Snoopy: lmao...a dog is a dog....people like these ones are the reason dogs are becoming unstable...they are not being allowed to just be what nature intended...DOGS. People try to humanize them and that is one of the MOST unhealthy things you can do to it...if you truly love your dog,you will let it be what it is.
Can hardly believe the news story I just heard on a Detroit news program. A dog--obviously neglected by its owner--was reported being frozen to the sidewalk where it lived. It's doing okay, and has been taken away by the local Humane Society. (They got it loose with some warm water.)
Tuesday: My pom I named Idget.. but, I nicked named her Iggy Threadgood.. she looks up at me as though I am crazy when I say.. To Wanda!! LOL
I also tell her she is a wittle dog.. not a leader dog.. but, a wittle dog.. haha.. it's something that you have to be here I think to get the full undetstanding of it.. she gets all happy and starts to do spins.. and waggy her tail..
Tuesday: After having to give up puppies for years due to renting.. I decided years ago I wouldn't get another dog till I bought my own house.. and I always said it would be a golden retriever .. I was given Iggy on New Years Day in 2006.. I have had her in my life for 3 years.. and I am so glad someone opened my eyes up to the smaller breed dog.. (Not as messy, and doesn't tear up the back yard) She also misses me when I am gone and greets me when I first get home.. it's awesome..
Assunto: I held my two girls extra close when this news hit

OSHAWA, Ont. - Animal protection workers are mourning the loss of at least 160 cats which perished early Wednesday in a fire east of Toronto. Firefighters, who were called to the Durham Humane Society in Oshawa, Ont., just after 2:30 a.m., arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames. Emergency workers entered the building and rescued nine dogs, two cats and one rat, but scores of other animals succumbed to smoke inhalation, said Durham Region police. "It's tragic that so many animals lost their lives so close to the holidays, where there was probably a good chance some of them would have found homes," said Ian McConachie, a spokesperson for the Toronto Humane Society. McConachie said the workers, volunteers and supporters of the Oshawa facility are very emotional and distraught following the loss. "It's always sad to lose an animal, to lose almost 200 is just unthinkable," he said. Alison Cross, a spokesperson for the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, called the event "devastating." "Their life's work is towards animals and helping animals and unfortunately this tragic fire has destroyed that," she said. "They spend their lives taking care of these animals and something like this is really heartbreaking to see and hear." The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which hasn't yet been determined, said police. The surviving animals were first taken for treatment at a Whitby, Ont., animal hospital and are now being housed at Oshawa Animal Services Clinic. Investigators are still tabulating the exact number of cats who died. The Ontario SPCA, which is affiliated with the Oshawa facility, will assist with cleaning up, removing and properly disposing of the dead cats' bodies. It will also help the branch become operational again. Cross said the society will be following up with the fire investigations team. "We definitely look to preventing this in the future, because animal protection is our number one priority and we never want to see anything like this again." In August 2006, the Ontario SPCA's Midland and District Branch was destroyed in a fire caused by a lightning strike. More than 30 animals were saved, while 29 perished. A subsequent fundraising campaign saw a new $1-million facility built as a result. Damage to the Oshawa building is estimated at $250,000. The Ontario SPCA is accepting financial donations at 1-888-ONT-SPCA ext. 323 or via www.humanedurham.com.

Jim Dandy: Santa Anita a recent "hot spot":
Two more horses broke down and were euthanized over the weekend at Santa Anita, bringing the number of fatalities from racing or training to seven since the meet's traditional Dec. 26 [2008] opening.
The issue has remained heated with the ongoing controversy over the introduction the last two years of mandated synthetic tracks at Santa Anita, Del Mar and Hollywood Park.
Tuesday: wow..where to start on THIS one,lol...first off,if the girl was on the fence enough to look OVER it then she was on private property as fences must be a cetain ways off the property line.Second, the dog was doing what a dog does, protecting its own,Third....I trained 2 pitbulls over the summer, the male tried to bite (not nip, full out BITE me) 4 times within the first 10 minutes of meeting me,he and his sister had issues,to long and to many to go into right now,but after only 3 months of me working with them, the male was my best bud at the end of our time together and was trying to crawl into my lap for hugs. Everyone here knows that I have GSD's....BOTH are trained,Damien holds 4 titles to date,I could FREE HEEL him through a group of 20 of you and he wouldn't even acknowledge you,but come up to my fence and stick a finger through it..I dare ya. Why do people do stupid things and then want to blame others.UGH!
Last call for a new mod for this board. I will be stepping down by the weekend and if you are interested, contact a global near you. There's not much to do on the board as it pretty much runs itself. If no one steps up, a global moderator will have to take over.
Tuesday: there are a couple reasons they sya dogs do that..one is a mineral deficancy (she on a one a day vitamin?) another they say is because it is a learned behvior from watching the mother dogs clean up the den (or whelping box, lol) and yet another is that when dogs are in the wild, they will alot of times eat theirs and other dogs in their pacts feceses so other animals don't know they are in the area as easily. I would defianatly scoop everytime kitty goes :)
