WhiteTower: yes I understod. just thinking back to the original idea more then 2 player games. And then limiting to must be playable in a rectangualr grid.

Even risk could be played on a rectangular grid if you drew up a similar map with lines connecting points instead of actual country boarders.

WhiteTower: In the end it's just a system of accepting mouse clicks on certain images. The hard part is not the image map itself, but the fact that every possible board layout would need to be implemented, instead of every combination for a particular square. For this reason I think we need a board that can be drawn by joining parts.

Perhaps turning the board slightly to align the hexigons, and then making the "active" part of each square in the middle? Or something like that.

grenv: I have seen CGI applications that will generate images on the fly. This could be used to make up the board. Another option is break each box down into smaller parts so you are on a rectangular board with only a few pieces being part of each players.

Would make it reletively easy to implement and low picture combinations.

Modificato da coan.net (12. Dicembre 2005, 04:48:10)
mctrivia: If I were to make a multi-player (more then 2) version of Battleboats:

  • One big board - maybe 15x15
  • All players pieces goes on the SAME board
  • The computer randomly places ALL pieces on the 1 board. (Player can not place them since 2 players might accedently place a piece in the same space.)
  • The more players, the less pieces that can fit on the board - so maybe something like one "4 long", two "3 long", and two "2 long" pieces for each player.
  • Each player gets a chance to shot on the board - of course they will know where their own boats are on the board, but are able to shot anywhere else on the board.
  • Each player gets to see where the other shots - when a hit is made, you do NOT know who's boat it is until it is sunk. (So player one makes a hit, player two sees that and shots around it to get a second hit, etc...)

..... This can also be set up to be teams - 2 against 2 - where the 2 team mates get to share notes and try to sink the other players boats. If one of the player loses all their boats, they are out and the 1 player has to continue. (They can still "win" the game if their team mate continues to sink all their opponents ships when they are not even playing anymore.)

I will post this on the Battleboats board if anyone wants to add more to this.

how about adapting a copy of an existing game to make something brilliant!!
take a copy of Fast Espionage.then adapt it into a game of paintball.
all I have is the idea...any thoughts on how to do this?
I am not a very great programmer..still learning.
but starting off with Fast Espionage,it may not be too difficult to tweak it
is anyone familiar with some f thesimple paintball .exe 's

    Argomento: Shogi tooltips
How about adding the piece names as tooltips when we hold the mouse over the shogi pieces? So when I hold the mouse over a pawn, a tooltip pops up saying "Pawn".
I thought about it because I have a hard time distinguishing some of the captured pieces, since they are smaller. But it would be useful on the pieces on the board too, for people switching from westernized to traditional pieces.

This could perhaps be optional, and it's also possible for people to turn of tooltips in their browser (well at least in my browser) if they don't like them.

When he asks why i agree with Trice(a name that makes him mad) i respond because Trice is a nice guy etc... When he asks if i'm using a computer i respond that yes around 10 different! When he says something accusing me i respond that he is right. That makes him unbelievably more mad and angry! I stay calm as always and enjoy this very much.....

Fencer, please don't get upset. I am just looking for an update on when the espionage games will be completed. Last I heard, you were still planning on adding a captured pieces list like every other game has. A new variation of froglet came out, so I was wondering...

I know there has been some debate as to "what" captured pieces to show. In the board game, you get to see the pieces. So, maybe you should just mirror that. However, anything is better than nothing.

    Argomento: streaks
I would like to see info on a player's streak in games, maybe even split for overall consecutive wins/losses and also by game type. I would like to see it both in a player's stats in his (or her) profile and in a table of the top streaks for each game. As a serious pente player, I have had streaks of 40+ wins and I know of another player who topped 50 consecutive wins at another site. It would be fun to see more of that of information.
