Can someone tell me if a tournament will not accept more players signing up when the maximum number of players is reached, even if the last day to sign-up has not been reached?

Hrqls was asking for people to join a 5 in Line team ~ send me a message or join Nooks and Crannies and join the relevant team there.
We have 6 players and need at least 6 more please.
12 players per team, at least 4 teams to start the tournament, at least 48 players needed to start that tournament. Currently 352 rooks and above. Minus the rooks and above which are not active, you get 335. Most knights that play in team tournament are probable already on a team, so probable will not be able to join this one. So basicly, about 15% of the active available players, or about 1 out of 7 rooks and above will have to join to make this tournament possible.
(and if you remove the rooks and above who are not even in any fellowships, that will also change the numbers.)
Oh yea, it was not my idea in case anyone was wondering. :-)
Argomento: 12 players...you must be joking Fencer????

Luisifer is organising a prize tournament - the prize being a maharajah membership!
His idea is to get several members of the Czech community here to donate an amount of money each, which will pay for the prize.
I'd like to organise a similar tournament among UK/US players. Right now a 6 month maharajah membership is around £415, or $798.
A 12 month membership would be £692 or $1,331.
If anyone is interested in donating towards this tournament, please send me a message. This isn't to commit yourself, I just need to know the level of interest.
Ideally if we could get about 40 people interested in donating about £17 each, we could offer up a 12 month maharajah prize.
Or if 40 people could give £10 each, it could be a 6 month maharajah membership.
Send me a message if you would like to donate towards this tournament. No obligation right now, you can change your mind later - I just want to know the number of people who might be interested.
Thanks to both, I will create the start date for just after New Years and send money order to customer representative as soon as correct P.O Box is confirmed by Erissa.
Team Tournaments are coming up soon.
Red Squirrel History Group and Nooks and Crannies are looking for players for teams, please.
If anyone would like to join either or both fellowships please do so ~ you will be most welcome.
bwildman: There is a difference between "team" and "team tournament" :-) Everybody can be in only one team of the same game type but rooks can play any number of team tournament in this team.
*nod* i noted the players in a team played the players of the other teams sorted by bkr .. was a nice way to have a suggestion of my bkr while i was unrated :)
Hrgls, the captain picks the team he/she wants. They could be the best accordinging to bkr or they could be unrated. The system doesn't automatically pick the 'best' players. It's the captain's choice.
Then the system sorts those team players according to bkr so the best from one team will play the best from the other teams... and so on down through the players.
I see your point BBW, it would just simply mean more players could play if we could enter 2 teams. I feel sorry for your 8 and my 4. They could go find another fellowship, but then you lose players from fellowships you have been running for a while. The other alternative is to say do 10 players and have a big tournament with many players and less teams....?
.... My fellowship has 14 active players that are on the Backgammon team able to sign up... 8 will be left out. :-(
But I already said how I felt about multiply teams - just think the "power" fellowship will end up dominating. But if it were to happen, I would be happy to field 2 teams! :-)
Fencer - I have 10 players in my BG team. 4 will be left out. That is why my suggestion of 2 teams would mean the bigger fellowships could probably scrape 2 teams of 5, and the smaller fellowships would still just be able to enter one team of 5. What does everyone else think?
Wow - only 4 player teams for the Backgammon team - most popular game on the site! There are going to be a lot of different teams (and probable some people left without teams) :-(
Lets see..... Lets make other suggestions for team tournaments:
Crowded Gammon (6 player team)
Halma 8x8 (4 player team)
Line4 (5 player team)
Crazy Screen Chess (4 player team)
