list.
Still no Ultima, but I've learned lots of new games in the meantime. :)

<1. let you see all the "New" messages at once before the "New" disappears when you click the '>' link
2. let you read the whole board and let your mouse rest at the same time
3. test the browser's hability to handle such a big page
4. test how fast the server can serve pages and how fast you can receive them
5. being online, while seeming offline to everyone else if you plan on reading the whole 12000 lines

I'd like to see longer user names here and the ability to use characters other than a-z, A-Z, & 0-9. I wanted to change my name from "Thad" to "Thad (Mele Kalikimaka)", which is Hawaiian for Merry Christmas, but I can't use parenthesis and it's too long. I don't really see a reason for either limit. Plus the longer name can be very useful. I've changed my name at other game sites to things like "Thad (gone for the weekend)", "Thad (no more moves today)", etc.

I haven't read back to previous posts before I joined, so this has probably been addressed and I'm not aware of it. Would anyone else like to see on the game boards of Battleboats and it's variants the position of your opponent's ships at the end of the game? In some sites I used to play at, I could see them at the end of the game and found it helpful and also satisfied my curiosity, especially when I am looking a long time for that little boat. Is there a reason why it is set up as it is here?

I agree, Baddessi. I have had games where I found the first 4 ships early, then spent 15 or more moves, searching for the "2-holer"... I would like to be able to see where that bugger was, without having to ask.
I also wish I could see at a glance when my board comes back to my turn, the shots I took in the previous turn, highlighted on the board, before I start the turn.

Are you losing too many games, baddessi? LOL

I think the reason is that some players like to use the same set-up more than once if it has proven to be a winning one.

If the only justification is not to reveal the setup board then why is it that at Dark Chess the game is revealed in the end? Some players may also like to use the same oppening more than once if it has proven to be a winning one...
Not to mention Espionage type games...

Most players just won't bother to go through their opponent's old games to check for board setups anyway...

One of the main fun things about dark chess is to play through the game afterwards.

baddessi I think when the game is over you get a message that says your opponent has sunk all your ships. and there is a link to the game where you can see the last move or hits. (I think) lol

I agree with Amber - If you lose at Battleboats (whatever the variant) you shouldnt expect to see the winning hand...... You dont when you play Poker...... same principle......

5. december 2004, 04:51:56
ScarletRose
well heck.. even so who would use the same set up anyway?? If four boats are sunk.. they will obviously show up for anyone who does surf through old games of Battleboats.. so those that were hit are going to be easy to locate.. it just doesn't make any sense why it is like it is..

Onderwerp: re: battleboats
Amber- yes, I am losing too many games!!! You weren't supposed to tell, and all over that little stinker , the 2 boat!!!! LOL
RamblinMan, yes, you can see the finished game, but only the ships of your opponents that you have hit. You can't see where the ones you missed were. I understand what Amber's saying about the winner not having to reveal his strategy, that makes sense. I figured there was a reason for the set up that we have here, I just wondered what it was. And the reason I asked wasn't because I wanted to know the strategy of the winning board, but more for the reason rod said, that I spent 15 or more moves looking for the little bugger and want to know where it was!!!
