WinterAngel: You couldn't have checked correctly. There are Hawaiian Checkers games on each set of stairs on that link. (Except the "cubed" stairs of course, as those are only backgammon games) Once you click the link he provided, you then click on the type of stairs with the time controls that you like. You will see a list which includes every single game Brainking offers. You then join the stairs for that game, and choose someone to play.

Ändrat av Gabriel Almeida (12. februari 2009, 14:30:55)

MrWCF: This rule also exist in other variants, like in Portuguese checkers, and it does matter, sometimes. The question is that you can only jump once over each piece, in your move. To guarantee that you respect this, the "mechanism" is that the jumped pieces are only removed in the end of your move. If pieces were removed just after jumped, you would be ignoring that rule.

I don't know if I was clear: the question is not the piece taked (jumped) twice. The question is that a taked (jumped) piece works like a "wall" - that's the spirit of that rule!

Ämne: Question About the Rules of International Checkers
In International Checkers, enemy pieces jumped over are not removed until the entire move is completed.
Why is that?  Since pieces may only be jumped over once, why not remove them as you jump over them.  I could understand if you could jump over a piece more than once; then it would make sense not to remove it until the move was completed.
Can someone explain the logic behind this rule?

how come some folks, 'badger', can declare draws? why isn't it automatic as per the professional rules?

Because misunderstandings can occur......I am too stubborn to resign an obvious draw against someone who is so small minded to not accept one. I resent the insinuation that the game on gt is anything more than that.

John Toomey, you are right. And IYT it's not the only place where it happens: in REAL LIFE (well, I'm talking in classic checkers case), those are "draw rules" wich are described and used. And some other rules are available (Once again, I'm talking in classic checkers): with 3 queens, one of them in the "main central line" (We call it "the river", in Portugal) Vs 1 queen, you have only 12 moves to win the game. Or if you have 2 queens and a pawn, Vs 1 queen, you have 20 moves to move your pawn, or it is a draw.

Ämne: The draw debate
haven't had much of a problem with 'irksome' folks not conceed draws here. But how come the game doesn't automatically declare a draw when the same board position is repeated three times? that's how it works on its your turn, and that seems a very reasonable system.

david upshaw: I offered a draw in January of 2002. He refused. Rules of the game say one can only offer a draw once. He waits til the last minute before he's to time out then he moves the game. He has timed out the maximum number of times allowed. That game is the only reason I still visit that site.

What? 7 years? Thats crazy. lol. Are either of you asking for a draw?

I used to play on Goldtoken, but like this site so much better.

A draw may be obvious to the whole world but if one player refuses there is usually no justifiable recourse. Fencer intervened and that is admirable. Apparently that is NOT the case on Goldtoken where a game of checkers between NLStardust (me) and 3334 has been tediously played for almost 7 years.

Undertaker.: Yes. For your BKR, we can easilly understand it is a draw. Sometimes a player can loose the game for is "hunger", so... I think Manuel M is right, you just have to repeat your moves, and then ask Fencer to draw the game. And, if Brady really wants to win it... well, just wait to see what he'll do to win it. Sometimes this is a good way to YOU to win it. Someone that tries to win always take more risks... defending it's easier. Take this advantage. Just remember: HE wants to win it, not you. So... it's "stupid" if it is you to take the risks, just to force it to accept the draw.

Good game! ;)

I agree that players should be willing to accept a draw or conceed when they're defeated. Once the outcome is obvious, its disrespectful to drag it out. Unfortunately some players aren't skilled enough to know when its obvious.

I also think there are some exceptions. There are times when I knew I was beaten and played longer than necessary. I just wanted to see how a better player would handle the end game. It was a learning experience.

Hi everybody.

I'm playing with Brady and he thinks that can win this game: Checkers (Brady vs. Undertaker.)

It's obviously a draw but he doesn't believe and refuse my offer to draw. Can anyone tell him this is a draw?

Thanks!
