Stevie: I guess you don't get the real purpose of support. It's mainly about to help the site itself, not to expect personal advantages out of it. Everything is on a volunteer basis and who doesn't want to accept it, should not do it.

why do you constantly attack Fencer when something new happens that you dont like?
It is getting very tiresome yawnnnnnnnnnn

I think it is a good idea what he has done. I run prize tournies and you dont see me acting like a spoilt brat not getting what I want !!!

Grow up and let go. It doesnt have to worry you.

why do you make an issue of this all of a sudden now?
Seems you were quite content until you found out that someone had offered to donate 10 Euro per month extra to have a golden rook.
This is substantially more than a couple of prize tourneys here and there.

It leads one to ask, why did you run prize tourneys in the first place? what was your goal?

I currently have one running with 2 6 month rook memberships and I have already paid the cost of the memberships to Fencer. You dont see me getting all flstered about this do you?

Subject: ridiculous notions about losing a few members?
nope, losing their future support for getting nothing out of helping you, except ignorance the rest of the time

12. September 2004, 20:47:45
LongJohn
too many would detract from the meaning and make it futile to be a part of it.
One or 2 different levels only would be a more suitable idea I would think

12. September 2004, 20:47:20
Stevie
Fencer, you are talking crap also now.
My problem is not against the likes of bad bishop for doing what he is, or for harley etc for getting what they want, nor features i dont like as you put it.
I like it, but YOU NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE OTHERS WHO ARE/HAVE AND WILL HELP YOU

Bringing back an idea that I had a long time ago - different "color" type icons to show different support level. (Since if Money is what is needed for this site, some will donate extra money just to get an extra little symbol next to their ID)

You could have Red rooks, blue rooks, bronze, silver, gold, or even a cool multi color rainbow rook -- all meaning different extra support for this site.

12. September 2004, 20:40:02
Fencer
Stevie: Have you even noticed that every time I release a new feature you don't like, you come with your ridiculous notions about losing a few members? Maybe you could just ignore it.

fencer has an alternate good idea
5 bucks a month for Silver. That sounds fair to me

12. September 2004, 20:37:05
Stevie
well you wont mind losing a few members who feel they support the site for absolutely sod all then

12. September 2004, 20:34:24
Fencer
No. It has nothing to do with donations, Brains, prize tournaments etc. Bad Bishop has come with this idea and offered the price, I've accepted it. In order to make it fair to him, the conditions should be similar for everyone.

12. September 2004, 20:31:06
Stevie
my reasoning behind that is....
you get refered by new member, you get brains
you donate or pay for prizes you get nothing, so maybe the icon change should be used there also

12. September 2004, 20:29:13
Stevie
so why were we not informed of the gold rook?

So those who have done prize tournies in my eyes should get that for suporting the site

12. September 2004, 19:44:57
coan.net
Wow, I did not even know about the Golden Rooks

And I just noticed if you put your mouse cursur over the "Rook" or icon next to a persons name, it will show where they are from, and if they are Male or Female.

Ratings are funny, look at the number of games considered then add up the broken down games, the totals rarely match.

Subject: rating position query
Modified by Niki (12. September 2004, 16:27:16)
I am listed as 94th in the 5 in line ratings, yet at the top of the page it says I'm in position 103, and it also says that on my main page. Any idea why please?
*edit* hmm, interesting, when I look at page 1 of ratings, position is 103, when I 'go to this page' it again says position 103, but ofcourse I'm not there.. then when I look at page 2 where I'm in the correct position, it does actually say the correct position at the top of the page too !?!

If I could make a suggestion. Have who ever created them resave then in their graphics program using the darkest colour on the checker board as a background colour, then they wont have such a bright white chunky edge around them.. Just my 2 cents.

They will be fixed later. The best quality is 90x90, of course, because they are the original pictures.

the captured pieces in checkers still show up with the old set (a pawn, a king, etc) not the new round pieces...
At least I still get the pawns, up there... or maybe it's a cache thingie (I've refreshed the page severall times already).
