THE HIT MAN: If a tournament is set at say 1500BKR and below to sign up, a player can only sign up who is 1500 and below. However if that tournament starts weeks later, and that player has moved to 2000, they will still be included. It's up to the creator of the tournament to remove anyone from the tournament before it starts if they are over 1500.
In addition, if you let unrated players sign up, after 4 completed games they may also be over 1500 BKR.
If the rounds at IYT go for a bit, and someone asks the owner there to end the tournament instead of starting new rounds, it is done. Otherwise, the computer there will continue to make new rounds forever.
Is it just me, or in the hyper team tourney currently running, do the games in which the two fellowships that have been deleted, seem to not be continuing?

SunFire: BeaverBoy brought it up, then he and shagglbrox accused me of being wrong. Obviously my last post proved that I was right. But perhaps we can close the book on IYT now.
The bottom line is that ties are ok, if a game, match, or tournament is played to a tie, but not when the tying players never face each other. Also, if a tournament is co-won, there should be something indicating so.
Thad: No offense Thad, but the rules at IYT state there can be ties for sections, but:
"When all games in all sections are completed, the players who scored highest in their sections advance to the next round, where they are placed in new sections. The process repeats until there is a single champion for each game type within a tournament."
There was a Keryo tourney I saw there went 10 rounds, the last 6 or 7 or which were between just 3 guys, but a winner finally emerged. Ask "Steve (who sometimes waits until round 10 to lose)"
Anyway, who cares, that's IYT - I agree with your point though, ties suck - maybe Fencer could allow an option (like time limit options) to set whether a tourney can end in a tie or not?
Some tournaments end in a tie but I think there is always a winner.
I was in one that just ended and it was a three way tie but because I had the lowest BKR of all of us it gave me the win of the tournament :o)
BeaverBoy: You are wrong, Beaverboy. Tournaments at ITY do not always go until there is a winner. I know there are tournaments listed in their history that have two winners. If I knew the date of one, I would post it here, but offhand, I do not. I will try and go back and find one when I get a chance so you'll have proof.
PS: 3 rounds with just 2 players ain't any big deal. I've gone nine rounds there more than once. And I know I've gone at least five with just one other player. ;-)
Thad: True Thad, sometimes there is a tie.
But I think the point is, they keep going until it is 1 against 1.
Having two winners in a tourament is kinda pointless though when they havent even had the chance to play a round with just the 2 of them dont you think?
Fencer: An extra round or two would be better than an automatic tie. Ties are ok, but not when there hasn't been any attempt at all to break it. In my case, partica & I never faced each other in the tournament we were co-winners of. That is a travesty. We should have faced each other AT LEAST once before a tie was declared.
Doesn't seem like it would happen that often though..
I just hate ties! LOL...
I wasn't taking into consideration more than 2 people involved in the tie.. The 2 win match to break the tie, obviously wouldn't work in situations with 3 or more people..
rod03801: If you have a round with only 1 section containing 4 players (for example) and all of them would be the winners, the next round would be exactly the same.
I agree. I hate tournaments ending in a tie..
Why would they be endless? Wouldn't it be possible to have those people remaining play a 2 win match to decide? (I think the 3 win matches when there are only 2 people, are too much)
Nothingness: I do not believe that there is a way to get into another Espionage tourney, since you are still in your current one, other than upgrading to a rook. ;-)
(hide) If you want to play a game with an opponent of a similar level, you can define a required BKR range for a new game invitation. Then nobody with a BKR outside this range will be able to see/accept it. (Katechka) (show all tips)
